Official 2014 Dopey Challenge Thread!

Are you doing the amica full? I am signed up for that one!! It looks beautiful.. I am really excited about trying it!

Oh its beautiful! I did the half last year and after I crossed the finish line I asked myself if I could have run the same loop again...yes! Which is why I signed up for the full.
To be frank, I think its one of the most scenic half marathons I have ever done...I don't know the route of the full but I know its lovely.
I have ran half's in Hawai'i to the east coast and none were as pretty as this one.
Newport is wildly expensive but really quaint. If you don't mind breathtaking views of the ocean or running by unreal unimaginable mansions...
Last year it was dreary, gloomy and dark with drizzle and it was still wonderful.
So I am sure you will love it!

I will be solo this trip because my running partner (sister) is pregnant and will have the baby just a month or so before this race. Anyone else going to be there solo?

Right now I think I might be. I plan to find a pace group and keep up with them for the half and full.

I think she AJackson just meant traveling solo rather than running solo. I pretty much always fun solo for a race. Although, I love meeting up with a group for my long runs around town.

Yeah, pretty much those of us traveling solo. I think it's really hard to find others with the same pace/racing strategies. But hey, that would be fun too!

I signed up with the Runners World Challenge which is now 90% full. I was so afraid of not getting in the Dopey! I wish I had the extra money to sign DH up with RWC but I don't have that kind of money
Any ideas on how quickly it will sell out- I will be lurking!

Registering for the Dopey with my travel agent for me and my DH - get a Dopey Pin with it for each of us & she's gonna get us into the Pasta Party!

Plus I just bought all the other pins and necklaces I wanted and got into the Breakfast

I suspect that all of those had a fair number of preregistrations due to AP, DVC, Disney Visa holders, etc. Still, glad I am signed up - definitely would not want to think too long about doing the Dopey.

The last update from RunDisney Marketing is that they really restricted the pre-reg numbers this year because of the two new races. But either way I think it will sell out shortly and the Minnie may be full before 3pm!!!

Wow.. In a little over an hour later the numbers are already

Dopey: 66% (up 6%)
Minnie: 71% (up 6%)
5K: 51% (hard to explain if the Dopey went up 6%.. shouldn't the 5K go up also??)

I assume they are separate capacities. The 51% presumes people who are ONLY signed up for the 5k.

Something occurred to me today...

It's been one thing to keep the bib/chip on the back in decent shape for 2 races (Goofy)....wonder if that is going to be an issue to keep it from getting bent or otherwise damaged over the course of 4 races?

They've done a single bib for Goofy the last 2 years. I wasn't there in 2011. Separate bibs in 2010.
