Update to my post below...he mapped it and it's only 1.15 miles from the McDonalds to CSR, so no so bad at all! And the part about crossing the intersection and then taking the sidewalk back the way you came...that sidewalk actually curves into the parking lot, so you wouldn't be looking for another sidewalk to take like I originally posted...you just follow it around and you're in! If you play around with Google maps, and pull up that McDonalds in the street view, you can do the "virtual walk" all the way to CSR, cross the street, and you'll see the sidewalk that goes into the property.

HA! Nice job Cripey and BF! I'll be staying at CSR so I'm good to go if I decide I must have the shoes. I'd be more inclined to stand in line to be first at KT booth!

We're at CSR too :thumbsup2 We'll probably be in line early on saturday to get BF a pair...I was lucky enough to get mine at Tink, but I said I'd wait in line with him anyway...and then use that to guilt him into giving me a foot massage before bed saturday night! ::yes::

I'm doing the 5K so not sure I'll be early enough on Fri or Sat. but I promised my wonderful cancer survivor sister I would try to get her a pair! Might be a long line- but I'll try! :)

Are there any plans for meeting up at race retreat??? I'll be going solo before the race, so it would be nice to have someone to talk to or maybe walk to start with (beside the 26000 other princesses)

I think that is a GREAT idea. We are going to drive over from CBR early. I don't need to worry about the traffic so I plan on being there early but we have never done this before so I have no idea what to expect.
I'm heading to the race retreat and DH and son will "nap" in car then head to TTC for spectator viewing.

For those asking about how far the walk is from the bus to the start of the race: after the race last year a women on the bus had a pedometer that she started as she got off the bus before race and stopped when she got back to bus after race. She said it registered over 20 miles (I can't remember if it was 21 or 23). We were all joking about how we should have trained for a full marathon because of the bus drop-off/pick-up point.

I don't remember much from my 1st PHM in 2011. (I think I was so nervous that I blocked everything out.) But I did think that we walked a lot farther in 2012. Did anyone else notice that?

Does anyone know if the bus picks up at Fort Wilderness the morning of race?
Thanks!!

Would love to meet up at race retreat to meet everyone from the thread. Should we all wear some kind of name tags with " DIS thread "username" " ?

I would stand in line for your BF's shoes if he would give me a foot massage !:rotfl2:

20 miles total...wow...anybody else thinking that their long runs should have been LONGER !?:rotfl:

Told DH that others have started packing....he almost had a heart attack when I told him I hadn't even gotten the suitcase out yet !

Has anyone else started packing ?????
More or less, yes! I've got a pile of things sitting in a hamper for now. Can't really pack regular clothes, though, since I'm still wearing them for the next 2 weeks.

I'm in! I'll be there with a group of friends - all of us met many years ago through the DIS. :goodvibes But I'd love to at least say hi to the awesome Princesses on this thread!

That's a good idea. I think I will make a little tag with something like "The_Princess on the DIS" and put on my t-shirt, maybe on the back.
Does anyone know the number of RR-tickets in total??? I'm having trouble finding out how crowded it will be.

I have a coworker that is signed up for the race and the race retreat. She will not be going to either. Is there a correct way for her to offer her bib and retreat to someone else without her taking a loss?

I messaged you!

In the old thread there was a couple posts about people having pinching/stabbing pains in their hips. I tried to explain methods I used to help stretch it, but I probz failed with a majority of direction.

ANYWAYY I know it's a few months later... But I saw this post on pinterest today and figured it could *still* maybe help those who are tight/pinching/suffering. Thought I might share so anyone else who wants to benefit from it, can.

Stretch stretch stretch! :cheer2::cheer2: A little over two weeks away, ladies! :cool1:

Ok, so brainstorming this AM on the way to work with the BF...I was telling him of the issues we were discussing here yesterday with others getting to the expo early to line up for the popular stuff since busses aren't supposed to start running until 8:30...we've come up with some contingency plans if parking at DTD and taking a cab doesnt' work...first, how bad do you all want this stuff? :rotfl2:

First plan, if you are staying at any of the All-Stars and are willing to put your walking shoes on, you can walk to CSR...he said there's a sidewalk the whole way, straight shot so you can't get lost, and it's maybe 2 miles away (he was going to look up his run from last year when we stayed at All-Star to get an exact distance...he ran from there to CSR, and then some, one morning so he was going to try to map it for yall!) He said once you get to CSR, the sidewalk is on the other side of the street so you have to cross over (it's at a light though, so you can do it safely) then walk back the direction you came I think he said like 25 feet or so and you'll come to another sidewalk to your right that leads directly into one of the CSR guest parking lots, bypassing any security stop that the busses and cars have to stop for. He said he took that pathway and ran around the grounds that AM to add some distance to his run and never encountered anything that would have stopped him, nor was he ever in any area that guests weren't supposed to be...so no need to wear any ninja gear ;)

If you aren't staying at All-Star, the back up plan would be to take a taxi from your hotel to the McDonalds that's right there on the corner before you get to the All-Star properties (sorry, I don't know any street names, I never pay attention when we're there!) and do the above plan from there. Then once you're finished with the expo, you can use the transportation provided to get back to your hotel, so no more walking.

So, anybody crazy enough to try this?? :p

Or take a taxi from your hotel to the Winter Summerland Miniture Golf, it's a closer walk to Coronado than from the McD. The parking lot at the Mini Golf and Blizzard Beach never closes

Corrals are up on rundisney.com as well as final race instructions!!!! Bib 7058 corral C...soo excited for the race...two weeks!
