Hi all! I am in. This will be my 3rd W&D. I debated skipping it this year cause we have so much stuff going on this fall, but this is my favorite race and I didn't want to miss it. Still not sure if Mike is going to come along as well.
I think this is a very mentally challenging race (the whole late night, warm temps, etc stuff) but running through the parks at night is so fun! And I love running past BW/BC on the way to the finish.
Looking forward to meeting some new folks. Last year at a meet at DTD it was just me, Mike and Courtney (are you around this year Courtney?) so hoping to meet some other Dissers.
As for the question about eating--what works for us is a big breakfast around 10:00 and then a snack around 3:00. We usually have cheese, hard boiled eggs and hummus in our room or we might have ice cream. I try to not overdo it on the walking on the day of the race and in the late afternoon we usually park it somewhere and watch a football game or go somewhere to people watch. Something that involves sitting. I am not a good napper, but sitting and relaxing seems to help. We met people at the BW pool bar who were having beers the afternoon of the race--I worry too much about dehydration--but they were definitely relaxed!
Mike will eat a banana right before the race and last year I had a Lara bar. The big thing is to stay hydrated during the day. Disney does not sell gatorade on property, so if you want gatorade during the day you need to bring your own in. I am not a fan of powerade.
I am really hoping the change in dates will mean awesome running temps.
