I'm not going to wait to sign up. I will do it before Aug 9 as I'm paying for me and my two daughters and if there is not another offer it will cost $60 more. I have a response from my DD as to what princess she wants (her favorite is Pocohontas), but she had to pick some one else so I just need to sit down and do it.
On another tangent..I just printed out my DL half waiver.

I know it is a long way from a half marathon but starting slowly ya know, I just decided to enter the local 5K on August 28th. I have some time to register so I thought I would see how I feel and maybe go crazy and do the 10K.
:woohoo:

Congrats! I'm running in my first race ever too...a 5K...next weekend and also thinking about looking for a 10K to try later in the year. Never something that I EVER thought would actually come out of my mouth! :lmao:

Yay for you both! Let me know how your 5K in next week, Cripey. I am assuming it's in Galveston?

Me too!!:rotfl:
If you find one let me know. I am still looking for a fall 10K. :thumbsup2

There are a couple in the HOuston area in the fall. I know there are several in October to coincide with Halloween- a monster dash at the Sam Houston, one in Pearland, and one in SugarLand for the Fort bend police department. There is also one in November in Galveston which looks pretty cool. My goal is to get ready for the one in Oct and do that and hopefully one in November as well. I can't remember the websites off-hand but if you google 'Houston 10K' they shoud pop up.

I am going to wait to register for the princess until I get a little more running under my belt. For some reason, I feel like if I can get to 5-6 miles then I will be able to make 13. I am ok with paying an extra 10$ for that mental security-- or maybe I am just rationalizing ( or am chicken).

I am doing my first 5k tomorrow and I am already nervous. I shouldn't be because I have been going 3-3.5 miles routinely on my runs. I just don't want to be last. And I don't want to look stupid running out there with people who will zip on by. Wish me luck!

If its the Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer 5K you will not be last. Just don't try to go out with the gazelles and you will avoid the slugs. Have fun and make sure you hydrate early while you wait for the race.

Good luck tomorrow Disneyaway!!

I am waiting to register as well, I agree that if I can get to 5+ miles I will be okay.
The other consideration, I am trying to get past is spending so much for a weekend. I am sure I will quickly get over that though. I was trying to get a friend {from NY} to meet me there and run too but I don't think she is going to go :(
I live in Michigan and to travel to WDW is not inexpensive especially considering I will be there Oct/Nov this year and then May 2011.

I hope you have a great run. Let us know how it goes. :)

I did a search yesterday and I found the Seawall half & 10K, I think that might be the one you were thinking of; it's Nov. 20th & 21st in Galveston. I think I am going to do it if I can work out child care.

I hope today's race went well for you. I can't wait to hear about it.

I just wanted to share that I just registered and am officially signed up now. I am not near and scared about that as I expected to be :lmao:

Hello all!

I ran my first 5k today and I finished!!! I think I was last to come in, but it doesn't matter. The course was hard though! It was hills and backwoods trails, which I had no idea would be there. But I still managed a 16:32 pace, which I was pretty stoked about. I'm planned to do another one in two weeks which I know is a flat course on streets, so I hope to do even better.

I am officially registered!! Signed up last day of the 120 price. Plan to stay "Perfectly Princess" and do it every year!

Congrats!! I am so proud of you!!

That is fabulous! My first 5K is at the end of the month

I hope I can finish and do well.

Registered this afternoon - I have now officially switched from a walker to a runner, so my screen name has changed from DisneyWalkerGirl to DisneyRunnerGirl!

This will be my first half after my 50th birthday :cool1:

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for the good wishes. I did my first 5K! :cool1: And I learned that I have a lot of work ahead of me. I also learned why certain rules are in place. Coach- it was the Lazy Hazy Days of Summer. It was a fun run. I did it in 45 minutes and was not last. So that's good. But here's what I learned:

1. A good night's rest does help. I was on call last night and got paged a couple of times, and my baby was super fussy so sleep was lacking

2. Do not try anything new. My DH got me a garmin 305 for my birthday. And I brought that with me instead of my trusty stopwatch. And I had trouble with it-- pushed some wrong button. So I couldn't time my intervals and ended up running too long at the start and ended up really tired by mile 2.

3. Don't let nervous energy get the better of you. Because of it, I started out way too fast. That combined with the fact that I was running longer than I had trained meant I was pooped by mile 2. I ended up walking to majority of the third mile. So I was a little disappointed by my time because I know I could have done better.

SummerIrmoma2_3 , the Sewall run does look like fun. I am thinking I may have DD4 do the little shrimp one and maybe just spend the weekend at Galveston.

It's exciting to see so many people signing up for the Princess.

I am doing my first half in October, 3 weeks before I turn 50. The Disney Princess Half Marathon will be my first half marathon at 50.:)

UGH........I am holding off on it. I am having problems with my back and I am having an MRI on Tue. NO worries for me running, until I fall - LOL :rotfl::rotfl:

But my surgeon just wants a baseline - so I am doing my second half in Oct and depending on my back will depend on if I want to do it. My heart is there and I want to do it - but the reality is if my back requires the attention I have to pick that.

Fingers crossed, my results on Friday will reveal I am good to go :)

Bottom line for me - I would rather pay an extra $20 then lose the money 100% if there is something truly wrong.

Congrats to you!! I am doing my first 5k next month! I'm a little nervous because the training doesn't seem to be getting any easier. But I am determined to be ready by the time the Princess half comes!

:cheer2: That's so great. I did my first 5K yesterday too. Although yours sounds much more challenging than mine. Good luck on your next one
