Hi everyone!
Does anyone know the course for the race? Also, does anyone know how much it cost?

Second question first... I would budget $140-160 for the race entry fee, but we will not know what the costs are until closer to entry opening time.... I would assume May or June for that.

The course map is at this link. It's labelled 2009 Disney Half, but is the same course. You can zoom in to see exactly where the course goes in the two parks

Hi all!! My 5k was this Sunday!! It was rainy and cold, but we got out there and did it! I didn't realize how many hills there were, but I still managed to keep an 11:20 pace and shave :30 sec off my previous 5k! I know I pushed it, but I felt good afterward.

Yeah! Good for you! Nice time too! My goal for my next 5k is to get to your pace! I cant seem to get out of the 12's.... Nice work and sorry that you are sick. Get better soon. Michele

I did it - C25K Graduate!!!

:cheer2:Well I did it, yesterday was Week 9, Day 3 of the C25K program - I am an official graduate :cheer2:

Today my DD and I ran a 5k run - although my time was not impressive, I completed the run with only a few short walk breaks. I am so proud of myself and to think that 9 weeks ago I couldn't run a minute.

Next step - 1/2 marathon training here I come!!!!

AWESOME!!! Congrats to you and your daughter! :thumbsup2

I wish some of my friends would have your determination and strength. I don't know you but I am proud of you. :cheer2:

It was for the heart association and my son is a survivor, so we were all very excited to be there! My son ran the kids 2k and got interviewed because he was one of the few child survivors running.

Unfortunately, I caught the stomach bug my youngest two were passing around later that evening and ended up kneeling at the porcelain temple all night, so I didn't get to celebrate much (it was my birthday too!!)

Awesome job on the 5k :thumbsup2
Sorry you felt bad and on your birthday of all times.

Also congrats to your son as well. It's so great he got to participate in such an event. I'm sure it meant a lot to you and your family.

:bday: And Happy belated Birthday!! :bday:

My daughter, sister and I just ran the Disney princess half In February. I was completely new to running and started training in October. The best advice I received was to complete a 10K ahead of time to have a decent corral location. If you are a runner, even a slow one, you can get held up by large groups of walkers. Also, it was a very hot day (reached 86 degrees) so the earlier you start the race, the cooler it will be.

I am now hooked and doing the coast to coast with my sister. She won her age group (60-64) at WDW after over 20 years away from running. It was very exciting for our group.

I will try to answer questions.....it is an amazing experience!

Congrats to you! I did a lot of the C25K program and really liked it - but a moment just came where my legs wanted to run and run and forget about any structure - so I did! When I crashed with my gallbladder pain, I'd been running for about 35 minutes straight - and just two years earlier, I'd been completely sedentary for years due to an illness! I think C25K really got me going.

I just got the go-ahead TODAY from my surgeon to walk a little more briskly if I can. No jogging, but he told me that I could try it as soon as I felt like it. So, starting some time in April, I plan on re-starting the C25K program again. I'm excited in advance!!

I am planning on running. It will be my first!

Strange question...my husband wants to run with me..is that strange?

dthogue :cheer2::cheer2: Congrats on finishing the C25K!!! I can't wait to get where you are!

A&M's Mommy- No, not weird IMO and he won't be the only one, my husband is running with me too:banana:

Mama Wolf- Thanks for the birthday wishes! My sister's birthday is next week so we decided that we'll celebrate both our birthdays when we go out! When you think about July 5th, it doesn't seem so far away! I can't wait to see how awesome we are all doing by then!

Michele- Thanks! I think the time was a product of race day adrenaline (coupled with the short distance, I couldn't have kept it up much longer), I usually get blah in training when I start pushing below 12:30.

I feel like I'm getting overwhelmed with the running apps and technology, I have Nike+GPS (got it with the shoes), C25K and Runkeeper (for custom intervals on race day). What is Dailymile? Just a website, another app for me to fuss with. (Because I'll complain about having too many and then run right out and get it to aggravate myself with)

Does anyone listen to running podcasts? I don't ask for me, but DH is kind of. . . stubborn when it comes to our training. He ran XC in high school (way more years ago than he would like to admit:rolleyes1) and seems to think he's got this all figured out and doesn't need to listen to anyone. He doesn't like to read and I feel like I'm being bossy when I say something like "Well, according to this book, or according to my friend on the internet you should be. . . ". :confused3

He is notorious for not listening to his body or taking very good care of it (he still smokes despite our running:headache:, but baby steps) and he keeps saying he wants to add on and push harder in our workouts and I am afraid he is headed down injury alley. BUT, he loves talk radio and listening to "experts", so I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations of podcasts that might help him "see the light" on his own terms so he will hopefully stick with it longer. TIA

I think my favorite costume was a jessie and woody couple! There were lots of couples running from what I saw..... not alot of men, but many seemed to be running with a female.

My DH ran the Princess last month. I got moved up one corral due to a 10K time I submitted. DH actually ran in the corral behind me because he was not moved to my corral. He tried to catch me but I never saw him until the end!

Let me know when you start, I am letting my foot heal up then will start back to running with C25k. I figure the slow approach will keep my from overdoing it. For now, its the eliptical and bike at the gym, not near as much fun!

Dailymile is just a website to log your workouts and runs. It has an app in it you can map out a run to get distance also. Its social in that you have friends to help keep up with you and encourage you and you can do that for them. If you go on it now, you can see I need to start exercising! :rotfl:

---------------------------

I can't wait to sign up again! Not only is July sign up time....I am going to WDW with my princess and cousin and her little princess! Its going to be a great month.

Mama_Dis: I wish I knew of something off hand. I'll ask my DH if no one answer question before I get back. My DH is a total nerd about Podcasts maybe he's heard of one. Also I ran CC a bazillion years ago (more like 15 but who's counting) and I couldn't even pretend to know what's still right and wrong. People's opinions change so much. :confused3 I wish you the best of luck and we'll check around for you on the Podcasts. And hopefully someone else will be more help than me. :rotfl:

I'm still in! Just been too busy to check in lately. I've been doing really well at doing intervals 4/2 so far. I do this 3 days a week right now. Then I also try to do at least one day of something else. I'm thinking about upping to 4 days per week, but haven't found that extra motivation yet.

Only issues I have so far (thankfully) are shins and now calf pain. I did get shoes, but maybe need to go to a better store? I dont think my shoes are bad they are ascis and i seem to like them. I tried the compression sleeve on my shins and man, i think i ran funny when wearing them because tahts when i ended up with calf pain!

Suggestions?

Congratulations!! :thumbsup2 Sorry to hear that your celebration revolved around a toilet, though. :(

@qualtrgrl2: thanks for the advice re the10K. I'll definitely look in to it.

@mama dis: most of the podcasts I've found so far are more musings and reflections rather than informational. One that I love is jogtunes. It is 30-45 minutes of indie music arranged by beats per minute. As a musician I find my pace differs dramatically based on the tempo of the music I'm listening to since I default to running in time. I'm in the process now of adding bPm info to my iTunes library so I can generate my own bpm based playlists.

I just joined Daily Mile...Taryn S. from PA. I have no idea what to do though! I'll have to play around with it.

I started C25K yesterday again. Felt really good after.

There are actually 4 of you!! I am Kathryn J with city/state same as in my DIS profile. Friend me if you want! :)

I volunteered for a local marathon last weekend, at a water stop. Wow, it really gives you a different perspective on races!
