Official 2014 Dopey Challenge Thread!

As a post race food, humus is kind of a good food. Carbs, protein and good fats. Though saying that, I am with you on the box... I would rather be able to drop my post race drink in a checked bag as in the past... no longer an acceptable item in the checked bag.

oh, see, i'm not saying it's not good for you. i'm just saying it's not my cup of tea for a post-race snack. like i said i wanted a muffin so clearly health isn't my first thought after a race! :rotfl2:

no drinks anymore in checked bag? i may try to sneak one of those shelf stable chocolate milks in there anyway.

the boxes that the resorts have before the races are pretty good. a bagel with some peanut butter, water, banana, granola bar. usually before the race most any food goes down like razor blades so i usually have some left over for after the race in my checked bag.

I need to re-read the W&D Final instructions. I may be over stepping the disallowed items; but I remember thinking no drink. I am fairly certain that frozen and gels are out and I used a frozen block to keep the drink cool.

For those checking bags, EXPECT to have any bag heading into the staging area searched before the staging area. Saying that, I saw clothing in clear bags come out and being gone through at the W&D weekend.

Hopefully the program will come out tomorrow so we have some certainty on what is disallowed.

I don't usually check bags, it is just one more thing to worry about!
We are eating at Teppan Edo after the marathon (did I spell that right?)

ugh just found out that DH has a meeting in san diego on the 8th. we're supposed to head down there that day and go to the expo. so, i'll have to head down on the 8th with the boys (ages 4 and 2) on my own and take them to the expo. UGH! i definitely will not be perusing the booths while there. bummer.

he may not get back til the 9th (will fly from san diego to orlando) so i just called the kids nite out babysitting to see if they can come at like 4am so i can make the bus for the 5k. 4 hour minimum plus the extra cost because it's early and that's $20.50 an hour. figure i won't be back til 8 maybe 9 and that's one expensive morning.

this dopey challenge, with the entry fee, the t-shirt i know i'll have to buy, the trips to the doctor for the foot injuries, and now the babysitter is like the most expensive race weekend EVER for me.

my foot better be good enough to get me to each finish line!!!

I'm having to import my aunt from Daytona to spend the night with us so I can get up at dark-thirty to head to the Half. I'm just lucky I have relatives in Florida.

DS (9) and I are heading to the Expo at opening on the 8th; if you want someone to amuse your kidlets, my guy adores little kids. PM me or something if you want to see if we can coordinate so you can get at least a few minutes at the expo to buy a bondi band or something. :)

It says "please do not check cold or gel packs. "

Assuming it's the same for the Half (yes I know I'm in the Dopey thread, but I saw your post earlier while looking at posts on my cellphone and thought "wait, I haven't seen THAT wording" ) I know I'll be putting two shelf-stable Horizon chocolate milks into my bag. Double zip-top-bagged inside of the bag, of course, lest a puncture happens. :)

you are very sweet to offer, thank you! we don't get to MCO til 11am so i don't think i'll even be at the expo til the afternoon sometime. but thank you! i'm sure it will be fine. and if not, i'll bust out the lollipops ;)

i think bringing drinks will be fine. i understand why they don't want you bringing cold packs. that can be a little questionable for security.

For those of you that have used Runner Tracking for the Goofy Challenge in the past, did it track both races or just the marathon? I'm hoping since it recognizes me as Dopey, it will post times for all 4 races (including splits for the half and full).

What is everyone eating after Dopey? I'm heading to beaches n cream for onion rings, french fries, ice cream... Probably not Sunday since I might want just want to hurl, but definitely by Monday.

I will get something in my stomach, but I'll have to wait for that whole post-race feeling to disappear before I'll do much more.

I think it's kinda weird that runDisney hasn't even posted the courses yet on their site. What are they waiting for?

Will we be in the same corral for all four races? I'm in J. J for Jogging Slowly!

With my foot in a boot still who knows anyway.

I'm in "C". I can't believe I'm going to have to fight through a 1,000 or more people. I thought I at worst would get "B". I started in "A" at ToT and finished 202nd. They must have a lot of good runners for the week this time.

Edit: I guess it won't be as bad as last year since they reduced the starting number in the corrals. Starting in "B" I couldn't even get out of the crowd for 3 or 4 miles, it was very frustrating.

Is the 5k and the 10k going to be a free for all since there are now crowd assignemnts?

I'll be right behind you in K, but will try to catch up!
:)

and I forget who it was on the waiver thread who used to be in A with the old system and is in D now...same with my honey. So it's consistent, I guess.
