Ditto! Hope you were able to run pain free!

I made it! It definitely wasn't the fastest time out there but I was able to cross the finish line with very little trouble at all.

I am a little sore this morning. I think I pushed a little too hard yesterday. I was frustrated by the "slow" start and wanted to make up time.

Also, bottlenecks on course we're ridiculous. Animal Kingdom seems to stick out as one giant bottleneck.

I now recall someone saying you don't often PR at Disney races. Luckily since it was my first official half, I did technically PR.

Bring on January!

Glad to see I'm not the only one awake! It was fun to meet a few of you last night. We ended up skipping the after party. My friend wasn't feeling well and I decided to go back with her. I also didn't want to get all the way into the park and then have to walk back to the bus! :-)

I was only able to sleep for about 3 1/2 hours and then my legs were awake and needing ice and Advil :-).

I got about 4 hours in until I woke up. Mine was due to a stupid internal clock though that always wakes me up around 6/6:30. Although waking up early did give me plenty of time to upload my pictures onto my computer, facebook, and my blog (link in my sig for a recap)! I figure if I'm up I might as well be productive...

Great job last night everyone!

I got a PR but I mainly attribute it to low elevation! 8 min. faster than my PR set over 10 years ago! Happy with my time of 207.58 as I don't consider myself a fast runner.

Exact same situation here. Slept 4 hours before legs and feet woke me. We didnt get to bed until 3:30 am. Haven't fallen back asleep. Plans for HS 1-closing. Hope I can stay awake.

DD12 got a text after 6 hours of sleep and couldn't go back to sleep either.

About five hours sleep here. But yeah, I had to get moving and feel tons better. Gonna scarf some tasty morsels at Epcot and then headed home.

Did anyone else miss the African guys on stilts in the middle of the road? The waving butterflies on the side of the road were a poor substitute...:sad2:

Overall, I had a GREAT time! I pulled my calf at 2011 W&D, so this one was MUCH better. I even made it onto Spaceship Earth and Soarin' before heading back to the resort and in bed by 3am.

Went to Sweet Sundays this morning at 10am at Epcot, a baking/cooking demo by Warren Brown of Cake Love in DC. I was up in plenty of time. My legs were sore and making it hard to sleep.

Great job everyone! Save travels home to all. :drive:

So funny everyone else was up early too. I got about 5 hours and couldn't stand it anymore. Doing a lot better today than I expected. And I'm so darn happy I stuck out the training through all the injuries and made it!

Would have made my "goal" time too but I stopped for a pic w wreck it ralph for DS. Meant more to me by that point than a few minutes as DS is really into that character now. :)

I found the animal kingdom entrance congested too but otherwise I sorta just felt like I was weaving through park crowds on any old Disney day. :)

So happy today and I've actually made it all the way from France to Mexico and still going! But these crowds are insane!

Great job everyone!

Are you in EPCOT today? We were thinking of going over since we skipped the after party, but maybe not.

Sorry to miss you guys last night. Just couldn't get all my other business done in time to make it: bathroom, bag check, etc.

Wow, the race was congested! Can't even imagine bigger races. I thought I would have been a little faster, but there were just so many people to get by. Had tummy issues at mile 5. Was really surprised to have cramps so early on. It was after I ate ONE Stinger chew. (I will never, ever, EVER eat another Stinger. Ever.) Never had cramps *during* a run. Usually after. Had to walk mile 7-8 to level out. Slowed me down. Got better. Made it to finish line and almost cried, but then I was too sick at my tummy. Took a cab back. Hubby and his bro. partied. Went to bed at 3:15/3:30. Woke up at 8ish. Ate a little something and went back to bed at 11 and up again at 1. Excited for celebratory dinner at 1900 Park Fare in just a little bit. The Cinderella Slipper dessert is my reward/prize for completion of the half.

Oh, those Osborne Lights were totally the best part of the race, to me!!! Saw Darth Vader. Wanted a pic so bad, but I didn't want to wait in line. Did get a pic by mile 12 and 13.

Congrats to all of you! Job well done!!! Enjoy wearing your medal! Or medals to those who earned the Coast to Coast. Have a good day peeps!

It depends on your expectations. World showcase is crowded but future world not so much. And the kiosk lines have moved quickly.

Weve had a good time!

Agree about he bottlenecks. I thought the section between Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk was horrible. Lots of bumping into people trying to get through there. Probably my only complaint.

That was the most crowded for me too and I was pretty close to the end and it was still narrow and crowded.

