Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Dont know how I missed it before but saw some talk about the Diva run in the bay area on May 5th and wanted to chime in and say I'm doing it!
A friend did it last year and said it was a great FLAT course and they shirts were awesome! :rotfl: So theres about 4 of us signed up to do it this year so far. I'm looking forward to it! And since its actually in Burlingame, hotels are way cheaper than they are in SF on Nike weekend.

Burlingame--wow. I'll have to check it out.

A lot of times, it's either through Runner's World magazine ads or little side advertisements on websites that will show up after I visit a running site. I haven't heard of any for the 4th, but I did hear of 1 in May you might be interested in. It's called the Mission City Run and it's May 5th at 8am. It's a 5k race and they have a mile race for kids. It's at Great America and it's $45 and it includes a shirt, medal and a ticket into Great America that day. (Are you reading Run Disney? $45 and a free park ticket :rotfl2:) I think I might do that one, I haven't been to GA in forever.

Boy I'll actually have to start reading my Runner's World mag. when it comes each month. No time !!!!! :confused3
It's funning about GA, I also have not been there in years and that Friday 5/3we are all going there for a special event day.

I am SO with you with the whole princess NO mud, No paint !!!! :rotfl2:

How do you Bay Area Tinks find out about these races ??? I would love to do one for the 4th of July. Anyone know of anything ??

Well, then the Diva's race for you on the 5th is perfect! Very girly & you are already going to GA on Fri, so you can race on Sun :cool1: sounds like there will be several of us there!

I don't get Runners World  not that advanced yet :thumbsup2

But I look here:

http://www.roadracerunner.com/Races/RunningCalendar.aspx?state=ca&d=5k

and I seem to find quite a few events. That is how I found the Diva's race. Had to find something to start out with that did not have mud or paint :cutie:

DVCDAISY - you sound exactly like me last year! Nike was my first half and Tink was my second. I'm officially hooked and hoping to do Nike again this fall and Tink next Jan. Get some 5K's under our belt, evena 10K if you can, before Nike. This way you'll have some idea of what to expect on a race day.

Got it, some 5ks & maybe even a 10 if I can first. Thanks!

BTW - were you a RUNNER & then did the above, or like me, a beginner & just started training & then did the above? Just curious. :)

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

You're right about the time for Nike, it's 6 1/2 hours. And w/ you already doing 8 miles 2x a week, you can totally finish the race. Just make sure to try and get some hills in beforehand to help your training along. The big one is after the Presidio before the Golden Gate Bridge, b/c you go from ocean level to just below the bridge, but after you go under the bridge, you keep going back up hill again. There are some more after that, but not as bad. But don't let them deter you, you can totally do the race. Plus, after you get to the top of the hill after the bridge, there is a big downhill and you go downhill again after the Cliff House before Golden Gate Park.

I am planning on adding in hills in my training before the race. Not sure I will find ones that big though. :scared1:

Thanks - that does help a lot. I was starting to freak out  I am not worried about my time, but I do want to finish!

So - it sounds like I should be able to do it then? :goodvibes maybe not with a great time, but that it is doable? :yay:

Thanks--I've never heard of roadracerunner.com. I'll really have to check it out. :)

I think I am going to do the Color Run here in August, as part of my taper for DL. I've bitten the bullet and decided I have to do Tink in 2014, because I want another baby at some point in the next 3 years, and who knows what will happen then!

I can't wait for Southwest to release the dates for January, I just bought our tickets for the Disneyland 1/2 and it was less than $500 for the two of us, round trip from Buffalo to LAX! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2

One more post and you are at 1000! Do we throw you a party or something? :woohoo:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: It just shows you that I'm not cleaning the house, doing projects, organizing the closets, cooking and neglecting our little mouseketeer. ONLY kidding on the last one !!!!!!!

So, you really do sound like you were where I am now :thumbsup2

Signed up for first 5k in May! Seems like I will try to stay with what you did.

I am not really worried about times, I don't care if I am ever "fast", I just want to be good enough to finish :cool1:
