Damn....I couldn't remember whether it was shootout or OT. So I suppose the same rule is still in effect.
Someone above mentioned the shootout as being a skills competition. I consider it more like a carnival sideshow. Tolerable for "regular season", but not for the finals.
I think the World Cup in soccer used shootouts to determine the 2006 and 1994 champions. A major reason lots of US fans consider soccer to be a bush league sport.