The freaking osborne lights are up already??!!! Amazing for you guys!!!

hi all. sorry to miss the wish meetup, I was in line for mickey the entire time! I even waited for the bathroom while my husband held the place in the mickey line. we were one of the last few to meet him, then minnie, then we used the bathroom again then headed to corral d. and guess what I had to pee again by mile 2! lol.

this was my first 1/2 and I enjoyed most of it. I started out slow, had a few good miles, then started feeling sick around mile 8. Stopped for pictures at the tree of life and with the army guy and woody. Finished at 3 hrs 56 seconds. Our goal was under 3 hrs, I thought we could pull off 2.45 or so, but I guess with all the crowds, it was too hard. I also had a lot of leg pain that surprised me!

feeling ok now, back at home in kansas!

While I haven't been on this thread just wanted to say congrats to all! It was my first 1/2, and we (dh and I) actually made it. Thought it was a blast. My time was nowhere near what y'all have posted...we started in F and were trying to stay under the minimum pacing. :cheer2: thought Disney did a great job with the whole event.

hey everyone, on the flight home, hope you all enjoyed the race. This was my first wine and dine, and I thought it was awesome - I'll be running it next year. Way better than tower of terror 10 miler.

I was randomly on the first bus from the boardwalk over to the starting area, so literally got the 2nd or 3rd picture with mickey and minnie at the start (what that huge line was for). Met up with some friends. I was up in corral A so the course didnt seem too crowded to me on the course. And stayed at the after party till around 3 - some of the booths got crowded later on in the evening, but most of the ones I went to moved very quickly. The cast members were very funny early on while the party was basically empty - dancing/etc.

Here are some additional thoughts I have on the whole experience. This was my first half marathon ever, so I have nothing else to compare to.

Overall, I think Disney did a great job with this event.

We stayed at the Beach Club and never had trouble with getting a bus. There was always someone at the bus stop letting us know when the next bus was coming and where we needed to wait.

A couple of minor things.

1. There were parts of the course that seemed way to narrow. I was literally bumping into other people trying to pass because of this. This was mainly between HS and the Boardwalk.

2. At the after party, it was a mess at the crosswalk they had set up to allow people to get between FW and WS. It only opened every 4 minutes, and then only so many people could get across at once. This led to a big bottleneck at that area and lots of confusion.

3. I know there is nothing Disney can do about this. We were in corral C and right at the front. Within half a mile of starting, we were already passing a good amount of corral B people who were walking. Maybe this is normal, but if you are in corral B, I would not think you should be walking half a mile into the race. That tells me that you probably should not have been there. People also should have remembered to move to the right if they needed to slow down and walk.

Other than this, the after party was a great time. We had done F&W the day before so we did not need to worry about sampling a lot of things. We walked around, had a few drinks and just enjoyed the atmosphere. We left close to 4, and there were still a lot of people in WS, so I am not sure how much longer it took to clear them all out.

Hey everybody! Well, we did it!! :cool1: I got way too aggravated with the crowds in the parks (especially Animal Kingdom) and hate my final time (2:48) but live and learn right? It was great meeting everyone, :grouphug: I just wish it wasn't so loud and I could have heard alot of you better! As I was sitting in the middle of corral F of course I suddenly had to go to the bathroom. I refused to get out of place so sucked it up until the first pit stop. That was almost the best thing I saw all night!:lmao::lmao: Stopped for pics with Chip'n'Dale and Pluto and spent the rest of the time imitating a pinball ball :sad2:. I think adrenaline got me through the first 6 miles (did you see the 1st guy already running back to DHS just as we were coming up to the 1st mile?!?) I was able to manage my mess of a knee right up to the funky laser light thing at the finish and crossed the line gritting my teeth.:headache: But one stop at the UK and a big fat Bailey's on the rocks help that out!:rotfl: We got back to the room at 3am and I was wide awake at 5 replaying the whole night in my head. Needless to say, I was out at 8:30 last night and wanted to shoot my alarm when it went off at 6am today! Hobbling around the past couple of days but already trying to figure out when I can run again.

Probably won't do a Disney run again because of the crowds:crowded:, but glad I did this one.princess: Kimberly, hope you have a great cruise!:boat: Figs, keep on truckin' chica and come visit anytime, Ashy, so sad we missed you :sad1: but that's the beauty of pixie dust pixiedust:...you never know what may happen! And to the rest of you who's name I either couldn't hear or remember, thank you for being part of an incredible memory! Ears off to you all and congratulations on finishing!!!!:cheer2::grouphug:
