Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

I went out to run 9 on Saturday but made the mistake of going out shortly AFTER I went to a BBQ. Only made it 5 miles. :sad2:

On Sunday I volunteered at a race and I have to say it was a eye opening experience. I have to say that some runners are downright rude.

I had water thrown at me because it was not Gatorade. The race director published that there would be water and NUNN. Sorry you didn't read the material and bring your own Gatorade. Had runners yell because we did not hand the water to them. We held it so they could scoop the cups out of our hands on the run or fast walk. But we did have many that thanked us and that made it worth it.

I also have to say that while 40-45 degrees may be good to run a half marathon in it is downright cold to be standing there handing out water. My hands were frozen in a claw like hold and there were times I could not feel my fingers. I am ready for some warmer weather.

Wow !!!! I am so sorry to hear people acted like that towards you. I don't understand why people just can't be polite, especially when someone is offering you something to drink.

Personally...I don't care if I am at mile 12 and I'm miserable....I always thank the volunteers at the water stations.

I ran a race this weekend! RnR Dallas. Hills! It was tough but I liked it. Which is weird. I'm usually only interested in easy. Lol

Congrats on doign RnR, How did you like the way the race was put on. I hear good things about the RnR runs but the one they do here in Chicago is in the dead of summer.

I'm in!

Booked my flights and hotel today so I am psyched!
- Flying into SNA on Friday and flying home on Monday
- Staying at Super 8 near Disneyland (I've stayed there before, it's a bit out of the way and nothing to write home about, but only $65/night)

This will be my first solo Disney trip - my husband is a bit disappointed, but I can't justify the $$$ for the three of us to go down for a weekend.

I have walked a half marathon in the past, will be walking a half in September and am planning on running the Tinkerbell. My walking times aren't too shabby at 2:45 for the half, so I am not too worried about being swept.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Oh - I can't wait to hear the rest.

Why were you so far back in the corrals with your times? Seems like you should have been further up.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks for posting your link, You ran without music? That had to stink. I was also side tracked by your Tink Meet Up Blog, I hope you don't mind that I read it. How AWESOME!! I got into the Princess Half one but we did not go on any rides. We ran around Epcot and then had breakfast, they too gave away runDinsney Bags and NB Mickey Shoes. It was awesome to be there.

Yes, those wind gusts were brutal! But I had a take no prisoners running partner that helped me through it. She rocked

Read anything you want in the blog! That's why it's there! I made it to princess too and while awesome, not as exciting as Tink meet up IMO. Still cool though and totally worth trying to get into them'

Hi!!

Indygirl ~ Sorry about some of the runners. I know you're tired, but volunteers are here for you.

No run this morning, I got a really bad migraine last night and this morning my head still hurts. Don't know if it's the end of the migraine or sore like muscles get. Might go to a dance class tonight if it goes away, if not, 3 miles and the gym tomorrow.

Indygirl - that is terrible!!! I can't believe that runners treated the volunteers like that!!!!

Kim - Puppy is a mutt! Mommy dog was rescued from a shelter 12 hours after giving birth to her pups. She's a weimaranar/pit/lab mix and they dont know who daddy was. We werent planning on getting a baby but I think it was kinda meant to be. We're all in love with the little guy we picked out.

Patty - I read the 1st installment of RnR. Can't wait to read the others now!

Gonna do an easy 2.5 tonight. Allergies are kicking butt right now and I might be fighting a cold.

What airlines are booking that far out? I saw Delta was but they are also much more expensive and since the whole family is going looking for a bit cheaper. Thanks:)

Hope you start feeling better !!! Migraines are the WORST.

I am flying United. They have just started a new route from my local airport, so flights are cheap at the moment. Generally flights from here to SoCal are between $550-$700 round-trip, and the I paid about $420 all in. Coming from Canada, I don't have the option of many of the discount airlines.

I'm flying American. Orlando to LAX for $358.......couldn't pass it up.
:woohoo:

Kim- Said there were 14K registered- results show around 11K. I noticed there was a lot of breathing room and room to run on the course- nothing like Disney. I wasn't sure if that was because we had larger roads or if a lot of people stayed home due to weather, or what!

Never had a crowd other than the start and even that separated out really quickly.

Kim - thanks for the course maps!!

Patty - I will be watching for your race highlights. Since that is in my own backyard, I might want to try it next year. The Austin one sounds great. May have to try that one. What month is it usually held? I was in Austin last weekend for the Warrior Dash. Ran it with 5 friends. We made a road trip of it.

Indygirl - I hate hearing runners act like that! I have thinking about doing some volunteering.

Ran 3.1 miles today.
