Good luck to anyone racing this weekend. I have a 5K tomorrow. It's a team trail run. They combine the ages and the times of each person, then score it from there. I'll be running through woods, across streams, etc. My teen son and I are running.:goodvibes

I ran my 2nd 5K this morning. Shaved a little over 2 minutes off my first 5K time. Yay! That much closer to Disney! I did have a wardrobe malfunction, though. I have lost so much weight that my skirt & underwear kept falling down. My underwear ended up just underneath my cheeks, but I just kept running. I hope my skirt hid it well. Guess it's time to buy some smaller clothes!

:yay:
Registered my 35 YO DD and myself for the 2 person relay for Princess. So excited. I did the infamous 2010 Disney Half in the sleet and snow and was able to finish. Came in 17,000 something in a field of 22,000 :rotfl2: but hey! I didn't get swept! Much misery that day...finally got feeling in my feet about 3 pm that afternoon. Didn't go to the park that day--all I wanted to do is get WARM. I'm a south Texas girl and freeze solid below 40*. All in all I still would not have missed it for anything.

I checked the Farmer's Almanac for the week (Feb. 2012)...mild. YES!

Sprained my ankle about 8 weeks ago and am ready and rarin' to go. Six miles for me is a walk in the park. Literally, that's where I train. The Park around the corner. Ten-fifteen pounds to lose and I shall be ideal :thumbsup2

I did 8.5 today, and it took SO long to get from 7 to 8.5. This is the first time I've questioned my sanity about this, but it felt good to get 8.5 done :cool1:

Hi Ladies..... Will you guys be running with music that day or not. Not sure if you can at the race???

Anyone have any inputs.

2) What kind of mind games do you play with yourself to keep running and to avoid stopping when the brain is saying I want to quit?
I didn't run with music, and it didn't bother me at all. I was so excited to get to experience all the entertainment on the course that I didn't miss my tunes.
This morning I ran my race with my earbuds in my spibelt with my phone so I could listen if I got to a point that I needed a little pumping up. I didn't touch them at all because I ran with a pace group and we talked most of the way.
Hi ladies,
I was wondering for those of you who have run it before, did you go to a park after the race? Has most of the morning passed that it is too late to go to a park?

Not sure how one feels after, having been up by 3 am, how long I would last for the day?
I went to the parks right away and it helped so much to keep my legs from getting too stiff and sore. It was a slow park day, but it was so awesome walking around the parks with my medal on!

Oh yeah, HOW could I forget about the medal!? It's obligatory to wear it the rest of the day. You'll love the nice comments from CMs and fellow princesses! I have to fly out in the late afternoon, but I definitely always wear mine through the airport (though I have to reluctantly remove it to put in a change pan to get through the metal detector at security). The best part is the knowing smile and nod from other medal-wearers who are also walking slowly and stiffly.

We flew out that evening, and had our bus pickup at around 3. Luckily we were staying at the BWV, and could walk to the hotel and rely on disney transportation. I wore my medal all the way home. When I got food at the airport in Charlotte, the lady taking my order asked if I won the race:lmao:

When I was a distance swimmer I found that distracting my mind with anything and everything usually helped me trick myself into going. Or, I would actually count down how much I had left. I still count down my miles when I'm running half marathons and I'll mentally cheer myself on. Just remember, you can always be your own biggest supporter! :cheer2:

After I get to the half way mark I do a count down too. I always say after half way it is all down hill. :goodvibes

You do know it is a team and not a relay, right?

I hope the weather is mild for the race. This year was a little warm but now I have it in my mind that that is how it will be. I think I will be happy as long as it is dry.

It never occurred to me to wear mine through the airport but I did see one lady in the restroom at the airport who was wearing hers and she started talking to me because I was wearing the tech shirt we got.

I did wear it through the parks though, and even ran into Jeff Galloway and his wife while catching the boat from HS and he congratulated me. Pretty cool. :cloud9:

Congrats on your PR! Sorry to hear about your underwear!:scared1: Glad it didn't slow you down. (Great job on the weight loss, too.)

If I finish this race I don't think I will ever take my medal off!!:rotfl2:

I always run with music. In fact, my app changes the beat of the music to match my pace. At this point in my training it's the only way I can keep a steady pace and not slow down to a stop when I'm getting tired. I'll be bringing my music along for the princess, not only for the pacing, but to regulate my walk/run ratios. My app also gives me running tips and positive reinforcement when the going gets tough.

Would you mind sharing what app you use? thanks!:goodvibes

Okay - total Disney Dork yesterday! Rec'd the mail I had been anxiously awaiting - my Unofficial Disney 2012 guide! Seriously, I know that I really don't need a guide, but I love to immerse myself in that thing!!! I had been reading "Great Expectations" and actually really enjoying it, but last night Pip got pushed aside for Mickey. Had a lovely evening (DH & 2 DS boy scout camping) picturing what all we will be doing come the Princess!

Yay!! Congrats on losing the weight!! I love the feeling of having to buy something in a size smaller :thumbsup2

That is AWESOME news :thumbsup2

Hey so I'm trying to book my trip out there and I was wondering who has found the best deal for a hotel? Also has anyone used priceline for this trip and named your own price what star level did you choose and how much did you bid and where did you get accepted.

What amenities do you want?

Personally if I'm flying in for a race I'd have to save about $250 to stay off-property to balance the cost of a rental car plus having to take a car to the race.

If you're driving to WDW that number would change somewhat, of course.

We are for sure looking off property. Really just a place to sleep at night nothing too great We probably won't even rent a car if the hotel we get has transportation to a park.

If you don't want to rent a car, and you want to do the princess, you may consider staying at a value resort. The off site hotels wont have 3 am busses...although you could always take a cab, too.

I'm not sure that too many non-Disney area hotels have their shuttle operating at 3AM for the race, nor to the ESPN sports complex the day prior for packet pickup. If you won't have a car, your best bet is really a Value Resort for the least lodging cost plus local transport.
