Official 2012 Princess Half Marathon Thread!

I just registered so now I have to start training!

My mom went with me last year (2011) and was so inspired that now she is doing the 5k this year (2012). I am going to do it with her.

The problem I am encountering is that last year I had no idea what I was getting into so I was very excited every step of the way. This time I know what I will be going through ~all the highs and lows~ and I'm both dreading it and excited to see how I can improve. Last year I ran to finish - this year I want to set a time goal and accomplish it.

Anybody experiencing these same emotions?

Merci

PS. I added the necklace as well and am wondering what it looks like too.

I really want to do it faster than last year for sure...though i was running hurt, so it was great I could finish. I will wait to set a goal to see how my training goes. I think for the second time it will be like a new set of eyes as there was stuff I think I missed last year...though it will also be fun to kind of know what to expect!

I bought an Annual Pass this year so my park tickets are taken care of.

If anyone is interested in childcare for the event, I called Kids Nite Out and they said that they will be accepting reservations in December for the Half Marathon. The cost is 18 dollars an hour with a minimum charge of $82 for one child. Hopefully my husband can go so childcare isn't an issue but I wanted to know my options just in case. I am running this race no matter what!!!

Anyone know of a coupon code for the race registration yet????

wait?! They have coupon codes available for race registrations?
Also, does anyone know the cost of PH tickets without the water parks and more option?

Ticket prices per person for 2 day magic your way:
116.09
with either hoppers OR waterparks (not both):
134.19
with hoppers & waterparks:
152.30

So do you have to call to book a room or can you do it online as you sign up? This is my first year and i am a little in the dark.

Registered and ready to go, baby! :banana:Last year I chose Aurora as my princess; this year going with Tiana for a different color bib! Desperately wish I could be signing up for the Tinkerbell, too - I have serious Tinkerbell AND Coast-to-coast envy! However, unless the found money fairy makes a serious deposit, I will be exclusively Princessing! I am SO excited! Last year, Julie & I agreed to "run our own race" and we split up into our own paces. This year, I am TOTALLY sticking with her. I had a great time running solo, but running with a friend in the Happiest Place on Earth has got to be a blast! There is a Half-marathon in Atlanta in March, so, barring any unforeseen injury, I might sign up for that to see what my "real" time would be. For me, the Princess is strictly for fun. (And it's easy for me to say that now that I have one under my belt!!)

On a separate note - the Tink is already 60% full - that seems fast to me. Lots of West Coast chicks excited about a half for them! I don't blame them - they kind of seem to get the shaft on this kind of stuff!

I am new to this thread, but I am signed up for the princess half - it will be my first! Just wanted to say hi! :wave2:

Woohoo!! Registration Done! Room booked at DVC Animal Kingdom and flights booked with airmiles. Will be going with a friend of mine who will be celebrating her birthday on Feb 24:banana: Can't wait!!

I'm not ready to register yet. I need to get my 10k in Sept done first. But I am thinking I should call and see availability of DVC resorts for that weekend. Still not sure if DH or a friend is going with me yet. Congrats to those who signed up already!

I just officially signed up - Belle is my princess of choice though yellow is not my best color. :cool1: My goal is to finish stronger than last year. I am not worrying about time until I see how my training goes.

Aww TinkerAmy, now I will be crying as we cross the finish line together! I did have a blast last year and we are getting our pic with the pirates on the way back...heck maybe on the way also.

As luck would have it, I got a check today from Pinecone Research for a survery I completed to start out my Princess fund!:thumbsup2

That's the exact option my cousin and I are looking into! When did you book, just today? We debated a long time but decided to wait until today to see what the "deals" were when the host hotels listed. Once they posted, we decided to try DVC at Animal Kingdom!

We booked a 2bdrm at both BLT and then moving to AKV on rented DVC points. SO MUCH cheaper then hotel rates during that time. It is peak season and the rates are UNREAL! I was told today when I called the rundisney line that POFQ for the one night I was looking for (needed one extra night before we get to DVC)was $198 before tax.

Not quoting your message per se, but I sure do like your siggy!

Presidents day week kinds of screws things up for rates!

I booked as soon as registration went up. Last year Old Key West was the host hotel. Luckily I have some AKV DVC points to use so I didn't have to wait until 7 months before traveling which will be July 21st:thumbsup2 I am not really crazy about Saratoga Springs. Stayed at AKV before and loved it. Only wished I have more points to stay "Savanna view". What "view" did you book?

What do you all think of the Port Orleans resorts? Hubby, son, daughter-in-law, and I are planning to enter and want to stay in the same place.
