**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

Had to cancel our Dapper Day DLH hotel stay..
but switched to August 19-23rd at Best Western Pavillions. Same hotel we stayed at on our honeymoon in 2010 :)

Our 4 year wedding anniversary is August 21st

Ok, I sent in a Facebook request :D

and welcome Astylla!!! Glad your joining us :thumbsup2 I will add in your info to the first page!!! Hope you'll hop in and join in the conversation :D I will be posting a new question of the week tomorrow also so watch for that.

When DD was younger we did Disney themed nights. We based it on a movie and did a meal, movie, and sometimes a craft all based on it. My favorite was our Tower or Terror night where we had a fancy dinner with the best dishes, and wine glasses, dressed up formally, and even took a family photograph.

WELCOME!!!!!! I will add you to the list. Glad to have you join us :thumbsup2

Great idea! We're watching Disney movies and a couple of weeks before we leave, will start listening to Disneyland Park theme songs in the car. (You can get the CDs from the library.)

I also had the kids make Disney-themed savings boxes for spending money and snacks in the park using brown kraft boxes from Michael's covered with Disney scrapbook paper.

I haven't actually had a picture taken of MYSELF in these locations, but there are a few places I quite enjoy to snag some photo ops. Some of them are in DCA and some are in DL. Here are the ones I like in DCA:

I chose Cars Land mainly because when it's dark out, it. is. GORGEOUS. If you can and have PH tickets, I'd highly suggest getting to DCA at night and snagging a few pictures that way.

In DL, of course, on Main Street near the statue with a nice perspective of the park and the castle in the background. Here's a couple more place I like to take pictures with people in/of in a small album I made so that I don't have to inundate the site with photos:

I'm pretty sure I've posted this before but my one photo op I absolutely insist on every trip is a picture of our son on the teacup ride wearing his new ear hat. I will be very sad if he ever feels he is too old for that!

I think there is just some thing special about the train station as you come in the park.

Hmm favourite photo opportunities... Well it's been a few years for us, so things have changed, and I suspect we will have many new favourites in Carsland :goodvibes But here are some of my favourites from our last trip.

Partners statue.

Topiaries.

Castle from different angles.

Haunted Mansion.

The view from Tarzan's Treehouse.

Grizzly Peak.

Mickey's Fun Wheel/Paradise Pier at night.

Apart from that, I love to get photos of all the little Disney details, and character photos of course!

DH and I always get a photo of just the two of us on the bridge near Ariel's. DD6 took it last year for us:

I really like this photo from route 66 too:

And I just love the little door by Alice:

Oh boy, photos are my thing! I literally take thousands at DL in a week. My poor kids learned to stand and smile from a very young age. :) Here are a few from last time we were there. Hard to pick a favorite spot though, but we always get the photos in front of the train station and the castle. In CA by the water with Mickey in the background. And of course all the character meet and greets and every other place there is a Disney photographer. I like to get photos without too many other DL guests in them, not always easy to do though.

So, I didn't think I had a must have photo op, but looking at the last 2 years, it appears that getting my picture with the Mr. Toad statue in Toad Hall on our first day is a must.

It's my first attempt at loading pics.... Wonder if I did something wrong?

Updated- I think it is fixed now... Can anyone see them?

I am so bummed out... I just called to make reservations for Napa Rose on our arrival date only to find out they will be closed for refurbishment Aug 2 thru Mid-September. I was really looking forward to the experience as our big fancy meal for the trip.
:sad2:

So, FYI to anyone else who may have wanted to eat there in August.
