Eating before a LR or Half...

You need to work on this before race day...using LR for trail and error. There is alot of personal choice for this subject. I get up 30 min. before a LR (8-10 miles) and eat half a banana and 4oz of clear juice. I have a handheld water bottle and put 10oz of water in it and take a bag of sports beans. Around mile 5, I start to pop beans-tow the first time and mash them in the roof of my mouth and then take in some water and I continue taking one bean at a time every mile or so and some water. At the Princess this spring some girl opened her beans at the same time as me and downed them all at once. Just something you need to try. Others like gels and gu and shot block-there is a lot of stuff on the market.

How far have you built up your mileage? If you are at 10, or when you build up that far, let me know and you are welcome to join the group some Sat AM! It's a for-pay group, but the first couple of runs are free.

I'm only at 5.5; I'll be sure to check out the group when I get to 10. Thanks!

And here's an example of what it looks like on a person. The design is much larger and tiara-like than I would have expected looking at the sample picture. I also got one floral pattern, one that says "Slow, it's the new fast," and one with a cute turtle that says, "Wanna race?" I can't wait to get them. My hair is a chin length bob, so it's too short to put in a pony, but just long enough to constantly blow into my face when I run. My hair is also really fine, so even the "gripper" rubberized bands slide right off. I really hope Bondis will be my solution- especially since I bought four of them without trying one!

I too have tried the thin rubberized bands and like you they slipped right off. These really have my interest. Thank you so much!

jenna,
OK dumb questions, are the bondi band to pull your hair back or to keep your ears warm??:confused3

Jo

A lot of people use Bondi Bands to pull hair back and keep sweat out of the eyes, but they also work to keep ears warm if it is cold but not freezing. I used one for that at the Princess.

I personally need a brim when I run outside or I get a headache from the sun, so I don't use bondi bands much. I have tried mine a few times inside, and it worked well for keeping hair out of your face (I have long, wavy, fine hair).

In the summer I have taken to using a visor, but in the winter I will wear a hat. I am not really a fan of the visor look, but like the sleeveless shirt, I get past it. A hat (even a coolmax running hat) keeps in too much heat for the temps around here.

wow! never heard of bondi bands before! i might need to check them out too. my hair is long but i have sorta-bangs and when i run i get all these hairs flying around my face and getting stuck from the sweat. i was wearing a regular headband to run but it really bothers my head!

during the race, do most people need to take pee breaks? i've heard of lines at the porta potties and i think that would be a huge waste of time, esp since i can barely keep up the 16 min miles right now!

oh and for all the nc'ers, i went to college in winston-salem - does that make me an honorary nc'er?? love NC!

Dumbobuddy I use the porta potties about 3X before the race starts and then I use the real bathroom in the MK.

I often think I live in the North, as many "x-northerns" live in my neighborhood. So winston-Salem could you be a Wake graduate? My DS is a Wake graduate.

yep! i graduated in 2002 :) really enjoyed my time there!

Hello! I am doing the Princess with another friend and we are trying to find information on the special ticket prices.

Anyone here know where I can look to find out what our options are for discounted tickets? Are there discounted tickets if we are not staying at a WDW resort?

Thanks!
Jen

The tickets correspond with the race. They are about $20 cheaper depending on the option. But they cannot be changed into tickets that never expire. If you are interested in doing the coast to coast, I would encourage you to get a couple extra days tickets at WDW (they keep running the promo for a couple extra days free) as you can use those tickets at DL and CA. You just exchange them. Just do the math. It only works this way, not vice-versa - you can't use DL tickets at WDW. Or, if you are planning on a lot of races, getting a seasonal pass. Just a warning, the travel agency Disney chose for their sports events has some pretty rude and unhelpful people working for them. They push you to their website. Regardless, wait until last minute to book your tickets just in case a nice promo comes along! Tickets are expensive even with the discount! :(. You will get an e-mail about the discounted tickets in November.

And the discounts start at the 2-day ticket. There isn't a discount for 1-day tickets. The price I was quoted for a 2-day was $111.83

did you get that quote when you called (407) WDW-IRUN ? do they offer discounted tickets for runners?

I called the I RUN Phone number and I was quoted $170 for a 3 day hopper.

morning all!!

i just googled the race for some blogs on race reports. most people are talking about how cold it was and how they needed to wait around for 2+ hours.

just curious why they have you line up so early? is it just because there are so many people running and they need to get everyone there? will we really just need to stand there for 2 hours? i'm getting nervous that the extra time before the race will psych me out! also, and this may sound ridiculously lazy, but the thought of standing for two hours (it'd be ok if i knew i'd be on soarin' at the end of the line, lol) sounds terrible - can you sit anywhere?

some of the pictures on these blogs i've read are amazing! does anyone else feel like they might cry the whole time?? i think i might need to wear sunglasses!
