Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Hey....POFQ peeps...is there a group walking to the start...with an experienced person. If so I think Amy and I are in.......but like Joan said, would feel better if someone has done this before. I never check anything....so worth trying.

We are staying at the All Star Sports. I'm thinking the resort will be packed. What time should we be at the bus stop? I don't want to be late but I don't want to be too early. We stayed off property last year and got to the Wonder Lot at 3:00. I was going out of my mind just sitting there for hours.

Stayed at the All Stars for the second and third Princess and the buses are busy with line going through the lobby and out to the pool. If I remember the Sports is the first one...buses (resort and race) always stop there first and fill up. We have gone to the bus stop around 3:30-3:45 to see/get into these lines, so other will have a different experience. I think for the second Princess we we at the movie resort and they called more buses because they would fill before getting to the last stop.

Because of the wait, I take by "breakfast" with me in the morning. I like to eat 30-45 min before race so that gives me something to do while I wait.

All this talk of buses and walking and all the beautiful inventive costumes makes me think it is really real. I can't believe it - after training and reading and posting for almost a year we are so close. I'll be taking a early bus from POR - I need to get to the front of my corral to give me all the cushion I can get. I'm planning on being in line for the bus at 3:15 - hope to meet up with anyone. Good luck to everyone on these last 10 days.

I was at sports last year. Went out to get in line around 3:15 and there were about 10 people standing in line. Ran back to room to get something we forgot, and back outside by 3:30--- line out to the pool! I kid you not!

But the good news- it moved fast. We stood in line for maybe 10-15 min. They just kept sending busses our way. And the busses for the race filled up and went straight to epcot. I assumed they were sending singular busses to the other allstars for pick up there as we did not make any other stops (not point, bus was full!)

Dropping off after the race, Allstars were all together like they are at the normal bus routes. And Sports got dropped off first.

Hey Say Say,

I plan to have hubby drop me off at 3:30am at
POFQ. I'm a newbie but would like to walk with you.

Ok having my freak out moment right now.... would love a voice of reasoning!

19 days ago I did 11.1 in a 13:30 pace (I took it easier then I normally would, I'm about a 12:30 for longer distances) and since then I have only done a couple 4milers and about 5 5k's. I'm going back out today, Friday and Sunday for 5k's as well. Am I doing this right? I'm SOOO freaked out that I'm going to get hurt (I dont have the best knees in the world) by adding some longer runs.

I guess what I'm asking is with only doing 11.1, 29 days before the 1/2 will I finish ok!!!

Sorry. Freaking. Out.
Michele

I'm in a similar boat. I ran my longest run of 12 miles on Jan. 1. I have hit two other 10 miles in the last month though, but my last 10 miler will be 22 days before the actual race. I figure Galloway's plan has you doing the last long run 14 days before so I'm hoping it won't be too bad. It just worked better in my schedule this way. I did want to do a 12 miler instead of a 10, but I just didn't have time for it. Hope it's enough.

Happy Valentine's Day to all you awesome princess runners!

I have done three 1/2's The ONLY time I have ever gone more than 10 miles is on race day. You will be fine!

It will definitely be enough... Trust me. I have freaked out before each of my 1/2's and have managed to finish each one :)

I had my first Princess half dream a few nights ago. I had a lot more last year so I must be more confident this time...although I don't feel like it.

I've been on Weight Watchers for about 3 weeks and have lost 10 lbs. I dreamed that I got to the half and Jeff Galloway was there to be my personal coach. :thumbsup2 So I started running and finished the half in 8 minutes and 29 seconds. :lmao: In my dream I thought "losing weight really does make you faster!"

I woke up laughing. :rotfl2:

This made me smile. I had a dream that I got to my corral in slippers and forgot my sneakers so I sent DH back for them but he started the race without me and I couldn't run because I didn't have sneakers:headache:.

Only my fellow princesses will appreciate this as much as I did- hubby made me a valentine card with Belle and Beast- ( my favorite Disney fairytale) and we now have a standing joke that he calls me the beast when I go out running- long story shortened- the card read "to my Belle" inside said I'll never finish loving you":lovestruc:love: - he has been really supportive especially since hurting the foot 3 weeks before the race- the foot is healing and I have been doing 5min alternating ice/ hot water soaks for 30 minevery night per my son's running coach which seems to have helped a lot- Haven't run since the injury which has me worried but I had run 15miles the week before my injury so I'm hoping i'll be ok.

Happy Valentine's Day PRincesses!princess:

Same boat here, too. I did my 11 mile run on Dec. 28 and then my knee acted up. I've done 6.2, 7.7, and 9.2 long runs since then. And my last long run tomorrow. I'm not sure what I'm going to run tomorrow yet. But I don't want to blow my knee this close to the race, either. I'm a little anxious, but I will crawl across the finish if I have to.

I'm staying at Windsor Hills with my family. Anybody else staying there? I am trying to catch a ride with someone or at least share a cab with someone who is going to the race. If so, PM me. Thanks!!!
:)

What time are the "non Disney resort" people leaving their hotels? This is my first race and I'm staying off property and have no clue what time I should leave the hotel. Thanks!

I have another question... forgive me, I'm new to Disney races. everyone is saying to bring money to have my medal engraved with my time. Where do we find out our exact official finishing time?

That's such a sweet card! Have a great valentine's day

Start out much more slowly than you would normally run to save your strength for the end. Walk early and often, then you can run it in to the finish!

You'll do great!

Thanks for the advice. I think that's what I'll have to do. The end is the scariest for me so I definitely need to take it slow in the beginning and try to fight my adrenaline.

You will be fine! I have not been very consistent with my running either, much to my disspointment in myself. I have never ran more than 10 miles in preparation for any of the three 1/2's I have done and I have always made it. :)
I'm glad to hear someone else has done it successfully without running the 14 miles at the end that Galloway has on the plan.

How far along are you? I have seen you mentioning being pg but I must have missed when you announced it.

I am sure you will be just fine. A lot of training programs only do 10 miles before the race.

I have not been training as much as I wish I was either. I did 13 miles twice before the Tinker Bell and had planne don doing 10 on Sat but I came down with a cold and skipped it. I am just hoping doing 13 miles 3 times in a month and half will carry me through.

I'm 9 weeks now so I'll be about 11 weeks for race day. I'm just having trouble not being too tired to get off my butt and run. I just want to sleep all the time!

Hope your knew is better for the race. Maybe Amy and I will see you there. :goodvibes

For those staying at BLT/Contemporary, it does not look that shuttle buses will be provided or that the monorail is going to be working that early in the morning. Am I wrong and have to provide my own transporation, which won't be a problem because I have a car. I just don't wan to mess with traffic that morning. Does anyone have any information?
