Official 2013 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

B again (21332), just like last year, even though my submitted time was faster this year. I think they either have more corrals or more faster runners this year. Actually, last year's time could have easily put me in C for this year.

So I'm a bit confused! The coral numbers only go up to 13000 yet people are posting numbers in the 22000's. My number is 3399 so I'm in C. Am I missing something?:confused3

1-13,000 is for people who are registered for the 1/2. 20,000 and up are for people who are registered for the DDD.

I'm in D! I moved up 1 from last year.

Also anyone notice in the final race instructions that after you complete the 10k you'll get a wristband that you will then turn in after the half for your dumbo medal. Very similar to coast to coast. I like this!

E is for "excellent...I'm going to be with the Elmer's ". Gryhndmom and her DH will make "E" fun ! I know I'm disappointed too as I was sure I would just be in the elite group:rotfl2: perhaps too many adult beverages ?! :confused3

LMAO!!! That's tooo funny, Lori!! I think you're right, the tasty juice will make E very exciting!! As for the adult beverages, I believe that's why Longhorns2 is in the elite group! Hahahahahaha

I'm coming to DL from New Zealand to do the 1/2.
Can anyone give me an idea of how hot it will be at say 7.30-8am? It is winter here so I'm a bit worried that the heat is going to be a problem for me

Depends if you're up North or in the South. The nighttime temp in Anaheim is the same as Auckland during the day at the moment (about 17 degrees) - as the race is so early it won't get superhot, certainly no worse than training in Auckland in summer.

I'm an ex Kiwi now living in the UK - also heading to the race. Hope to see you at the meet up.

23772 for me - which puts me in E for DDD.

But I didn't have a proof of time - and now I do so need to change up at the Expo (only chip timed 10km race I could find was on July 8th so I was a week late). Proof is a 1.10 10km, so I'm thinking I might move up one to D. My old half pace was 2.15 on a good day to 2.40 on a bad and I'm training at the same pace so that's about right.

Bib numbers and corrals all added up to here. We're gonna have WISH green all over the course looks like! :thumbsup2

For those doing BOTH the 5K and 10K...a facebook group was created for us so we can talk about our special circumstances! :) Send me a pm and I'll give you the link.

We'll be in the same boat I think. We should be able to pull out a 1:12ish at worst (training runs have been consistent 12 min miles but I plan on pushing it for this). Its flat, up at the base of a mountain by a river so should be pretty cool which helps me a ton. Too excited to see what I can pull off to move up! :cheer2:

Thank you. I'm going to do a run this morning with my All Black shirt on to see just how hot its gonna get. Temp about 15'c this morning so if I can't handle this temp then I know I need to rethink what I'm wearing.

Might see you on the course. Good luck with the DDD

:)

Looking at the course maps and timing, is anyone else concerned about 10K front-runners being stuck behind the slower 5K walkers for the second half of the race? The courses overlap, which wouldn't at all be an issue if the two races were held at different times, but by the time the last group of 5k folks start, it will be getting fairly close to the 10k start time. And if the tail end of the 5k are the walkers (which is appropriate, don't get me wrong, I think the 5k walkers should be given all the time they need and deserve, and its equally unfair to them to have faster runners from a different race bumping into and zooming around them), the serious 10k runners will catch up fairly quickly even with the longer course.

Is RunDisney going to have volunteers at each split directing runners back and forth across the two courses? Are they really thinking they will be able to clear the 5k course before the 10k starts? Will the finish line be a mix-up of both sets of runners finishing and getting medals together? Any thoughts?

I assume that there will be a staggered start (about 7-9 minutes later for each corral) for the different corrals? I know that was how it has been done in the PHM and the other WDW races I've been in. I've never run a race at DL and can't seem to find any corral start times so maybe this doesn't happen in DL?

I would hope so. But....sometimes even when rD has volunteers and try their hardest they fail epically. Sometimes it surprises us and their efforts work. I hope there will be ample signage, volunteers, and instructions to keep everyone in their appropriate race, pace and sorted at the finish line so everyone gets what they are supposed to.

Yep, start times will be staggered, just like at the WDW races.

I love the "E for excellent!" I'm in corral E for the 10K - based on the time I think my husband and teen boys can run the 10K. We've decided that I can go ahead if necessary to get a time for corral placement at the PHM at WDW in February. I know it's hard to say for the 10K because this is the inaugural, but do experienced DL runners think will it be hard to dodge in Corral E? Any tips?

Given runDisney's track record with implementing anything new, I'm expecting the worst but hoping for the best. They have never implemented the pace requirement for a 5k. Those starting at the back of the 5k pack just might be run down by the 10k leaders, leading to lots of confusion as far as directions on the course and finish times for the 10k leaders.

It's possible. Does anyone remember the ORIGINAL ToT 13K run? There was also a 6.5K option, and the 13K people had to run through the not as fast 6.5K people through DHS. It wasn't a big problem where I was running (10 min/mile 13K), but slightly awkward. Don't know if the faster runners ran into more of them?
However, I don't believe those races were as big as in number of participants that year, which can make a big impact. The races have gotten so huge anymore.
