Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Here comes today's dumb packing question:

Has anyone carried a version of The Stick in their carry-on bag?

Yes, I've carried the longer stick 20"? on 2 flights with no problem. I bought a shorter one for this race cuz the long one had to lay diagonally in my carry on.

Making the most important list of all...the snack list!

Does anyone know if any of these s'more items are still available in the parks? The blog makes it seems as though they were for a limited time only.

No idea, but I can say Churros and Dole Whip will be consumed. A visit to Mary's place will occur (aka The Jolly Holiday Bakery) and Ghirardelli's in California Adventure should be put on standby just in case.

Humm, Interesting. Does that mean don't get swept by the balloon ladies, or your personal on course time must be below the 16min/mile pace.
They wouldn't know your total time when they are handing out the medals so it has to be the balloon ladies

Ok, I am going to be a whiny California girl right now. But it was so hot this week. I only ran once last week, no long run on the weekend and my first half marathon coming up. I know it does not seem that warm to those of you from much warmer climates, but it's miserable to me.

My house is a sauna (no central air allowed in my condo and I've been trying to avoid lugging out the portable), I bought new running shoes with no time to run in them, so not sure I should use them. Overall, just WAAAHHH. It's cooler this week, but the forecast gets worse on Sunday. Again. And I'm going to be so slow (at LEAST 3 hours on a good day), it will definitely be warm mid-race.

Overall, I'm just not looking forward to this.

Ok, rant over. I'm sure it will be fine. I just feel under-trained and whiny. :)
For the WDW marathon in January (and they were handing them out at a local 10k in June where it was 100% humidity and 85 degrees at the start) I bring a sponge with me. I dip it in the leftover water in my cup at the water stops and it feels nice and cool. Great feeling.

After the race on Sunday, the one thing I am looking forward to is from the Main St Candy Palace, (I had it a couple weeks ago)...it's chocolate/peanut butter bark with pretzels on top. All I can say is it taste so much better than it looks. Peanut butter+chocolate+pretzels= reward for running 13.1 miles. I just hope they still have it.

That sounds yummy. Adding that to my snack list!

Has anyone seen the line up for the speakers at the expo?
I've looked but can't find it at all.

I really like listening to the speakers, kinda sad that the schedule wasn't released with the program. Either way I look forward to it. Favorite speaker is Tara Gidus about nutrition outside of celebrity speakers.

Anyone know how fast the "I Did It" shirts and sweaty bands sell out? I know the mugs/glasses/jackets usually sell out pretty early. I won't be able to get to the expo until late Friday afternoon. Not enough vacation days for me. I'm only running the half this time and was hoping to get a shirt to commemorate the 10th/60th anniversaries.

I'm worried about this, too. At the WDW Marathon Weekend in January, by the time we arrived Friday afternoon, all of the "I Did It" shirts were gone in my size and my wife's size. When will they learn their lesson and make enough? Or offer them for pre-purchase?

@StarGirl11 thanks for posting the food list! I bet the Starbucks line gets pretty big...

I have stopped at Starbucks in a Disney park, because I just can't justify the wait (which I've seen crazy long even at 3pm). I shudder to think what kind of line will be generated by 10,000 groggy runners at 4 am! :scared1:

Starbucks is ALWAYS worth the wait.

/addicted :p

^^ related question, are there in-room coffee makers at Paradise Pier? Anyone know?

If you don't mind my asking, what sizes are the ones that sell out? I'm really hoping to buy a shirt, that's the only merch i really want.

For whomever it was asking about Starbucks and race day a bit back. This was just posted in one of the FB groups showing when everything opens in DTD for the races.

Thanks! I'm trying to decide if i want to risk getting there, seeing a massive line up, then having to get in my corral without coffee, that would be a disaster!
