Just finished my first " long run" of 4 miles in 45:03. (run/walk in true Galloway style) It's a start, but 11.5 min per mile is a far shade from that 10 minute a mile pace I want to run at! It was also my first ever run in temps below 30 degrees, I had a head wind most of the way. 13.1, here I come. :cool1:

Celebrated with some awesome steak, broccoli, and garlic mashed potatoes...whole meal was 499 calories. Since we're beef producers, the steak was A W E S O M E (found recipes on Cooking Light for my iPad.)

Keep hitting the road Disney Junkies...can't wait til 2013.

Sorry, so excited, had to share with fellow runners. Aren't endorphins fun?

I'm planning to do the Princess in 2013. This will be my first half. I've heard it is a good "first." Any other first time half runners planning to do it? Farthest I've run is a 10k then I got derailed by injury and PT. Now, I feel like I'm starting from scratch so I got the Couch 2 5K program and am going to try that out.

Congrats on the run! Love your dinner, sounds similar to what we had. DH bought me the Cooking Light Fresh Food Fast cookbook, and we are really enjoying the recipes. I have lost 10 pounds since the 1st of the year:cool1:

If any of you are going to be 2013 first time marathoners, you might want to check out this video.

Well, okay, everyone might want to check it out. :wizard:

I'll agree that the Princess Half is a great first! I did it in 2011 as my first ever half marathon (I'm hoping to go Goofy in 2013, so I won't be doing it that year). I hope to do it again someday.

Good luck coming back from your injury...you have well over a year so you'll be fine! :thumbsup2

Me! I'm a first timer! The furthest I've ran is 4 miles. :scared1:

Thats great! Congrats!!

Hey all! I'm in for 2013 (Goofy for me) and can not wait to register. I already booked my room (ok I'm a bit OCD) but have no idea when registration opens. I hope soon! Happy training everyone.:cheer2::cheer2:

I am pretty sure I will be going next year to do my FIRST HALF MARATHON! The longest I have done are 2 separate 10 mile runs so I am looking forward to it!!!!! It’s something I have wanted to do for years. I have another 10 milers coming up in March so right now I am just getting ready for that.

Does anyone know:

(1) When registration opens; and
(2) When Disney will have their rates for 2013 so I can “Officially” book our hotel!

I can’t wait!

I love your excitement! We all share in your enthusiasm and are looking forward to the next Marathon Weekend! :goodvibes

I believe registration will open in mid-March. I am not sure about rates for 2013....

Assuming I finish 2012 and the end of the Mayan is a passing date and not the actual end of the earth, I will be there in 2013 also
Hey if the world ends at the end of 2012 at least the half will be a little less crowded.

Thanks for sharing that.

I'm in for the goofy. Trying to talk DW into the full but she'll probably do the half instead. She'd like to do the relay, but it sounds like that one may not be an option in 2013. Anyone know when we'll hear if they are going to do that again?

I think you can book 2013 before the official rates are released. The rate you're charged is the most expensive rate for the year (2012). So if you're booking room only, you'll pay one night at the peak rate. Once the 2013 rates are released, your reservation gets readjusted and the extra you paid is applied toward your balance. At least that's what happened to me a few years ago when I booked before next year's rate was released.

Pretty sure Vicky has it right on the money there. As for when registration opens, the rumour I've seen floating around is April, though I'd heard it was usually March (and it was open in March this year) in the past. :confused3

I love this thread. I read through the entire thing last night. After reading that 2013 is the 20 year anniversary I thought "hmmmm, can I do a full marathon" -- Something I said I would NEVER do -- Now all of you crazy people have me reconsidering! :rotfl2: :worship:

I am still not sure yet -- I may just stick with the half -- but all of this talk of running had me sign up for yet another race today -- The Phillies Second Annual 5K around Citizens Bank Park -- Another fun run to look forward to! :woohoo:

Thanks for all of your help -- I think I will hold off on booking a hotel until the rates come out -- because it all depends on the specials they are offering as to what hotel we can stay at -- we are hoping for Fort Wilderness Lodge but it may be too expensive -- If it is, our second choice is Port Orleans Riverside.

You could always book and then when discounts come out, call up and have them apply it to your existing account. We did that this January.

Hi everybody!

Both DH and I are in for the full in 2013. Wasn't going to but its an anniversary year so....:rolleyes1

Patrick and a friend of ours had been considering Goofy but while on the course this year decided against it. :lmao: I did it in 2010 - the year of the frozen course. Not sure that is something I want to do again.
