Ugh, I can't decide where to stay. I mean, I really want to stay at one of the Epcot resorts, but they're nearly twice as much as CSR. What to do... Saving money is good, but if we're only there for a few nights being walking distance to 2 out of 4 parks would be handy.

I also am having a hard time trying to figure out where to stay. Part of me wants to save money, part of me wants to stay at the polynesian. We are staying friday-wednesday, I have no idea where to stay!

OK. I have a question about the 5K. We are all doing it. My concern is that it now says that you must maintain a 16 mm pace. I just don't know if our 6 year old can keep that pace. How stringent are they on pace at the 5K? I want to make sure he doesn't get "swept!"

I don't want to put him in a stroller. We could carry him part of the way if needed, to speed us up.

Take him out for a couple of practice runs to see if he can do it. My 5 year old daughter did a 5k with me recently and we came in under the 16m/m pace despite a lot if walking. You may not have ton of time for pictures, but I bet he'd be fine. In many of my 5ks, I've come in we'll behind many kids. :-)

They don't care- not really. I did the 5K in 2011 6 mo pregnant. Walked 90% of it (ran between picture stops was all) I finished in like... 52-55 min maybe. Never saw anyone shooing me along, threatening to sweep, or even a single "official" person on the course. And I was NOT even close to being last! Plenty of people behind me.

You guys will be fine! They don't have to clear the roads like they do for the halves since it's all contained in Epcot property.

Get him out for some "training" runs, but I wouldn't even worry about it. Little kids run faster and more than you or they know! :)

This! I did the 5k for ToT and just walked the whole way, not wanting to tire myself out for ToT. It wasn't even a brisk walk. More of a stroll. We weren't last and never felt pressured to even hurry.

I went on a 6 mile hike today with a friend of mine. I was Miss Graceful and slipped, falling right on my tailbone about 3 miles in! It was incredibly painful and I'm worried that I'm not going to get in my long run this weekend :scared:. Not to mention when I slid, I fell into a giant pool of algae/bacteria infested cold water. Luckily my friend is a strong guy, and lifted me up and out quickly, only for me to slip and fall again because my shoes were soaked. Needless to say, I'm pretty beat up after that hike. And I thought I was doin' some special bonding with mother nature, instead she kicked my butt, literally :rotfl:!

I hope everyone is safe out there on their runs! Especially those tackling the snow - I'm happy to be in Arizona reading about all the gear you guys wear. I'm still in tank tops and capris. 70 degrees and almost December :confused3

Oh no! Sorry you got your butt kicked but I am giggling at the visual of it. Hope your tailbone isn't too sore tomorrow.

70 degrees? I don't have to too terrible yet... but I would sure take even a 60 degree day.

Oh no, I hope you are feeling okay today!!

70, I'm jealous. Although I run much faster in the cold (and breath easier), it was a bitter 26 yesterday morning and I just couldn't do it so I hit the treadmill. It feels much warmer today (33) so I'm getting ready to head outside.

I've pretty much decided I'm going to dress as Alice for the race. I know she's not a real princess but my daughter dressed as her for Halloween and she is the current favorite in the house. Now to figure out how to put the outfit together.

Heading to Disney World tomorrow and hoping to get up early Sat and run 5 miles around the AKL just to get a feel for how it is to run around Disney.

2012 princess I wore a $3 old navy thermal long sleeve over my run tanks and I was perfect. It was 52 degrees at 3:45 am last year. With my long run tights i was fine. Didnt need fuggs or anything. I tossed my thermal at the start and never looked back! Perfect weather last year imho :-)

Oh, you northerners. :lmao: I had a 5K a few weeks ago. It was mid-40s, clear, and no wind. I only had to wait outside for about 30 mins, and I was FREEZING. It took a full mile for my toes to warm up and regain feeling. :rotfl2:

LOL, yup! The upside of training in FL is that I'll already have a good feel for what I'll want to have on, come race-day. If last year's Princess 5K was any indication, high-50s will call for full tights, wool socks, long sleeve compression shirt under a short sleeve tech tee, and knit gloves - to run. To hang around in the corral? Add on a fleece top, leg warmers or sweatpants, a hat and either footwarmer packs or fuggs. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Ha ha!! That would probably mean I would do capris and a tee (with my sparkle skirt of course). I would most likely have a throw away top on while waiting in the corral.

It's supposed to be almost 60 this weekend for my 7 mile run.

Lol! One of my last runs it was sunny but in the low 40s. I wore only a short sleeve tech tee. I warm up quick when running- but sitting still I freeze. Looks like I will need to follow the advice of wearing clothing I can toss

Hahah, oh I was laughing right after it happened, definitely! I'm sure it looked hilarious. I'm really sore this morning. My bum, knees, thighs, and arms hate me! But I don't care, I'm going out for a run today! I'm determined. Got to be better for the long one somehow :)

I'm determined to do it regardless! I'm in pain but pain is gain...??

Wow! The coldest I've ran in so far is low 50's. I felt like auditioning for rudolph afterwards because my nose was so cold and red. I don't even want to know what I would feel like in 33 degree weather. I run faster in the 'cold' weather too, probably because I want to get back inside my house and defrost :). But we are showing 70s for the rest of the week... strange for December!

Oh yeah mid 40's i would need gloves. My hands freeze. Mid 40s is still cold especially just waiting! 52 and only getting warmer was ok.

Does anyone else have the problem of your hands swelling while running? Mine do, and they end up looking like the StayPuff Marshmallow Man!

If so, what do you do about it to keep it from happening, or keep it from being so bad?
