Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Don't know about Nike in Oct. now... I'm in for the NYC Marathon!!!!! :dance3::yay::banana::yay::banana::dance3: We'll have to see what they announce $wise and double check training to see if it falls right w/ the 1st week of taper. Kinda glad WDW 1/2 was so crowded, who knew it would be a pretraining run? :rotfl2: I am so excited!!!!

I am SO happy for you !!!!!:hyper::woohoo:

I'm sure there will be NO weather issues this time around. Congrats again !!!!!!

You'll have to keep us posted on all your exciting plans.

Hey, y'all - late joining in on this one but planning on going for C2C next year, so we'll start with Tink! I've done the Princess for 3 years now. Unsure if I will be doing Princess or W&D for the WDW half of the C2C. Counting on Longhorns to show me the DL ropes, since I've only been there once, on a high school trip FAR too many years ago to remember!

You will absolutely LOVE it TinkerAmy! It's a great course. :) Can't wait to do this one with you guys

Congratulations!! My sister ran the NYC Marathon in 2011 - it's such an incredible experience - well from her perspective! And it was so much fun being a spectator - literally millions of people turn out for it! She's running the NYC half next Sunday too.

I just did Princess (my first half AND my first Disney race!) and I am already thinking Tink for 2014. I am totally new to Disneyland - I am so familiar with WDW that it is overwhelming to look at the west coast and how different things are. So first things first, do any of the Disneyland hotels have suites in them? And secondly, is the dining package as advantageous there as it is in WDW? Finally, how many days do you really need to see the parks in Disneyland?

Congrats on your first half! I'm with you on being totally new to DL, so I'll be looking for the same answers you are! I understand that it isn't a big deal to stay off property, but I kind of feel like this may very well be my one and only trip to DL, so I kind of want to go all out.

DL is like... the anti WDW when it comes to planning. It blew my mind the first time I went! No real need for ADRs, pretty much any hotel will do because they are all close and you can walk from most! It's pretty easy and low key compared to the planning of a WDW trip Jodi.

There are suites- but the are big $$$. You can find a lot of off property but literally next door suite options. I love this map! http://www.accommodationsneardisney.com/Disneyland/default.asp

No to the dining plan- it's basically the same out of pocket cost, but you lose the money if you dont use it, so just pay out of pocket!

I'd say 3-4 days as well. And at that time of year, plan park days AFTER the race. My friend goes to DL every year during the week of labor day because everyone is back in school- she says its walk on everything!

Thanks for the info!

Hey all.... I have done Princess past 3 years and looking forward to my first race at DL! My inlaws live in SoCal, so have been a few times and LOVE it! I know the course is a little different and I am cool with running through Anaheim. Can't wait for Tink! Going for C2C next year either with Princess or W&D too!

I am going to register day 1!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cool1::thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2

Thanks guys!! I'm super excited. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep b/c of it, so I went online and started looking at hotels. I found a really nice one near the park that I had heard of before on Kayak and it said $1045, which was kinda what I've been seeing. I went to book it and ummm.... $1045 was for a night, not the whole weekend. I almost fell out of bed of shock. :rotfl: And the expo too! :faint: I can only imagine all the goodies that will be there. I'll have to put it all on my Disney card so I can have some more Disney $'s for Tink.

Thanks! I've gone to Boston to watch my dad run there a few times and completely get the spectator aspect. You just get completely caught up in the race. It'll be nice to be on the other end of a big race this time. I always watch it on tv and you can hear the spectators on 1st after the bridge, I cannot wait for that. Tell your sister good luck next weekend!

Ditto what Vicki said! I love the little spinning Tink on the medal too, it's my favorite part of it.

WOW !!! I would be in shock too. But just think of all the Disney Reward $$$$ you will end up getting with the hotels being that expensive. Book it now---I can't imagine the $$$ it will be closer to the race.

Yes, definitely not in Disney anymore for hotels. I actually found 2 hotels I booked this afternoon. 1 kinda close to the park and Times Square, it even comes w/ a little kitchenette, but they only have rooms w/ 1 bed. And another close to the library where I catch the shuttle w/ 2 beds in case my dad joins me.

Need some opinions on this 1 ~ w/ DL 1st week of Sept. and the race 1st week of Nov., I was looking at 20 weeks plans, b/c that would be 11 weeks out for DL (and maybe a PR :goodvibes). I've found good ones that don't have high mileage early on and work well w/ DL also. If prices aren't too insane, should I buy their training plan? On the 1 hand, I've found some plans that work and a few training books so part of me says it would be a waste of $, but on the other hand, this is a once in a lifetime type of race and I really want to do well and go in strong. If I buy 1 of their plans, they say it's tailored directly for you, your gender and fitness level, maybe some online coaching as well. It's early and I have tons of time to decide, but my race OCD has definitely started to kick in. :rotfl2:

Well this is :offtopic:, but did anyone else see this post today and fall out of their chair like I did? For the longest time I've said this was a no-brainer! I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for the Dooney's...maybe at a future race we'll be seeing special editions of these instead...I know the pricing will be alot more affordable. I can't wait to get my hands on these...I love me some Vera. ::yes::

Ohhh..saw the post...love me some Vera too...and my Dooney....think I will move DH 's stuff out of the closet to make more room.:rotfl: got many a compliment on my Dooney from PHM....it goes so well with my blinky crown !

Trying to decide on doing the Tink....since we are doing DL in sept....doing Tink would make me want to do PHM for another coast to coast but then DH wants to go skiing next Feb....decisions....decisions...decisions...

If you like the training plan I say go for it. As you say this is a once in a lifetime thing not like you are doing this for every 5K race. A tailored for you plan can make all the difference not only for this race but for those to follow.

Go for it. And please let us live vicariously through you. :worship:

I'm with Indygirl99 on this one !!!!
Having a personalized plan could really add to your once in a lifetime race experience. And maybe even bring a little calm to your OCD race plans. :)
This race is a big one and at least you don't have to worry about DL, and you can keep your focus on NY. Keep us posted !!!!!

How is your Fitbit going ??? Are you still using it ??? I am still interested in one--just have not had the time to get one.

I absolutely love it and have gotten 4 of my coworkers hooked on it.

Just today at work, I work 12 hour shifts, I needed to go get supplies. Another nurse who has one said "I am going that way, I can get it for you". I made her check her fitbit for steps. She had 50 more steps than me so I made her stay and let me go get the supplies so I could increase my step count. :lmao:

Love the story too. :rotfl:
