Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Well this is :offtopic:, but did anyone else see this post today and fall out of their chair like I did? For the longest time I've said this was a no-brainer! I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for the Dooney's...maybe at a future race we'll be seeing special editions of these instead...I know the pricing will be alot more affordable. I can't wait to get my hands on these...I love me some Vera. ::yes::

Hmmmm.....very interesting. I'm in for Vera.

It's funny I did not read the D. blog this morning but I did email RunDisney about any D & B purses at the DL 1/2. If I hear back I'll post.

Just wanted to share my blog with Tinker Bell recap and Tinker Bell meet up recap!

Patty ~ loved your recaps. And the pic of the beautiful drink after the race at 33!!! Loved the stuff w/ the run disney event. I have to go down earlier 1 year so I can try to do that, it sounds like a blast.

I am planning on adding in hills in my training before the race. Not sure I will find ones that big though. :scared1:

Thanks - that does help a lot. I was starting to freak out  I am not worried about my time, but I do want to finish!

So - it sounds like I should be able to do it then? :goodvibes maybe not with a great time, but that it is doable? :yay:

Yes, you will definitely be able to do this race. As for time, it doesn't matter if you come in 1st or last, you finish no matter what place and get that beautiful blue bag from a gorgeous :firefight in a tux!!! It's your 1st race, so you'll have a PR either way. And b/c it's TNT's main race, there is so much race support and coaches running back and forth the entire race and give everyone encouragement and help along the way whether they're TNT or not. And I just saw on they're FB page that they're opening the lotto in April/May.

Nice! Thanks for posting the link, I hadn't seen it yet. I do like Vera! Love me some Lesportsac too though!

PR is short for Personal Record and TNT is Team In Training...you can spot them at many of the larger races out in full force wearing purple! They run and raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I haven't personally ever run with them, but they are very popular and seem to have a great program for training and support.

And should you not get into Nike via the lottery, you can always secure a spot through TNT...though it does require you to do quite a bit of fundraising (for a great cause, of course!).

Excellent to know! If I don't get in, I will ask for more info on this. Agreed, a great cause!

I'm confused. What do you mean by "not get in"? This will be my first Disney race. Are you saying that there is a chance I will not be able to register for it and get in? :worried::confused::eek:

No - that was in reference to the Nike 1/2 marathon in SF in Oct which you get in by lottery. :thumbsup2

I saw that too, and I really hope they at least keep the Dooney's for Tink 2014!! I don't have a Dooney yet, and I really really really would love a Tink Dooney!! Personally, I don't care for the Vera Bradley "look" so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Tink Dooney!!

I agree. Hoping they keep Dooney for Tink and just add in the Vera. Vera is just a little too "busy" for me to carry as a purse. But, I do like the Vera duffles and wallets.

Totally agree!!! I thought about getting one at the PHM this year, but I'm waiting it out for a cuter color/design :thumbsup2

Yes, definately!! I did the Tower last year, and that was our first MNSSHP and we are in LOVE :lovestruc Can't wait to do that again!!

But, just dreaming of those wings.... each and every day!! LOL!!!

Awesome!!!

I just did Princess (my first half AND my first Disney race!) and I am already thinking Tink for 2014. I am totally new to Disneyland - I am so familiar with WDW that it is overwhelming to look at the west coast and how different things are. So first things first, do any of the Disneyland hotels have suites in them? And secondly, is the dining package as advantageous there as it is in WDW? Finally, how many days do you really need to see the parks in Disneyland?

Welcome! I'm a DL regular but have never been to WDW! I'll throw my opinion out there for ya and I'm sure others will help you out as well!

I can't help you with the Disneyland hotels/suites as I always stay offsite (hoping to stay onsite for Tink 14!). That being said, offsite hotels at DL are super close to the park entrance (and race start too) and lots of those have suites should you decide to look into staying offsite.

For dining, pretty much no one does the dining package for DL. From what I've read when others ask this question it sounds like its not worth it. Just reasearch some of the restaurants here and on the Disneland website, decide which ones you want to try and make your ressies 60 days in advance for the ones that allow ressies.

To see everything I'd say you need 4 days total...2 for each park. You could see enough in 2 days to make you want to stay longer! You'd see plenty in 3 days. But to see almost everything I think 4 days is better. For our yearly family trip we usually do 4 days. I'd do 5 if DH let me but truthfully I see everything I want to see and more in 4 days.

Good luck with your planning!

DL is like... the anti WDW when it comes to planning. It blew my mind the first time I went! No real need for ADRs, pretty much any hotel will do because they are all close and you can walk from most! It's pretty easy and low key compared to the planning of a WDW trip Jodi.

There are suites- but the are big $$$. You can find a lot of off property but literally next door suite options. I love this map! http://www.accommodationsneardisney.com/Disneyland/default.asp

No to the dining plan- it's basically the same out of pocket cost, but you lose the money if you dont use it, so just pay out of pocket!

I'd say 3-4 days as well. And at that time of year, plan park days AFTER the race. My friend goes to DL every year during the week of labor day because everyone is back in school- she says its walk on everything!

Don't know about Nike in Oct. now... I'm in for the NYC Marathon!!!!! :dance3::yay::banana::yay::banana::dance3: We'll have to see what they announce $wise and double check training to see if it falls right w/ the 1st week of taper. Kinda glad WDW 1/2 was so crowded, who knew it would be a pretraining run? :rotfl2: I am so excited!!!!
