Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

I'm on day 13 of a viral infection and I leave for WDW on Monday!!! Haven't been training, infact this was my first full day back to work. I just pray I get rid of this soon.:crazy2:

Whew! Finally done with Halloween. Our town rescheduled trick or treat after the storm. I did my run this morning inside because it was in the 30s and I'm trying to avoid the colds you all seem to be catching and I'm dead tired. I'm ready for the race to be here already! I started packing too- in my suitcase there are two pairs of socks and flip flops. :) but I did make a pretty thorough list of my running stuff that I don't want to forget. We don't leave until Friday night! :(

Made it through my 3 mile run in costume tonight. Went a lot better than I thought, so I feel better about next week. I pack tomorrow since I leave Monday morning. Maybe I've been able to get through this cold quicker because of all the running I've been doing. Good luck to all.

Spent ALL DAY packing yesterday for myself and kids 12 and 8. (We will be in Florida 2 weeks). Pulled out our WDW box and had fun looking through all the nick knacks we only take to Disney. Still not done but about 90% done. Have to concentrate on sub plans and report cards at work this week. We leave Friday after school.

Woke up with soar throat too this morning. Haven't been sick in about a year. Glad at least that I have 6 days to get better. Off to run 4-5 miles.

i am so excited! i didn't train as well as i had hoped, but that pretty much is always how it goes with me.
I am not going to be making a great time but I plan on having a great time!

Going out for my run this afternoon...hoping to do about 6-7 miles. I am starting to pack today. I don't leave until Thursday afternoon, but doing a bit here and there will lessen the chance of me forgetting anything (even though I have a list).

Good Luck! I did my 7 yesterday and tried this new hill (they just opened a connecting road in our area with an awesome running path on the side). Yes, it was only 7 miles, but beating that sucker gave me a great feeling of accomplishment.

Scheduled to leave Wed am here - starting the packing today - figure all my "good" running stuff can be packed at this point. Any runs/walks between now and then can be without the watch, armband, compression sleeves, etc.

Washing clothes and packing some more. Trying to get it almost done tonight. Two blisters just popped up last night from my 11 mi last week. Haven't had one blister in 17 weeks of tng. and now 2 with race day next Sat. Go figure! Oh well, "You've got to learn to live with the pain, if you want to play the game." Hoping they heal by Sat. but will muddle through no matter what. :) 4 more days until we leave!!!!!!!

That's me too!

pixiedust: for those who are not feeling well and safe travels to those of you who are lucky enough to be leaving already! :cool1:

Did anyone pipe up with the historical sweep points? Not that I am planning on being swept just like to have an idea if I can consider myself safe, as long as I am making good progress, before Epcot. ;)

Don't forget our WISH meet Saturday at 8:30 pm by the information booth on the runner's side and pictures at 8:45 p.m.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon! :goodvibes

Plutobaby - go drink some OJ and sleep from now until race day to knock out those germs! Plus... postive thinking.... you are not getting sick... you are not getting sick.... you are not getting sick.....:wizard:

Thanks for the positive vibes Fig:goodvibes! I'm good. Took it easy on Saturday and jogged a nice, slow 5.5 today. Not the 10 I had planned on but it will have to do. It's also handy I have doc connections and got right on a Z-pack Friday!:cool1: Going to relax this week but stay loose with a couple yoga classes and an easy 45 minute jog on Tuesday. Up to the Mouse Thursday night and hopefully just an easy 1-2 miles on the hotel treadmill Friday afternoon just to stay loose.:thumbsup2

Anyone else dog tired lately? I have been sleeping way more than normal (for me) and even napping sometimes. I have had a very hectic schedule the last month so I cant decide if it's my normal burnout during this time of year or if its from all the running. I figure it could also be all the stupid Halloween candy and carbs messing with my blood sugar. This is my first half. So i have a feeling it's more the burnout and all this crazy running and packing and Christmas shopping!

Ashysmashy- hope your blisters heal quickly! I have one on my toe that im praying doesn't pop before sat. Been using Vaseline on it.

Question about shirts. I found a "throwaway" shirt from dh's pile in the back of the closet! Yay for saving a few bucks and not having to get something new to toss. When we wear these, can we wear them over our regular running shirt that has our bib pinned on it as long as we show the bib to get in the corral and toss the shirt before the start?

Thanks Fig. I popped my two last night and have been putting neosporin/bandaids on them. Learned a good lesson about my new Nike Air Dry socks and won't be wearing them Sat. night. They were reasonably new and haven't been washed a lot yet. Lesson learned. Will wear my trusty older socks for sure.

Yep! You can just pull up your shirt and show them your bib to get past the monitors.

Last one, don't know how to multiple reply with my iPad - sorry! I've been tired and having a hard time sleeping lately, I thought it was the time change but think the carbs have something to do with it.

Blisters bite - I had one from my awesome cheetah heels - lesson learned! Neosporin and blister bandaids are my best friends. Also, hint - don't wear the same pair of shoes through the parks all day. If you can, switch up mid-day.that helped after getting a massive blister on the ball of my foot a few years ago.

Is it time yet?!?! I want to put on my costume and hustle my bustle (literally :))through the parks, I'm getting so antsy!

I did 10k yesterday with a final gear/wardrobe check. Everything seems to be working fine. I am trying to decide if I really want to carry my camera with me since I don't take many pictures. I carried it yesterday, so I know I have a spot for it.

I washed my stuff last night and am ready to start packing. I leave Friday morning.
