decide to take the plunge and start training for a marathon, you will hit a point where you are running a long run every week that is at least as long as half marathon.
I definitely want to "complete" and not setting PR. Tinkerbell 1/2 will be my first 1/2 marathon. I am currently working on 5 and 10k races. But my goal ultimately is to run in the 2013 WDW marathon. :)

Since your goal is to complete the races, you should be fine doing both. Just remember that the first time you race any distance, it's automatically a PR for that distance. ;)

I am registered for the Wine and Dine 5K October 1st. Does anybody know if Princess clothing items will be available at this Expo?

thanks for the quick response Maria. Do you remember there being any discounts the week after the race? I'm pretty much guessing there wont be any for the Fri, Sat before as well as race day. thanks!

Also, anybody have experience booking with Daves Vacations for DVC rentals?

You probably shouldn't quote me on this, but I think the weekends were $110 per night and the following week it dropped to $80 -- obviously this was in a Value. I think the rate dropped for Sunday night.

I've never done a DVC rental, so can't help on that front.

Maria :upsidedow

The week after the race was definitely better than the week before for discounts, and for crowds. The week before is President's Day week and it is *very* crowded. We had trouble getting any kind of annual pass discount or otherwise for the Thurs/Fri before the race, and I even had trouble booking DVC with 2 months notice (squeaked in at OKW on a last minute cancellation).

I stayed in a DVC last year and it worked out really well. We went through DVC's because we're members and have a few host hotels back there. I'll probably be trying for a DVC again, but we'll see what happens when we decide on plans.

Has Anyone ever stayed at boardwalk villas for the race? We are considering this but don't know how we would actually get to the race. Anyone have any thoughts?

We stayed at BWV for this year's Princess. There was not supposed to be a bus. We went to CBR to get on the bus for the expo.

We found out later there was a bus because Team in Training was at BW.

If it is not a host resort you have to make arrangements for transportation. Even the morning of the race we were not expecting a bus and were planning on taking a cab. It was a pleasant surprise that a bus was available. (The night manager did not expect a bus to be there in the morning--Disney is not very good at communicating with each other sometimes.)

If we do Princess again next year, we will probably try to stay there again.:goodvibes

Thanks for the information. Do you think it'd be a pain taking a taxi when we have a one year old? How were you going to get to CBR?

We stayed there for the 2010 Princess, but we had enough cars so drove to the race.

It worked out well, but if you are flying in and don't want to rent, the best bet is a cab. If you are splitting cab fare among a few people, it won't be more than than a few dollars per person.

After the race, you can walk through Epcot right to your resort (assuming you have admission).

For sure!! And I wouldn't do it any other place but at my most favourite place:lovestruc

We walked to DHS and took a bus to CBR and then a bus to the expo. It was a pain, but we weren't in any hurry that day so we didn't mine the extra bus ride.

Hello again- Another question!

Does anyone remember being able to use a Disney Visa Rewards giftcard to pay for the discounted race tickets? I emailed Run Disney and I got this response:

Michele-

You may use your Disney Visa Rewards to register for our events.

Thanks,
Run Disney

Which is great to know but what about the park tickets??? I'm assuming yes, since they take it for registration :confused3

How is everyone's training going? After taking time off for a vacation and relatives visiting, I am back up to a 5K for my long run!

Awesome! The weather in the Northeast has finally lifted and the mornings have been beautiful! This morning I made it up to 5 miles doing my Galloway walk/run. It actually felt great (yes, tiring but great because I'm one mile closer!) I hope everyone else is getting to go outside now and enjoy this lovely spring to summer transition!

Going back to the host/nonhost hotels for the Princess, is there a list somewhere? If not, when can we expect one to be posted?

I think they post them on the day registration opens on 7/5.
We stayed at the CBR and really liked it.
I'd stay there again! :cool1:

Great job on getting up to 5 miles!!

It is blazing hot right now here in the southeast (Charlotte NC) - 91 degrees. The weather will lift tomorrow and go back to the usual temps of low 80's. I have a group run tonight, 4 miles, I hope I don't melt away out there! :scared1:

Super hot here too - we are almost neighbors!

I have been resorting to the treadmill for short runs. Just too hot out, unless you get up super early and I am not good with that.

Hope you didn't melt!
