Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Rain in Orlando is typically hit and miss. You get 15 min of downpour, then nothing for hours. It's usually fast and furious, and also... 5 min away... may stay dry all day. Very weird. Maybe it won't rain on MK or Epcot, but just over AK and HS. ;) Just hoping for no lightening to postpone or cancel the event. that would suck!

Doesn't the rain usually come in the afternoons, too? :crosses fingers:

To the Princess staying at POP and telling her BF to leave at 8:15 -8:30. I would have him leave earlier. Last year DH and fellow runner's DH left OKW on bus at 8:00 and took him over an hour to get there and they missed us at the finish. The bus took them I think to MK and then he had to take monorail to TTC and then to EPCOT.

Haven't posted but have enjoyed all of the stories and words of encouragement! Good luck to everyone. I think I will be in corral C and I will be alone. I am strangely looking forward to enjoying the scenery and not having to worry about staying with my running partners as I have in past 2 years. princess:

YIKEs! Next week this time will be somewhere down in the area! :cool1:

My illness is gone thank goodness, man I was WIPED OUT. Went to my PT yesterday and the foot is def getting better. She had me "jump" on the bench press - the kind where you are laying on your back, and it did not hurt my foot at all. YIPPEE! So the good news is things are healing and it appears preliminary that I can run again, though this type of injury typically takes 4 months to recover from and yeah, i am going for it with the Princess...so could end up back at square one. Hopefully not.

I did 30 minutes on the eliptical today and felt GREAT. I was up to 10 miles when I hurt myself, so hoping that is enough so I can finish. I am seeing myself at the finish line these days!

Oh and whoever posted their trip report from last year, thanks for the tip to stay to the RIGHT on the mile 11 overpass hill.

Way to go Princess Runners and Walkers! We are all going to do great, rain or shine. Rain in florida comes and goes so quickly, I wouldn't even worry about it!

Yep! It is usually afternoon showers- which will be good for post race napping. :thumbsup2

(yes, I know, after walking around for a couple hrs to keep from getting stiff. I can nap after all that, right?!)

I hope the rain keeps away until Monday/Tuesday. I want all Princesses and their families to have a great great time !

Ok, so I'm packing the waterproof makeup, the poncho and an umbrella now...check! It's only a 30% chance, 10 days from now, so I'd try not to worry. FL can be very fickle! ;)

Since a few of you mentioned where your partners are waiting for you, do you think it's unreasonable to have my sister head to the 1/2 way point at MK at the castle (I think that's the 1/2 way and where the Cheersquad folks go, right?) and then boogie on over to the end at Epcot? I'm waaaay back in the 10,000's so I will have some time after the other runners. (we're staying at the shades of green and she's just going to monorail it from the Poly). What do you think?

During this time of the year, it will rain at anytime. Though it is still 10 days out, there have been many instances where they predict rain, up to 80% 10 days out and it changes the next day to 10%, I still feel it will be nice weather for us to run. If it still says rain 5 days out, then I will believe it more. Also when I checked this morning, it said 0% and 10% on Saturday, and in the afternoon it changed dramatically.

Also, my knee is getting much better, still won't be running on it, I can walk and have walked around Universal with little pain, been doing exercises to loosen it up and rid of the pain. Much better than the previous day, it is making me feel much better and less worried I will be ready for the race, still have 9 days of rest and this 3 day weekend should help recovery. :goodvibes

Lastly, even if it rains, we will be all sweaty, just may put on more weight, especially to us wearing costumes, but I'm sure all of us princesses (I am a male princess for one day princess:) will have a great time running it, no matter the weather.

That should work out! Main Street is open early. I think my DD got there around 6am last year. I was coming through around 7 and she got to the finish via monorail in plenty of time.

My partner is going to head to Main Street to see me there, then head back to EPCOT to see me finish, there will be plenty of time, since you enter MK at mile 5, and you have another 8 to get back to the finish, so time-wise for her, she should be fine.

Y'all please tell me that you or someone you know has started in the last corral and still finished! I don't know why I'm so worried about it, but ever since I found out that I'm in the last corral, I am worried sick that I'll get swept!:sad2::sad1:
I almost always start in the last corral and for 14 races (out of 14) have finished, and in time.

OOPS she did....looks like a longer route but easier on the joints. SO sorry princesses! :yay:

I read that same advice from another blog from last year. Guy has run 5 or 6 1/2s at Disney and for the first time went up to the left side the last run. He said it wasn't as steep and he was actually passing people who went low on the right. So glad to see another advocate for that advice- I was planning on crawling across the over pass if need be. :rotfl: Hoping this keeps me on my feet!

Thank you. I guess we all just need a little reassurance from time to time, especially me! It's so easy to doubt myself, even when I know I can do it!

You can find me in the very last corral, first timer/no proof of time, and we can reassure each other all the way to the finish!!! :cheer2:

This is directed to everyone who has said they're shy and a bit concerned about chatting with strangers in the corrals.

Fake it till ya make it, baby.

Except for the elite runners, I suspect everyone is there to have fun and will be approachable. I can't imagine a "cool costume!" would be rebuffed by anyone. We are in the happiest place on earth, right? So just smile and most folks will respond.

I don't mean to sound preach-y, just reassuring. I don't want anyone to stress about feeling "alone" in the corral; I really think we'll all be chattering away happily.

I know I keep an eye peeled for anyone who looks "disconnected" and give them at least a smile. You guys are all warm-hearted so I knwo you'll do the same. So I think we're covered.

Hugs to all y'all, as we "Suthners" say!

From another suthner... "Bless your little ole heart!"

From another suthner... "Bless your little ole heart!"

(You know we only use that phrase when we're talkin' badly about someone. You know...'He sure is the ugliest person I've ever seen -Bless his heart!' :lmao: )

I know that doesn't apply here, but I wanted to warn those non-suthners...

Nah that's when we are talking ABOUT people. When we say it to your face we mean it!:rotfl:

Hello Princesses, sorry I have not posted in a while, but I am still going to the princess, I am injured and still slow. I am happy to hear that there are many of other princesses like me, (not the injured part)
How did you find out what corral you are in? I have my bib number but I don't know what corral that is.

Now it is saying no rain!!! :cool1:
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
