Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

I apologize in advance. I will post this to various threads I am sub'd to. So if you see this more than once... :flower3:

Anyway, who doesn't love a deal? So while it does not work for me I thought it might for some. There is a seriously deal on a couple of the brooks pure line here

The two shoes (flow and cadence) are both from the "2" line. The pure flows are just $39.95. Shipping I think is free. The Cadence is just $10 more. I did wear the 1's and now the 3's (2's didn't work - gave me blisters) Makes me wonder though if for $40 I shouldn't try to make them work.

Hope it works for someone. :goodvibes

Did you try the Flow or the Cadence? The PureCadence2 was my first pair of Brooks and I tried the 1's after that when I found a great deal on them. I like both but definitely prefer the 2 over the 1 and recently found a great deal on another pair of 2's but I'm nervous to make the leap and try the 3's now or stock up on 2's while I can get them at a good price.

The Tinker Bell in January had massive corrals again. I'm guessing they either don't have the space they'd want to set up tons of smaller corrals (though technically it wouldn't take up more space), or they have to get people across the start line faster than they do in FL? Makes no sense to me, but I'm not in charge.

Okay, thanks. I guess I just need to work as hard as possible to get up front now (fingers-crossed for 'A'). My strategy for both the 10k and Half is to stop at every character spot, but run significantly faster than my normal pace between them - sort of like a Galloway but with character stops instead of walk breaks!

I only stopped at 6 characters at the WDW Marathon since I was after a time goal. This time around, I want to stop at everything!

i wish they worked for me! i have the 2s, and while they were great training from august - february, it was all i could do to get them off my feet asap after the 5k, 10k, and half in february. i don't know if it was just because my feet were tired from the challenges and walking at disney or what, but they haven't felt the same since. i switched to asics, and now whenever i put the 2s back on (they really didn't have that many miles on them, so i use them for other training and shorter runs), my arches start cramping.

i am tempted to get them at the discount and see if i can get a new pair to work again.

also THANKS for tip on the deal :)

So yeah great run, HORRIBLE RACE. God Disney spoils you compared to some of the other races I've done. But this thing was chock full of false advertising. If I pay for my damn VIP package. GIVE ME WHAT YOU PROMISE (half the stuff was either missing or shoved off to the side. The thing that pissed me off that was missing was particularly the VIP corral, what we got was a god damn mass start if I paid for a separate corral I want my corral).

Also found out the verification page has no other option. So I'm stuck sending them an email. And telling them, dude stick an other option. Logic people.

I finished in 1:26:34 for the 6.55 which I think was an improvement. But since there was no 10k mat how much I improved. I have do damn clue. I mean the pace was improved. But I still think I am stuck two corrals back from where I wanted to be. And partly because I lost a couple of minutes at the ******* water station with two tiny tables.

I needed another month of training. I just really wish I had another month to get a race in. It's not for lack of trying with the pace thing here.

I've tried on the PureFlow 3s and was trying to wait for them to come down at least a little bit. What was the difference for you?

The twos had a slightly higher heel (as in the upper) which was also more ridged. It dug into my heel funny :(

I just did the flows... I think sometimes changes are so subtle that they don't bug people- I just notice little differences. For me the 3's ended up being closer to the 1's so they worked well. I definitely wish I would have stocked up when the 1's went cheap.

Sorry bout all the posts- not sure how to multi quote from my phone Disboards ap.... I wonder if a new pair wouldn't be a good thing for you. Maybe it was the mileage that you had one them? August to February is a long time for those shoes. I always know it is time to change my shoes when's they go from being perfect to hurting me in some way.

So I had to call in to Trackshack to find out what my time was (apparently the verification page does not update when you go the long way around via email just a note on that). But my new proof of time is 2:59. Which means I managed to get into the sub 3 hr corrals. Barely, but I made it!

Mom asked me if I wanted to try for a better time this weekend. But I decided against it for a whole lot of reasons. The most important being, their isn't a lot of options for me.

I mean there is one race in all of Denver that could work. But that's a trail race. And I am not a huge fan of trail racing as a whole. Plus I am just getting back to normal from this last race. So I don't think double backing these weekends would be great on my legs.

Now to go bug my trainer about my endurance. Since I shouldn't have come out of a 6.55 race feeling like I ran a 13.1 race last time I checked.

Congratulations! The trackshack website shows my projected time as 3:15 even though my only proof of time has been this year's Tink where I ran just over the 3:30 time limit. Hmm, I wonder how that happened. I signed up for a local 10k (well sort of; San Jose to my Santa Cruz) for this Sunday (I know, cutting it close!) in hope of having a qualifying proof of time for the 3:15 corral. Based on the McMillan pace calculator I have to do it with a pace of ~14:05 so hopefully I run that or less to keep my 3:15 corral status and not go slower!

I haven't proved it yet, but I think that taking Spin classes is really helping with my endurance.

Thanks! And I have an actual theory concerning runDisney and that last corral if you've run previously with them. But I have no way of actually physically proving it. Like you at this past Tink I had no way of proving that I didn't belong in the final corral so I didn't submit proof of time at time of registration. And despite repeated efforts to get a proof of time to move up corrals I fell flat. And yet when the corrals came out I wasn't in the very last corral but in the corral before that. So I think that runDisney takes the fact that you have run a Disney race as proof that you can run a half marathon and possibly run it in a sub 3:30 and puts you in the second to last corral and not the back one. But I can't 100 percent prove that theory. Though the fact this happened to me and now appears to be happening to you backs it up.

Hmmm will keep that in mind as an option when things are a bit less crazy. Right now I'm alternating regular biking/lap swimming/weight lifting on my off days. I mean I don't work out every day because my legs do need a break every once and a while. But I might try it sometime. Especially since I got a YMCA membership again.

How do you verify through Trackshack? I submitted a new time this weekend through the website and the final screen gave an updated estimated finish time but I didn't even think of getting a screen shot. I guess I'm just feeling paranoid because my DDD proof of time is from when I signed up in Jan. 2013 (deferred) and I gave worked my tail off doing speed work so my current proof of time is significantly better. Lol, the whole reason I DO speed work is for Disney corrals! Would hate to have it go to waste!

I think you should be able to go back on the website and it will show your new proof of time since you went through the website. Otherwise you can always call the runDisney number which will connect you to Trackshack and ask what the verified proof of time is (it took me a few minutes of explaining but the lady was nice enough to explain why it wasn't listed on their webpage and pulled up my new time). But the website should just show you as long as you update it on there from what I understand (it's only when you go through email when things get whacky).

Yes! Awesome, the site worked and my proof of time is updated! Thank you so much.

We just got sent our Welcome to the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend email! :yay:

A nice reminder about this Sunday's proof of time deadline.

I was only thinking this based on speculation but "Here you'll find all the information you need to prepare for this incredible experience that will take you from the Disneyland® Resort to Angel Stadium, through the City of Anaheim and beyond!" leads me to believe we won't be running through the stadium? Hmm.

How exciting! I'm only doing the 5k and 10k. Can I expect a welcome email too? Or is it just for the half?

I think the Angels have a home game, so the runners won't be going in the stadium.

If you click on the course map link in the email it says "through" the stadium. So that's what is up on the public rd site, I really hope that's right!

I hope you're right, but they do have a 12:30 pm game that day. People were saying in the past, that meant they ran around the stadium.
