Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Have you seen the jacket yet? If so where? I am coveting a jacket and hope I can still get one on Saturday.

I'm in my easy runs, 3 miles, felt great! Although it has been between 30 - 45 here in MN. Trying to decide between the capri tights or the bike shorts under my Team Sparkle Minnie skirt! I hate to be hot! I also hae a throw-away shirt and gloves to donate. I know I will want them while I wait!

Safe travels to all!:flower3:

I saw the white jacket on the run disney facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=386792554680046&set=pu.139057592786878&type=1&theater

Thanks for sharing! I love it! I'm so excited it will be hard to focus on work this week!princess:

It is so cute. I may have to get it if it is still there on Saturday. But I'm not holding my breath for lots of variety. Which may be a good thing for my wallet.

I can't concentrate at work either. I keep refreshing this board for new insights.

I was doing so well on my training until we left for our cruise last Saturday :( I ended up with a terrible cold and only ran the Castaway Cay 5K and that was IT. Now I'm so nervous about this, being my first half and I am way under trained. I would rather be sick for Christmas than the last week of training for my first Disney half. I guess I should go through with it but I'm not excited anymore, just scared.

You will be fine!! The last 2 weeks before a race are "taper" period, so you really shouldn't be doing much other than a few nice and easy runs, which it sounds like you got in some.

All of your training was already done 2 weeks before. Distance races are not something you can "cram" for - if you weren't ready, the last 2 weeks are NOT going to help at all.

Concentrate on resting and getting over the cold. :goodvibes

I am also debating capris or biker shorts under my sparkle skirt. My capris are more comfortable so they may win out even if it means I'll be a bit hotter.

That's what I'm thinking. My legs are prone to chafe over that long a distance, and capris will keep that from happening.

For those who have run before: how quickly does the temp rise during the race? I think the high for Sunday is around 75 depending on which site you check. I'm used to running in 40-60 degree weather. Im trying to figure out if i should wear the long sleeve shirt that looks better with my costume or the short sleeve shirt with a throwaway sweatshirt over it for the morning. Any advice would be great. This is my first half and first pre-dawn start.

Last year I walked to the corral in my tank, sparkle skirt and running capris and I was just fine. It was pretty warm before the end and I am from Houston so we have our fair share of warm winter weather.

Just finished packing! Bummed I missed the Disneyland 1/2 registration though. Thought for sure I would have a couple more days to register and get the c2c. Oh well, maybe tink and wine and dine next year?

I am getting my C2C with the princess this year, but my sister isn't going and wants to get hers next year and that is the combo we are talking about doing.

I getting so nervous . Every time I think about this race I feel like I'm going to poop my pants. I hope this feeling doesn't stick come Sunday morning.

Make sure you make plenty of porta potty stops before you get to the corral. ;)

You so have to check out this youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsMw10KVVCk&sns=fb

When I read what you wrote I thought of that clip and started to giggle, its a good one!!

"Don't pants your poop, don't pants your poop!!" :lmao:

That was so funny I was crying and then forwarded it to my mom and sister. :thumbsup2

Great blog post Heather! Your discussion of medal wearing has prompted yet another question for me: Do people normally wear their medals only on the day of the race? Or does it go on for a few days? I leave Monday so it's not like I'll be wearing it all week. Or maybe I will at home. ;-)

I just wore mine Sunday. I left on Tuesday and I saw one lady at the airport wearing her medal and she said her mom was too.

I am having the same great debate. Although mine is capri or Bermuda since I don't buy anything shorter then that.

That's what I'm thinking. My legs are prone to chafe over that long a distance, and capris will keep that from happening.

I have the same issue but I am leaning toward my Bermuda length running shorts. The best of both worlds; not as long as the capris but long enough that my thighs don't chafe.

I love that video! Someone needs to do one for a 1/2 marathon. We still think the same things!!!

I wore my medal (and princess ears) on Sunday (at the parks) and Monday to the parks and all the way home - 2 flights & 18 hours later!

I recommend the shorter, the better. It probably will get hot!

I recommend using Glide to help with chafing. It works wonders!:rotfl:

Question: based on plans we have on Friday, we're planning on going to the Expo on Saturday. Will there still be good stuff left? I'm concerned that we will get there and all the awesome merchandise will be sold out. Then again, that might make DH happy! :rotfl:

I really like the jacket too. I'm gonna have a hard time keeping money in my wallet at the expo! Does anyone know if you can use Disney gift cards at the runDisney booth or the Visa rewards card?

You can use them at the Disney booth only. of course you can use your charge card elsewhere too.

It just depends on what is popular, and what you are wanting. Some things may sellout in popular sizes the first day. I'm sure disney keeps track of merchandise sales and when items have sold out in the past so they can have more during future races. Hopefully they'll have enough to go around, but it's hard to tell.

I shared this a couple months ago, but with the big event next week I thought it might be helpful again. Here's my "spectator guide" of sorts from last year's race. If anyone has family or friends coming to cheer them on, it might prove helpful...

Looking forward to cheering all of you on next week!

I just printed this out for my daughter - thank you so much!

Love the pic of you by Club 33!

I feel that I have DISer guilt:( Been on here since 07, met so many wonderful people and have made awesome friendships, and with the race I am on FB instead of here!!!!

Totally got caught up in that group:) Hope everyone here is ready...healthy....and prepared mentally, cause that is most of it for me!

Anyone here get selected for the Jeff Galloway and other meet Fri morning? Somehow I did..:) Excited...esp since I never thought I could even cross that finish line for W & D in 2010! lol Now Princess is my 6th half and I am trying to beat my 2:33 time from 2011 WDW Half....not sure....my training stunk this week...Just want to have a fun weekend!!!

Safe travels everyone!

I was chosen as well - I'll see you Friday!

So, all shirts are here and ready to go!! We go a little nuts on the custom team shirt idea. Thanks to customink, they weren't that expensive either.

If you see a wild group of girls wearing these shirts, please stop and say hi! I am tall (5'8), on the heavy side, and have shoulder length light reddish brown hair. I'll be wearing a black visor and the wish princess bondi for the race, along the the Team Goddess blue tech tee and black zensah sleeves.

We all met here on the WISH boards back in 2007, and have picked up a few recruits along the way. I keep in touch with all of them on a daily basis, and could seriously not wish for better friends. This will be our 3rd Princess together!

Here's the race t-shirt (same as last year):

so much cuter than last years!

I like it, I just wish it wasn't white. No matter what I try my whites always get all dingy.

ITA. I have always heard the "I Did It" shirts sell out really quick after the race but at Tink this year they had some in the World of Disney store in DTD on Monday. Not a whole bunch, but they were there.

I have also noticed that many of the non-Disney vendors sell out quicker too. I know the running Princess visor sold out in under 2 hours last year.

Kat thanks for sharing your shirts!

I have been trying to upload my photo to Shutterfly to no avail....here is a pic of my outfit on Facebook in an open group if you can access. I still need to work on my hat to secure the chopsticks! I will be in Corral C, so if you see Mulan or heck pass her......say Hi!

Very cute!! I'll be in C too! I'll keep an eye out for you. I have a light green (Tiana-ish) petti-skirt with a white ss tech shirt with Princess in rhinestones on the front. :thumbsup2
