Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

We are bib buddies! I'm 3703! How cool is that??

Ran my VERY hilly 11.2 miles today, finished in 2:32, so I'm thinking my pipe dream of a 2:45 half time is just that, a pipe dream. Which is totally fine with me because this time last year I had no idea I would be able to run 13.1 miles period, so now I'm just going to focus on finishing and having fun (and getting some great pictures :rotfl2:).

You know, you might just do better than you think. If you ran that on a very hilly course, you may do WAY better in flat Florida! Plus, you will have people in front of you as pacers AND the extra umph from the event itself! So you may knock it out in your "dream time"!

The snow is melting here!! I'm so happy :) (sorry to all of you who still have it) I finally got in a short run on Thursday, and will get out again tomorrow.

I looked up my bib number, it's in the 4,000's. I can't remember the exact number and I'm too lazy to look it up agian... I used my finish time from last year, but I'll be bringing my 10k time from January so maybe they can bump me up? Of course last year my number was in the 7,000's, so I guess I should just be happy!

Hi Everyone!!!!

The excitement has finally set in as I found out my bib is 5123 :goodvibes:goodvibes Last year my bib was in the 5's too!

I am dealing with the recovery of a shin stress fracture that they say is healed yet it seems to scream everytime I run.

My longest run to date has only been 6, so my nervous are starting to get the best of me. I am hoping to run 8ish tomorrow BUT I also need to listen to the body too.

I am going to hope and pray my shin holds up, I dont think I am going to taper until the week of the race as I need to get up to 10 atleast once.

I need advice. I was all set to do this alone. Then about 2 weeks ago, my friend said she wanted to do the race with me. So she signed up, we contacted TNT and got her registered as a guest in my room, etc. She hasn't been training. I've been busting my butt just to get to an average of a 15 minute mile. So I've been very worried about being swept. I just looked up our bib numbers. I am 7462 and she is 13800.

So the good friend in me says that I need to drop back to her corral. The petty person in me is kind of upset that she invited herself to my big weekend, upset that I didn't stick up for myself, and very worried about running a race with someone who hasn't trained like me.

Am I a bad person? What should I do?

You aren't a bad person. Does she know that it's possible to drop back corrals? If not, the easy way out is to say that you are going to your assigned corral and wow you are really sorry that the two of you weren't assigned to the same one, arrange a meeting place at the end, and that is that.

No I don't think she knows. And I don't think she knows the bib numbers are assigned yet or anything. I can just play dumb for a while longer until I figure out what to do. Good suggestion. I may just do that!

Gah! I've been away from this board wallowing in a little self pity because of the horrible weather keeping me from getting out, and also having some sadness because one of my best girlfriends/one of my running buds fell on ice and shattered her elbow (surgery with plates and screws...the whole 9 yards) and obviously she won't be back running for a while. :sad2:

Anyway, I hop on to share a "wahoo" that I got outside for 10.5 yesterday and here you all have bib numbers!!! Cool!!! I'm 2821, anyone else near me?

I can't wait, it is getting close! I definitely can't wait to be running in shorts and short sleeves/sleeveless shirts rather than 3 layers...all of us northern girls will feel so free! Even some of you southern states have had it bad this winter. FL temps have been looking quite nice lately!

I agree 100% with HockeyKat. Just stick with you assigned corrals and have a great race! Besides, not switching corrals does keep crowd control in place, since they do carefully assign corrals for crowd control and race flow...it would be a mess if lots and lots of people dropped back to different corrals and you are just doing your part to maintain the crowd levels. :rolleyes1 (Just in case you needed more justification for sticking with your assigned corral!)

Totally agree! Just run your own race, and don't worry about her. It will be less stress if you just do your own thing. :) My little sister is bib number 11000-something. I am 4200-something. I *need* to start earlier for my own mental peace of mind, so sorry, sis, but I ain't going to the back with you! ;) (she'll probably pass me anyway! lol!) Just meet up at the end and be happy you did your own thing. I think it's perfectly ok.

I just woke up with a really bad cough. I feel mostly fine so far I just can't breath without coughing!!! It's kinda like one of those coughs I have gotten after a long-ish run in the cold weather. I've done all my running on a treadmill inside cause of all of the snow, so I know that's not it.
Grr.... Hope this goes away soon!

You can move back a corral or more to be together. You just can't move up

You might be. But they can start back in your corral with you- you just can't move up to their corral. So it could still be done together!

I would think if there are 14000 bibs out there, then someone with an 8000 number is probably still going to be in D or E corral, not F. That's a total guess though!

!

Thank you! :)That eases my mind some. I am sure they will move back so that we can be together. I gess I made a HUGE mistake when I put in my ecpected finish time when I registered. At the time, I had never run and hadn't started training. I am definitelymad that i didnt give myself enough credit to finish sooner.Oh well, you live and learn. At least, I will know for next year! Gonna head out and do 6 miles today in this 75 degree weather. It's supposedto hit 80 so i better get moving! Gonna be a HOT day! Havea great day ladies!!

I'm in the same boat as you for Goofy next year. I've been training for marathon weekend 2012 for a year now, and no one else in my family who says they are running has really started even training at all. I'd love to run together, but after all my training I don't want to be held back too much. You're definitely not a bad friend for wanting to do your best!
I think you've got some great advice already. I definitely wouldn't let her know that you could drop back corals, you deserve to do your best after all this training! You could also figure out whose bib numbers are around you and plan a little meet up, so If she finds out about dropping back you could tell her you have some friends you are meeting up with in your coral before the race. If all else fails tell her you are going to the potty and then get lost in the crowd:rolleyes1

So sorry you are dealing with this pain. Have a good run princess!

Nothing to add... Just a big WOO HOO I am sooo excited for this!

So much snow and ice by me i am so paranoid about a slip and fall, i use a ski pole to walk to my car. Ironically the roads are clear so i don't have to run on treadmill.

Have you seen those Yaktrax on Amazon.com ??? A friend of mine runs marathons and she likes hers. She buys the velcro kind, so it's easier to fit every shoe.

Sorry if this has been covered does bib number correspond to corral placement because mine was in the 900's I submitted a time for a 10 miler that I finished with an average pace on 9:35 per mile.

I am kind of near you - my number is 2233! I also can't wait to run outside in (hopefully) warmer weather! I feel like I haven't run outside in a month. I even did my 12.5 on the treadmill yesterday - ugh.

3 weeks from now we'll be running!:yay::woohoo::cool1:

So exciting!:thumbsup2

We are all just speculating that the lower the bib number the ealier the corral, but nothing official has stated that!

3 weeks now we will have finished....woohoo:cool1::cool1: and we will be wearing our medals....woohoo :cool1::cool1:

It would seem that the people with the lower bib numbers have faster pace times from submitted races.... so we are assuming. I submitted a 10k with 1:12 time, avg pace 11:37mm and I am bib # 3767.

I am just hoping to finish this race. won't be near as fast since my foot. I need to put a sign on my back so you guys can say Hi when passing me. :)

This morning I did my longest run yet. 10 miles!! Until now the longest I went was 6 miles. It was tough because of some foot pain, and I didn't follow my intervals. But I did it. Still averaging a 15 minute mile. I definitely needed this run for peace of mind. I just kept smiling and thinking that soon I'd be looking at the castle as I'm running!!
