Thanks poppinspal, I really should get a road ID.

Back from my 5K. I haven't done an official race since 2008. As my HM approaches, I am getting nervous, and I thought I should get a race under my belt.

I was happy with my time, 30:13. Not bad for an old lady.:)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You and I have about the same pacing I think. Running races a time or two within HM training really gives you a great idea of how you are progressing. YOU RAWK!

Thanks Laurie! It was fun, and I am so glad I ran this. Mentally, I needed it. The only thing I would have done differnently was bring mittens. It was in the low 40's and my hands were cold the entire time.
So what's your training plan for the weekend? Just 8 more days, that's exciting!

I ran my final long run this morning (8 miles) and this week will be short easy runs just to keep limber but yet not eat into my glycogen stores. I am ready and I am getting excited!!

Next Sunday at 7:30 am central time...showtime!

Hi All,
Training going well -- I did 7 miles this morning, which is 1 more than I planned to be in September. My pace is a little slower than I'd like, but I'm committed to having fun at the race and taking advantage of all the characters, so timing isn't going to factor in anyway.

So....The historical weather trends say lows in the high 50's and highs in the mid 70's. My last (and only) experience running at WDW in winter was the 2010 HM - 28-degrees. I doubt that's going to happen again (hope springs eternal!), and I"m wondering what past runners have experienced? The videos make it appear that the weather is pretty warm (mostly shorts). Is that accurate?

Keep rocking, everyone!

Thanks!
Karen

Great Job that is a great time.

I did 6 miles this morning in 1 hour 27. Slow I know, but that is a good time for me, and I did not feel spent when I was done.
So I am happy

For anyone who is interested, RoadID sponsored the 5K I did last week. They gave out a $2 off code: ARR5783

I love mine and I'm seriously considering getting a second one!

Did my first 10 miles this morning! Finished in 2.5 hrs. Was hoping to be a little faster but wasn't feeling too hot towards the end.I think The GU Chomps upset my stomach. But just the fact that I did it is good enough for me!! Woo hoo!!! :woohoo:

Congrats to everyone who got their butts out of bed this morning and ran!!!

Ran 4 miles today with dh. The first 2 miles or so were uphill so my time was slower on the front end than on the back end. As much as I really dislike the hills, I am getting better at them....think no walking. The plan for tomorrow is a long run of 10 miles , mostly flat on a gravel trail. We will most likely do a run/walk after the first 4 or 5 miles. A lot depends on how early we get out as the high for tomorrow is 90. The Denver 1/2 is coming up in a month so I need to be a bit more prepared than I was for the Disneyland 1/2. At least I can say that race was a PR race since it was my first. I'm hoping to better my time by at least a few minutes at Denver and then again at the Princess. It may be a bit of a challenge since Denver is 5000+ feet higher than Anaheim. Looking forward to running the Princess 1/2 at a lower altitiude.

2 miles up hill. WOW, I don't think I have done .25 miles up hill.
Good Luck on your long run tomorrow!

hi ladies!!

leaving tomorrow am for disney and i'm still not done packing! wow, i'm usually packed like a week ahead of time.

i ran 8 miles this morning! my longest ever. did it in 1.5 hours. not bad. i mean, sure, i'm no racing machine but i'm getting the miles done. but now? i feel very sore and tired. i still haven't brought water or food yet on my runs.

my back is killing me today too. i already have a bad back and i thought that getting in shape with running would help the back.

anywho, off to pack some more!!!! talk to you soon ladies!

Finished the Air Force Half Marathon today with my best time ever! 3:20 with walking the race. Went to the medical tent at the end feeling kind of woozy. blood pressure was 50/30!! Got to get this straightened out before my next Half in October. Was walking by myself wearing my Princess Half Marathon shirt when I was joined by another Princess wearing her princess Half Marathon shirt who was also walking alone. Our paces were similar so we finished the race togehter. Talking about Disney made some (o.k. maybe 2!! miles fly by). She is going to be a Perfect Princess in February, too. That is, unless she gets deployed. She is in the air force. It really struck me then, what our service men and women have to sacrifice for our country. Say thank you to the next one you see.

Made our reservation for Riverside for Princess week-end. Now, I just have to get registered!

Wow! that's an awesome job :cool1: With more training speed / time will get better.

I was so sick with a cold this week, I had to skip a week worth of training. Planning on getting back on board tomorrow. I am saddened I missed my 7 miles yesterday, so I am going to jump right into my 8 this coming Saturday

Thanks and have a good day!!

DH and I headed out 6:30 AM for our 10 mile long run. My goal was to run at least 6 miles before I started the run/walk. Woo- hoo...I ran the whole 10 miles without stopping in under 2 hours - no water, no gels, no breakfast. This is so much better than I did 2 weeks ago at the Disneyland 1/2. I took a walk/potty break before I hit 5 miles. Seems that I do better if I don't have that giant diet Coke or a ton of water pre-run.

DH and I are doing a Panera 5K next weekend with our 2 oldest kids. They both run cross country so it will be fun to run a race with them. I'm sure my freshman son will smoke us all as he is pretty close to a sub-7 mile on all of his school 5k races. We'll finish the rest of our weekend long run miles at some point after the race. I need to track down a trail where we can run and the kids can ride their bikes.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Congrats to all those who raced this weekend.

Congrats! Your time is fantastic.:woohoo:

Thanks. As I said to someone, it was nine miles of fun, two miles of work, and two of complete suck. Lots of lessons learned, but the biggest for me was that I needed more long run training. 12 mile LR training didn't prepare me for 13.1 at all.
