Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

I don't quiet understand why a 12:30 game would cause a course alteration since most runners have to be clear of Angels by 9:00, 9:30 at the latest since Angels falls before the 10 mile marker. Which means the volunteers would have to be cleared out within the next hour or so. And as someone pointed out they had a game on the same day in 2011 and I know we ran the stadium in 2011. I have photos from me running the stadium dating every year I've done this race, including the 2011 race.

Anyways I guess if they do make an alteration it happens. But it sucks because Angels is the big highlight of the eastern run. Hell its the reason why the race goes east pretty much instead of any other direction. Hope they think of something to make up for it because Honda Stadium is not a highlight in my opinion.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. I got the same email as well so even though the 1/2 might sell out, they want to make sure the legacy runners like us at least have a chance to register.

Thanks Danny, I hope it works out! My husband didn't get an email - I always register us together on Active, and he never seems to get any correspondence, so if I have to call in, I hope the call center has access to information that shows he is a legacy runner as well, since the email said only one entrant, and no family or friends.

I'd noticed that they hadn't come out with a map for the 2014 course yet. Or at least a course map that I could find. This might be why?

If I'm able to register, this will be my first 1/2 marathon. Would suck if the stadium isn't part of it (it seemed fun), but maybe there are alternate routes they could try that would be just as good?

They didn't come out with the WDW marathon course until right before that race even though it didn't really change, so I am not sure that's unusual for them.

Last year DLR didn't release the map till fairly close because of road construction in anaheim deviated the course by a block or two-

Question... Does anyone know at what time regular registration opens for the 1/2 marathon?

I know it's on 1/28, but don't know what time.

Thank you!! :goodvibes

Thank you! :thumbsup2

I just scanned the full thread and saw it in another post as well.

I guess I'll be checking at 11 a.m CT to see if I can get a spot! :goodvibes

Here's some info I got from the RunDisney booth at the WDW Marathon Weekend:

  • There will not be a VISA early registration window but there will be a VISA discount
  • No pre-reg at Tink
  • AP Early Registration starts at 9am PT (12p ET) on 1/22
[*]General Reg starts at 9am PT (12p ET) on 1/28
  • There will be more Dumbo seats this year than last year

Three years of running and racing and I have this epiphany now about timing and pacing after last night's run (all ready beginning early stage of training for Dumbo since I am training for a 10k). Show's how much trouble I had with my previous trainer I had I guess. Anyways now that I realize what I can do my goal for the DDD has gone from 'Lets see if we can PR the half (with no estimated pace time)' to 'Hey lets work our way up to training for a 12/13 min pace (currently training at a 14:30 pace for a 10k and with the upcoming surgery this shouldn't be impossible I think)'.

If anyone missed the first slot of AP Dumbos they're opening a second slot of them an hour before regular registration on the 28th.

I've seen people mention a Disney Visa discount for this race but has anyone actually received an email about this or gotten a discount code? We've been card holders for a couple years but I've never gotten an email from Chase about race registration or discounts, I've always just used the promo code people mention on these forums.

As a Cast Member, I get no priority registration. What are the odds I can get a DDD spot if I'm ready to register at the exact time it opens?

I'd say excellent. Last year it sold out in less than an hour, but they had already done a lot of pre-registration at WDW and Tink expos, plus there was the added excitement of the inaugural 10K/DDD. This year, demand should be lower and there should be more spots still available. And even if it fills just as quickly, you still have an hour once it opens. If you're ready to go at noon EST, it shouldn't be a problem.

I had the same question...Want to be prepared for tomorrow!

WHEW. you really calmed my nerves.

Thought I might miss out on the DDD challenge.

I think part of the sell out was people who did not get in to DDD decided to register for the races separately. I don't think I saw posts here, but I do know that was going on. It was only after registration sold out when rD posted that only the DDD registrants qualified for the DDD challenge. Runners who signed up for the 10k and half separately did not qualify.

Oh yeah I remember that post and the complaining afterwards. I am not exactly sure what the people signing up in the separate races expected though since I am pretty sure if you sign up for the half and full separately at WDW you don't get a Goofy medal unless you signed up for the Goofy in addition!

Anyways guess who signed up for the 5k in addition to the DDD? This girl! I think this might be the nuttiest thing I have done to date. But my Mom wanted to do it, my friend and her Mom was doing it, and that's pretty much the story of how 19.3 miles got magically turned into 22.4 miles. It's going to be a long interesting weekend.

Hotel is booked also. Poking around the email and say we're staying over at the Anaheim Marriott. Nice surprise since I thought since we weren't going to be staying on property again we were going to stay over at the Courtyard (nice but a tad bit more inconvenient).
