I'll be solo for the race too. I expect that the fam will be with me for the trip unless something very unexpected happens, but they may leave the day before because school starts the day after the race, and even if they stay, I'm not sure they'll get to the finish, since it's tough for my son to deal with waiting around in crowded places (yet we go to Disney, thank you disability accommodations!). So I would love to meet up with you all. I expect that by next February we'll all know each other pretty well! :)

Last year DD#2 and I ran together (we were both semi- walking wounded - me with a broken toe, her with an asthma flare up) We ran and finished together I hope to do the same with all 3 girls this year as non of us is worried about PRing- just enjoying the race (infront of the sweepers at least a half hour LOL) together.

I'm booked right now solo, but am trying to find someone to go with me still. I ran the race solo last year, and had so much fun! I was jealous a little when I passed groups that looked like they were having a blast, but when I also passed groups that were walking because one person was hurting, it made up for my jealousy. I prefer to run solo and take races at my own pace.

That is soooo me!! I am going with 3 other ladies and all of them are hard core runners while I am a beginner runner who does Jeff Galloway. I just feel in my bones that I will find my special disfriend and we will encourage each other along the way!

My girls and I will have all of our bonding time before the race and after but I definetely dont want to feel like I am holding them back. Currently I am a 13ish per mile pace hopefully by race day and plenty of posting I can find my dis buddy:banana: to run with.

Your dis buddy sounds like me. :) I haven't registered yet, but I am training the Jeff Galloway way and my pace is around the same as yours. What intervals are you doing?

Hi Disneyfreak1,

I see you are in Fla. How are you doing in this heat?
Right now I am training at a 2run 1 walk interval. I hope to try a 3:1 soon but not till Fall. The heat and trying to increase slowly has been challenging to me.
I love the training plan that came with the race details. I am in Atlanta, so I understand training in heat and humidity!

The heat is killing me. During the week, I have to wait until 8:30 or 9:00 at night and it's still too hot! On the weekends, I have to run super early to beat the heat! :confused3

Had my first long run with my luluemon sports bra and loved it. This one was with the "energy bra" and it was so nice not to have straps cutting into my neck the whole time. Will try the other one I bought (50 rep bra). later in the week. Hope training is going well and everyone stay cool!

Apologies in advance to starting a little RVA slightly off topic info.

Thanks for the info about lululemon! My trainer also recommended Three Sports (one location in the city and one in Short Pump). I'm heading to both places tomorrow while the kids are in camp. :thumbsup2

As far as running locations, currently, other than the gym, I run on the track in Byrd Park by the entrance to Maymont. It is soft gravel which is much easier on my knees than the street. Plus it is very well shaded by huge trees.

:cheer2::cheer2: Go RICHMOND Princesses!:cheer2::cheer2:
:banana::banana::banana: AND EVERYONE ELSE!!!:banana::banana::banana:

I live on Southside and hubby and I are kind of stuck in a rut running at Rockwood Park all the time. We will definitely go to Byrd Park and train some there for the sake of our old joints and feet. Are you by chance running the Pony Pasture 5K the end of this month? Beautiful - out and back on Riverside Drive, and last year I won a door prize - a bottle of wine!!:goodvibes

So I could have sworn that I posted an update, about 2 weeks ago, but it's not there.

We are finally in FL!!!! For those who don't remember because it's been a billion years since I posted, DH was laid off in January in Ohio and we opened up our job search to FL and he got a job!! YAY! So, we are currently renting a vacation home until we find a house to buy. Did I mention that this house is 8 minutes from Disney gates?:cool1:

With all of the craziness, I haven't been running as much as I want to and I'm still trying to figure out the best time to run in FL. B/C I slacked off before the move, when I started back up, I was back on week 4/5 of C25K.

Ok, I really will get caught up soon and should have some time to check in from now on!

I looked at the lululemon bras and I am not sure they would work for me. I am pretty, umm, full-figured (i.e. large-sized in most ways) and only a few of their bras seem to come in traditional bra sizes. None of them are, well, plus-sized. I am sort in between regular and plus at the moment, but most of their stuff seems to be on the lower end of regular sizes.

Also, how do you feel about not having the clasp in the back? I have the worst luck getting them off after being all sweaty unless you can just unhook...

I'm definitely with you there. Hoping to meet someone who will run my pace, complete the race and taking lots of pictures along the way without getting swept ;) I am so happy to be on this forum.

Kat, I absolutely LOVE front fastening sports bras, because it's much easier to get out of them when you're sweaty, but also because being ridiculously well endowed myself, I've found that front fasteners have more support in the back, i.e. a larger back, which holds me in place better. Does that make any sense??

:thumbsup2 I am sure there will be alot of people who will keep pace with you and willing to take photos.
I am an experienced runner and running with my daughter for her 1st half!! I am so excited for her and everyone else, so plan on being a cheerrunner!!
It's about the journey and finish. Have fun!

I play tennis (in skirts) and decided to look into tennis dresses and skirt for the princess half since they are breathable and designed for long heavy duty workouts.
I think I found a tennis dress that will work for Belle. Now I just need to find it cheaper. :thumbsup2

That dress is super cute! If there was a company that made reasonably priced princess themed running outfits, they would do super well if they just marketed for this event.

That is super cute! Now you've got me thinking about getting the pink and black one

Yeah, that one is cute too. So is the purple one.

This is another good site for anyone who wants a skirt or dress but not an over the top princess look. I've ordered from them before. Reputable site. The blue dress on the second row could easily work for Cinderella. Use the tabs at the top of the page to change from a dress search to either skirts or skorts. These items aren't inexpensive b/c they are designed to be worn more then just once as a costume. If I can get something that I'll actually wear again that'll be a good thing (sounds like I'm talking about bridesmaid dresses :laughing: )

the tennis dress is actually one of the best ideas i've heard for those who want to dress up...smart thinking!

just remember the weather can really be anything...when i ran it two years ago it was low 40s at the start (and we started at 6:30 not 5:45 and it was the first weekend in march not in feb)...and then last year i heard it was pretty warm. so if you are going to stay planning outfits this far in advance...make sure you can either add layers, or take away as needed. 13.1 miles is a long way to go to be uncomfortable!

Tennis dress is a stroke of genius!! :thumbsup2

And I agree with fashionista311 on the fact of the weather. It's the south and you just never know what it's going to be like. But I believe layers can be our friend. :woohoo:

Noooow to totally rethink this whole costume thing and take a different approach and spend more time researching and less time working. :rolleyes1:rotfl:
