Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Thank You Ladies!! I just booked Stovalls Inn for Tink weekend $93 per night before tax. They did not charge me card. So that is even better!!

I can't belive I am really going to go all the way to CA by myself.
Anyone going solo?

You will be fine !! DL is so easy to get around since everything is so close. There is a GREAT pasta/pizza place just down the block from Stovall's on Katella called Marri's. Nothing fancy (it's in a strip mall) but LOVE the food. They even deliver.

We are also now booked at Stovall's. :cool1:

My mom made it for me! It was a brown chifony flowy thing that had sparkles on it. The waist band had a zipper in it- similar to a sparkle skirt tech skirt.

Gotcha!

I can't belive I am really going to go all the way to CA by myself.

I'm 50/50 on solo, and like Vicki said, it's really easy getting around the area once you're there. And the big plus, it that the walk to the start from the staging area, and even your hotel, are way shorter than the walks at WDW.

Sometimes I wish I was going solo--leaving the boys at home. :rotfl: Sometimes running the 13.1 miles is easier than a family trip to DL and WDW for sure.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm 50/50 on the solo trip as well. Gonna see how it all plays out. I've never gone without DD and not sure if she'd let me get away with it or not. Also I'll be driving and I dont know that I want to tackle a 6-8 hour drive by myself. Still got some debating to do I guess.
Anyway, I too booked Stovalls with the AAA rate based on everyones rec's and the location for race start/end. If I go by myself I'll stay there or PPH. I'll also be booking Hojos cause thats where I'll stay if DD and my mom come with me. Love Hojos. The walk to the race start isn't that bad. Its the walk back that sucks! hmmm wonder if I could talk my mom into splitting a room at DLH instead? ;)

Are there any hotel or ticket discounts for Tinkerbell when we sign up for this race?

Yes, the DL races go through a company called Get Travel. They usually update the race specific info the week registration opens. For the hotels, their only real deal is on the 3 resort hotels, which you don't need to stay at to be close. If you have an AAA card, you can usually find non-resort rooms cheaper than they offer. They do the park tix as well. For the DL 1/2 in Sept, they're offering a 3day hopper for $200 and right now if you bought it at the parks, it's $250.

I went to the Princess this year by myself and that was stepping way out of my comfort zone. I want to get my C2C so I guess I have to put on my big girl pants and go to CA solo. I did meet some wonderfull princess's at the PHM and had a ball. I hope to meet up with some of you at the Tink too!

Since there will be so many of us staying at Stovall's we definately need to have a meet or two.

Do any of you know anything about Desert Palms Hotel and Suites? We've never been to California, but we're looking for a suite for 3 of us so our options are a bit more limited than looking for a standard room. Has anyone stayed here? I see that it is right across from the Disneyland entrance, but does anyone know where it is in relation to the start line?

We've stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites which is right across from the entrance on Harbor. Theres only 2 hotels that are closer to the entrance to the parks. When we do our big family trip we get a couple of their C-2 suites and have had nothing but good experiences. If anyone decides to look there, book as soon as their rates are online. They only go up. Never go down. You can get a good deal if you book early enough. To get to the start of the race you'd walk through the esplanade, through downtown disney and over to the hotels where the start line is. It would be about a 10 minute walk. 15 if you're wakling slow. I stayed at Hojo's last year which is further down on Harbor and it took me 15 minutes or so to get to the start.

Desert Palms is on Katella so a little further away from the entrance to the parks. But its probably closer to the race start/finish than Desert Inn and Suites. Or maybe its about the same? I can't tell for sure. I have heard about it and I think it gets pretty good reviews. No experience staying there though. To get to the start line you'd walk down Katella, Down Disneyland Drive and to the hotels where the start line is. Not sure how long the walk would be but Im sure someone who had stayed at Stovalls (which is also on Katella) could guesstimate for you.

I'm all about going solo. I'm actually freaking a bit about doing 2 races in a weekend with all the kids and parents in tow for Dumbo Dare. When it's just me- it's sooo much easier to prepare for a race IMO.

Thank you for saying that, its makes me feel better about being solo!

A big thanks to kirstie101, sunnygal041,mommytotwoprinces, runnerRen, cripey, kim3339, vickiHD, cantwaitvaca09 for all your kind words and pixie dust for the loss of our little Madeline. Wish we could all meet up at either Disney park for some girlfriend fun....:flower3:

Did 3 miles yesterday and all I can say is I really hope the ungodly pollen goes away so the asthma won't be so bad. And oh yeah...a balmy 87 in San Antonio today...welcome spring or is it summer already ?

You are very welcome. I think a park meet-up would be lovely. I'm not doing Tink, but the DL 1/2, TOT and W&D. I am now a very poor Floridian. It was 83 here today.

I am glad you guys had weather in the 80's.
My 7K yesterday was aweful cold. FREEZING. I almost did not run and just went back to the car to go home. If it was not for the $62 spent on the race fee and the finisher medal I would of. I would love a warm weather run.
