Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I thought I read in last year's thread that the Downtown Disney Starbucks was open that morning...hmmmm.....

This is NOT a risk I am willing to take, no one wants to be around me before I've had coffee. Maybe i'll grab something on the way back to the hotel the night before, stick it in the fridge and have an "iced" coffee before the race.

The last 2 halfs I did this year at DL (Star Wars and Tink), the Starbucks was opened early. There were a few restaurants that opened early during the race weekend (Starbucks, Jamba, Wetzel Pretzels). They post a sign so you could probably check the sign for participating restaurants and hours the day before your race.

Buying your coffee the night before also works. :)

It's getting so close now!! And I still have no idea what I'm going to wear. First world, Disney girl problems, I know, but still. I am not loving any of the new options that SparkleSkirts put out. They just don't scream this race like I thought they would. I'm tempted by the blog post that @meg8182000 posted to do the Fireworks skirt, but I just don't know that I will love it when it gets here ...

I found this Etsy shop that I love, GlitterEverAfter, but I'm not sure the shirts would get here in time without paying expedited shipping. *sigh* I'm just not feeling the costumes for this race.

Sending healing vibes to all those who need it :goodvibes

Do they sell coffee in the pre-race pen area? I'll have the pot in the room (Grand Cali.), but was wondering or does the Grab & Go food place there open early on race days? I was so worried before the WDW marathon about getting coffee that morning and then didn't even have any because I had the flu & couldn't stomach it. So, I'm in coffee planning mode again! thanks!

Pretty sure Starbucks in DTD will be open. It definitely was last year.

Can I just get a sneak peek at merch already rD? I need that next little bit of excitement for this weekend's long run.

I know!!! Hurry up RunDisney!

Thank you for this reassurance. I figured as much, but nervous for my first half!! I've never trained this much before and now that I have, really wish I would have. It's a great change, but a new distance!
There will never be another first half marathon so enjoy it! Be sure to thank all the volunteers, high five people cheering you on, and smile at the end! You'll have a blast!

I'm pretty sure the La Brea Bakery was open very early last year, too. I didn't go so I can't speak to the lines, but I want to say they opened around 4:30am.

So DH and I did our 16km run up in Cairns. We got going by about 6am, ran along the beach, up to the mangrove boardwalk, then through the botanic gardens and along the creek trail back. We took just over 2 hours, and it was heating up by the end of the run, but we enjoyed it for the most part and managed to run the whole distance (aside from fuel breaks and brief pauses for photography).

Does anyone remember if any of the vendors at the Expo typically have CEP Compression socks (on discount)? I'm looking for a specific pair, but trying got avoid the $53 cost on Amazon...

I've been doing the Disneyland races for years (5 now with the DLH) now. I can't remember a time that the DTD Disney food options always open (well maybe 2011 but I wasn't seeking then but I do remember them being open at innagural Tink). They'll have their store hours posted out front for the race mornings starting usually sometime the week leading up. So if for some reason Starbucks isn't open race day (which I would be surprised) you'll know in advance.

Great pictures. Looks like a great run.

CEP was an exhibitor at most of the WDW races. I bought a pair of their socks last year. They might have been discounted a little bit, but I think they were still somewhere between $40 and $50

I'm with you. People ask when stuff is open and what is sold the morning of the races and I never know because I never bother to look. I ALWAYS bring my own stuff from home - bagels, single-serve pods of peanut butter, coffee creamer & disposable coffee cups with lids to make coffee in the room...not taking any changes with my stomach the morning of a race!

Thanks on what might be open. I'm planning just to use the in room pot probably. I get nervous before a race (one would think after over 20 yrs doing races I wouldn't) so my stomach will be messed up no matter what, but I am bringing clif bars and some other breakfast things, with hopes I'll get something down.
2 more weekend runs to go I keep saying!

rD is real funny sending out the waiver and event guide email today...

I don't know why I'm not getting these emails all of a sudden? I get the "don't forget to register for xxxx race" emaills, but nothing for the race I AM registered for. WEIRD.

I am VERY nervous for my runs this weekend. I was good and took a rest day yesterday, like I said, and my back has been feeling pretty good. But I'm still nervous!

I'm trying to get myself pumped up so I figured a good way to do that was to pick out some cute outfits to wear...yes, it has come to this. :upsidedow

I have my Princess Half ADRs tomorrow first thing in the morning and then I'm heading right out the door for 5 miles - I think I'm going to be super cautious and do run 2:00/walk 1:00 intervals. And then depending on how that goes maybe 3:00/1:00 on Saturday. :confused3

I also figured out that my shoes I use for cross training activities (TRX + general walking around) were totally shot, so I pulled a new pair out of the closet today. SO MUCH BETTER!

Way to go @kelly 1!! Hope that calf is feeling better! :)

Ariel sending you massive healing and energy boost! You will be swimming in positive energy! Go girl but be safe.
Bought myself a pair of trainers just for TRX. To get the most out of those squats! Don't wear them any where else because of the low heel drop.
