Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

I registered earlier today, got a confirmation email and was able to click on the "view your registration details" link to see more information. Now when I click on that link it says I'm not authorized to view that registration. Has this happened to anyone else??

This happened to me....I then called the Active.com support desk, and they said it was a known glitch with the pre-sale links not always connecting to your active.com account. If you have your confirmation e-mail, you are good to go.

I wasn't able to pre-register since I don't have an AP and am not a DVC member. So I'll have to wait till next Tuesday to register.

How quickly did the Dumbo Double Dare fill up last year? Like 2-3 hours? I know registration will probably open at Noon ET, but I don't get off work till 3:30 and won't be home till 4 PM. Any chance registration will still be open around 4:15-4:30? Just in case, I'm giving my mom instructions on how to register me since she will be around at 12 PM.

do you have a smart phone? i registered today using my iPhone. i just made sure that i was logged into the AP site, ready to go. yes, it was a bit more of a pain using a phone, but at least i'm in.

last year, it sold out quickly, but they had allowed pre-registration at marathon weekend. they didn't allow that this year. i'm curious how many spots they had available for today. i can still get in through the AP link.

I think last year the DDD sold out incredibly fast (like half an hour or something from memory ), so I would get your mum onto it. I think it took about 2-3 hours for the half and 10k to sell out individually. Hopefully it won't sell out as fast this year as it hasn't been pre-sold at any other RunDisney races, plus last year it had the novelty factor of being the first 10k race.

Personally I'll be getting up at 3:30am (registration opens at 4am on the 29th my time :crazy2:) and refreshing my screen until registration opens :coffee: Just in case :rolleyes1

Wife and I signed up for the DDD! Its gonna be our first west coast race and we'll be getting completing the Coast2Coast too. Sooo excited!!

SO what are the big differences from the WDW races?

I'm all signed up for the Half :) Glad I had already decided against doing Dumbo again seeing as I only just got home from work. Definitely happy to have my registration taken care of. One less thing to worry about now.

Ugh, due to a glitch the final registration step did not work even though we are Premier Passholders. :crazy2: I hope we can get a slot because I really want to do the DDD again this year! So much for our supposed passholder perk. :confused3

No matter where you stay, you'll likely be within walking distance of the start line. So no need to wake up extra early to bus anywhere!

Also, since the parks are so close to one another, you tend to get a lot of concentrated park time during the first half of the race, and then running through the streets of Anaheim during the second half. The drawback is Disney can't have their characters on the streets, but there is still plenty of on-course entertainment, and more easy points of access for spectators.

When you exit backstage from DL, this is what it looks like for the next 2 miles. There is in fact plenty of entertainment along the way though.

You might want to check the WDW annual Passholder website. Had a friend text me saying that though the Disneyland slots were sold out the WDW ones were still open. Not sure if it's true since I haven't had a chance to check. And if it is that's really weird. But just passing the message on.

I am now debating adding the 5k to the DDD. Somewhere between my Mom and my best friend I somehow possibly got talked into getting up a third straight early morning.

Disney could not have made this more annoying. Why couldn't they have had pages up on AP and DVC, so that we could just go back there when it was time. I said I am not whining so this is just facts...when I saw it was live on the AP site I just went through, did not "waste time" seeing if DVC had a page up. And therefore I just spent $10 more than I had to.

Why couldn't they have had a placeholder page? Seems so much easier on everyone to do that.

The discount code wasn't working on DVC link this morning, so even if you went through the site (like I did) you still had to pay the extra $10.

Looking forward to this one. Entered into the DDD. Will be my first West Coast race and my 5th runDisney event. Making the 2,350 mile journey - by plane of course!

Did you enter "DVCRUNDISNEY" in the promo code box when you submitted the payment? Worked fine when I did it today and took $10 off.

Hmmm, at the DVC link I get this for Dumbo after inputting credit card:
Attention! Registration limit check failed for desired events

Guessing that means waiting for general registration, that's pretty frustrating since it sounds like the links were being used by anyone... :sad2:

I tried that code at 9:15am this morning and it did not work, sounds like they got it fixed later on. Oh well, I would rather be assured a spot in the race than save $10.

Could someone PLEASE post link for AP'ers to reg. early for the 1/2.
Thanks

I just tried to registerd for the DDD via DVC and they have already reached the pre-sales limit. The AP DDD has also reached their limit, but the 10K and the 1/2 still have pre-sale slots available. The runDisney girl would not tell me how pre-sale many spots were available, but said the percentage was very low, probably less than 10% of the total runners have been filled, and maybe as few as 2%.

Guess I better cancel my meeting on Tuesday morning and have my computer fired up!

I'm in for the DDD!! I'm so excited. The tink 10k was my first race EVER and I am so hooked.

A question for you run Disney vets, is there an advantage submitting a 10k time over a 1/2 marathon time for proof of time for corral placement? I'm trying to figure out my local races and want to be able to submit a good time before June. I have come up short looking for the answer. Tia!

I've found it easier to get faster time splits at 10ks than at halfs. Also because 10ks are much shorter the difference between paces is a lot less drastic than it would be in a half. An 80 minute 10k is just under a 13 minute/mile pace while a 90 minute is 14:30 min/mile pace. Where as in a half in order to get the same pace that you would get running an 80 minute 10k you would have to run a half in 2:48 and the 90 minute 10k pace would in turn be at 3:09 approximately. That's a 20 minute gap in the half versus a 10 minute gap in the 10k. Point is it is a lot easier to qualify for the faster corrals in a 10k distance with just a slight change in time than it is at the half distance. Since the distance is shorter it allows for more fluctuations in the time.
