Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Run my long run of the week today....10 miles. All was good until 5.5 miles, then I realized I forgot to put my knee brace on (knee has been bugging me for a bit) so I had to get off the treadmill and put it on. When I got back on the next 4.5 miles were hard, I won't lie. I hate that but I finished the 10 miles.

I posted a picture of my 5K outfit that I am running with my daughter on my blog, take a look and let me know how we look ;)

How are you feeling today? Sounds like maybe congestion was affecting your inner ear...? Wishing you well.:wizard:

Thanks for asking! I felt a little better today. Not dizzy, but still not 100%. Poor dh was up all night in the bathroom with a yucky stomach bug. I'll take being dizzy over that any time! Back to the gym tomorrow, as long as they don't close due to MORE SNOW.
No GU or gatorade, I had left them accidentally in the car. I needed them right around 9.5 miles (that is when my pace started taking a nose dive- although the icy street corners didn't help that either)..
Wow, lady! You really impress me! Way to go!!! :cheer2:
Thanks but don't be too impressed. By the look on my husband's face when I walked back in the door- I really did need that GU or gatorade or something during my run. I downed it lickety split as soon as I got back in my car.

Let me clarify that the week before I had done a 10-miler. So, it was supposed to be a cut-back (recovery) week with only a 6 mile route. But with an impending winter storm bringing 20+ inches of snow this week, I didn't foresee any kind of running weather for my 11-mile LR. So I just flip-flopped my weeks. I did have the added benefit of running with my usual group and a couple of them were doing 8.5 miles that day, so I tagged along with them as far as I could.

The run went well! I managed 13!! I am so glad. I have proven to myself that I can finish this--barring a lightning strike or other twist strange twist!

I was running 4:1 intervals as planned and managed to stay near training pace the majority of the run. Did push pace sometimes but Hubby would remind me and I'd rein myself in again.

Hubby was running with me but had to call it quits at 10 -- his running mojo was off that day. We had planned to run 1 out and back for a final leg to get to 12, but when he bailed on me, I thought "why not try 1.5 out and back? If I have to, I'll walk the whole way back."

!

Good for you! Woo-hoo! That's great that you and your husband can do this together - it's always nice to have a pacing partner! Great positive thinking!

hi everyone! i'm back from our WDW vacation! we stayed at the treehouse villas and it was FABULOUS!!! only problem? i ate and drank like a piggy all week and never went running. it was hard to get out with all of our early reservations and well, i was just lazy and sleep deprived.

i got out yesterday for a 4 miler that went pretty well. my longest run has only been 10 miles and that was 3 weeks ago. i'm hoping to do a 7 mile run this weekend, a 9 the next and then 11 the week before the race. i hope that that's enough before the race!

i found someone to watch my little guy on friday feb 25th! my flight is super early and i'm planning on taking a cab to the airport. my husband is going to drop my son off at my friend's before he goes to work. my friend's kids are off from school that week so they will all have a blast playing together. i'm glad that detail is worked out! now i just have to get down there and run 13.1 miles:scared1:

anyone else going to have a hard time like me not eating everything in sight before the race?? i just have to tell myself to hold off until sunday afternoon. then i have until my flight leaves that evening to devour all the fiesta margaritas i can!

I know men are allowed to run the Disney princess but do they have to register or can they just "jump in"?

Thanks for this. I am pretty conservative and will also sit out a few days rather than risk injury. I use the word "run," but really I'm doing run/walk intervals, 4-to-1. That's the way I've trained and that's the way I'll approach the race day. "Ain't broke" and all that.

Taking one run off and stretching seems to have helped. I had some aches during Saturday's long run, but was able to complete 13. Had been aiming at 12, but felt good enough to go on. So that's one physical challenege met and one mental hurdle leapt! Huzzah!

Yep! I do 4:1 run:walk as well. Hoping to increase it to maybe 5:1 for DL, but we'll see how it goes.

Glad you're feeling good! :D

I love your outfits! You are both so beautiful!!! How fun that you can run with your daughter.

I'm hoping to get my girls running when they are a little older. Any thoughts on what is a good age to get started?

Thanks you :)

You don't even imagine how excited I am to actually run a 5K with her! I think I will be teary the whole 5K!

I only started running a year ago and I signed her up for the kid races whenever there was one for the race I was running, so she was 7 years old and she loves the races. The kids ones are usually 1 K or 1 mile, very quick. And my DD is fast, she did awesome at our last race, you can read about it here:

What is a good age, I don't know. If they are interested in it start them asap. You can always run teh race with them. They feel such a huge sense of accomplishment, its great!

Here is a fun race she ran:

mermaid and cinderella...I LOVE your outfits! VERY cute. Also enjoyed your blog and the Canada Day race pics. So cool you share this with DD. My 4yo princess has been begging me to do a race, and am looking for a fun one for her and me.

I also wanted to salute you ladies doing treadmill training and indoor track running. This winter is crazy and I think the training you are doing is incredible.

I am so impressed with everyone who does their training on a treadmill! I had to do 3 last night on the dreadmill and it was awful!!! I cant imagine doing anymore than that! We have a ton of snow right now and I am supposed to do 10 this weekend. Worried about how I am going to get it in!

Good job everyone! Keep it up! Were almost there!! :yay:

I did 10 on the treadmill. It wasn't fun, but I survived. I was so happy to get outside this past weekend. I decided to make it my last long run, and ended up doing 13.5. Now I'm planning to taper and run 6-8 miles each weekend until the race. We're drowning in snow here, and I doubt I'll see the the running trails again before the race:headache: Florida weather is looking so nice right about now. Even if it is cold (although I was hot running in 40 degree weather this weekend) there shouldn't be any snow!

I had a Princess Panic attack this morning and decided to go ahead and order a back-up skirt for race day :scared1: I just have a nagging feeling that even after I try to "de-fluff" my tutu by taking out some of the layers, that I'm just not going to be happy with it...and it will be too late to get something else by the time I take the tutu on it's planned trial run. So, I ordered a Team Sparkle skirt today as a back up...and I feel so much better! If anything, I can always save it for another run where tutu's wouldn't be commonplace  Is it strange that I'm having panic attacks about the OUTFIT and not the RACE? :lmao:

Pray for no snow this weekend, fellow princesses! We need to get those long runs in outside...I fear the dread mill!

I think I've officially given up on the running outside. I've now done two 11+ runs on the TM and expect the same for Friday's 12.5. This feels a bit insane!! Thankfully, I signed up for a 10K in Boston for Sunday...just hoping they'll get the roads clear of ice, snow & traffic for us. That may be my last time outside on the roads before we leave for Disney---3 weeks from tomorrow  !!! YAY!! The 10-day forecast for Orlando is well in the 70's...hallelujah!

I do hope everyone can get their runs in, one way or another.

I am loving the outfit pictures...keep em coming ;)

Be well & just keep running, princesses :cheer2:

Being snowed in and bored today had be thinking a lot of being in Florida and this race at the end of the month!

For those of you that aren't staying at a host resort and taking disney transportation, what time are you leaving your hotel to get to the start? I don't think we're going to end up renting a car, so what time should we get a taxi to the start? I will probably request a time with bell services the night before to make sure we have a taxi so early in the morning. I have a feeling they might be harder to come by... We're staying at the boardwalk, so at least we're not too far from the start.
