I liked your page Heather. I am on FB a lot anyway and I need all the motivation I can get.

That was kind of my thinking. I can get on Facebook on my phone easily so I'll be able to update that a lot more once the kids start back to school tomorrow (:scared1:)

First of all, welcome and congrats on your weight loss! You're truly an inspiration!
If you like the support of the ladies in this thread, then you'll LOVE the support and atmosphere of the princess weekend. It's really hard to describe to someone who hasn't been there how supportive everyone is, and the amazing bond that we all share that weekend. I was blown away by how awesome the people I came into contact with that weekend were. People in my corral before the race, along the course, at the finish, and around the resort afterward were so supportive. You truly have to experience it!

Thanks so much! This definitely gives me even more motivation to make this work! The hard part for me (as for most people, I'd guess!) is just finding time in my crazy schedule to get regular exercise so I can train. But.. if you guys can make it work, I am sure I can too. :cheer2:

I recently got fitted for shoes at a local running store here in Atlanta. I let the employee talk me into a 1/2 size bigger then I had been wearing. I felt like my feet were swimming these last 3 weeks and was starting to feel pain around my ankles and I even lace my shoes in a way to tighten then up around the heel. I was so upset thinking I had wasted my money on these shoes. I went back to the store with the shoes explaining the problem and they let me try on the smaller size which feel awesome. They took back the bigger pair, gave me the smaller pair and said have a nice day no charge. :yay:So the moral being find a great running shoe store that has a fit process and a good return policy. Now that I have shoes that will work I won't have to move backwards in my training.

I completed the Princess Half earlier this year - my first!! (I walked most of it) I took a few months off from training and have just recently started the Galloway plan for beginners as I train for the 2012 Half. Have any of you had success with this plan?? I'd like to improve my time just a little so I can relax and make a few more photo stops! Any tips or suggestions??

I haven't run a half yet, but my pace is improving. I went from just running and walking intervals whenever I felt like it to a strict :30 run to 1 min walk. I went from a 15 min mile to a 13:30 min mile for a 5K. I haven't moved my distance from 4 miles yet, but now that my shoe situation is corrected I plan on getting back on track.

Thanks, Melissa!! That's the encouragement I am looking for! Keep up the great work!!

I had the exact same problem last year. Got fitted and they talked me into the half size up and it didn't feel good at all. Actually, I was diagnosed with my shin stress fracture a week later, and didn't get around to returning them until 2 months later and they still gave me a full refund (as they didn't have the half size down by then, shoe was on closeout).

That's interesting to hear about the larger sizes not working. I got fitted and miy running shoe is 1 1/2 sizes bigger than my regular shoe! But it's seemed to work for me - I ran for almost a year without injury and even then my PT said my shoes weren't the problem. Is anyone else running in a shoe so much bigger than their regular? My everyday shoe is a 6, but my Brooks are a 7.5.

Yes, my husband convinced me to go a size bigger in my running shoes, and it has worked quite well.

yes, I wear 6.5 and I got fit for Saucony 7.5. I did find after wear for about 200miles I noticed they did feel big, stretched out. So i ordered the same shoe in a 7, much better. When They get too loose they feel like Bozo shoes!

Does anyone know if you stay at Poly can you take monorail to start? and can spectators go to MK early too to watch?

This is WAAAYYY off topic, but I'm so excited I just had to share with my WISH friends!!
