UGH........I am holding off on it. I am having problems with my back and I am having an MRI on Tue. NO worries for me running, until I fall - LOL :rotfl::rotfl:

But my surgeon just wants a baseline - so I am doing my second half in Oct and depending on my back will depend on if I want to do it. My heart is there and I want to do it - but the reality is if my back requires the attention I have to pick that.

Fingers crossed, my results on Friday will reveal I am good to go :)

Bottom line for me - I would rather pay an extra $20 then lose the money 100% if there is something truly wrong.

I hope your MRI results are good and you can run this race. You are wise to wait to register. Keep us posted.

Thanks Trudes, I will do it!! But for peace of mind, I decided to hold off --- what is another week? :rotfl2:

Hello all!

I ran my first 5k today and I finished!!! I think I was last to come in, but it doesn't matter. The course was hard though! It was hills and backwoods trails, which I had no idea would be there. But I still managed a 16:32 pace, which I was pretty stoked about. I'm planned to do another one in two weeks which I know is a flat course on streets, so I hope to do even better.

Congrats!!! These can become addicting :) Just remember the big prize is in Feb, for now this are all the steps for you to made your grand enterance at WDW Princess :banana::banana:

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for the good wishes. I did my first 5K! :cool1: And I learned that I have a lot of work ahead of me. I also learned why certain rules are in place. Coach- it was the Lazy Hazy Days of Summer. It was a fun run. I did it in 45 minutes and was not last.

SummerIrmoma2_3 , the Sewall run does look like fun. I am thinking I may have DD4 do the little shrimp one and maybe just spend the weekend at Galveston.

Congrats on your 5k :cheer2:

I was thinking of making a weekend of it too. If dh can get the time off I was thinking of volunteering at the half on Sat and then running the 10k on Sunday.

GL and I think you made the right choice. I hope everything comes back just fine.

Congrats on your 5k too. :cheer2: The trails sound kind of fun, but the hills? Not so much. ;)

Wow there were a bunch of us signing up this weekend. I don't know if it helped me or not but yesterdays run was a new pace record for us since starting the M4M training. :woohoo:

That's excellent! Congratulations on your first race. You did well! Glad to hear it

I will give that a try!

My cross-training is only twice a week, one elliptical and one ice hockey. I have added Pilates and Yoga once a week each, as well.

I had bad shins during Princess 2010 training, but had done fine with the shin splints in training for the Chicago RnR. However, my left shin KILLED about halfway through the race last weekend.

Today is the first day that I haven't been *really* sore. Unfortunately, this is a week that I am on-site and wandering a hospital for 8-10 hours a day rather than my usual desk job. Not sure if that is hurting or helping the soreness...

I am a complete newbie to running so I feel silly giving you advice...but when I went to get my first pair of running shoes I mentioned that I was having trouble with shin splints. Of course I was told that having the right shoes was the most important aspect of getting rid of the shin splints. He said that it would take 10 days to feel better. In the mean time, he told me that before I run I should take my thumbs and rub in circular motions up and down each side of the main bone in front of my leg below the knee (can't remember that name of it). And to ice my shins for 10 to 15 minutes after I run. He explained the reasoning for this but I can't remember it all. Anyway this worked for me and I haven't had any pain.

Thanks for all of your advice and encouragement. You have been a great inspiration to me!

Thanks for the info - I am having trouble too! I love my shoes but perhaps they are better for walking around WDW than for running.

I am such a non-runner-- at least I was until about six weeks ago. I'm 4 weeks into C25K and I've signed up for the Mickey's Hawloween Family 5K. This all started as motivation to get healthy! (I'm defintely a Big Girl!! :flower3: )

I'm anticipating that this won't be my last race come October 2, and Disney is where I want to run. So to motivate myself, I made DVC reservations for the Princess! I'm hoping to do the Half, but figure I'll definitely be able to do th 5K. But the best omen was when I called to make my DVC reservation I was able to get a Magic Kingdom view studio!! 6 months out! This is close to miraculous, so I'm taking it as a sign!

After reading this thread, I SO want to do the Princess Half. Doing so would be such a personal triumph...

Wow, what an awesome thing! I agree that it's definitely a good sign!

You CAN do the Princess!! I was never a runner, and I'm still not for that matter, but I was able to finish and receive a medal at this year's Princess! Believe me, you can do it!!:thumbsup2

Mama Crush,
I am not a runner by any means, I have a 5K with useing the C25k program.
I have signed up for the princess. We can Do this!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! I was really proud of how I did. I think I am going to do my first 10K on Sept 11th. I started a new training program this week, and am trying to find a running club in the hopes of getting a bit faster. 2 weeks untill my next 5K!

Just wondering where everyone is planning on staying (or already booked if you're already done so). We're staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge and DH's parents are staying most likely Pop. We'll be there 2/24-28.

Just booked to do with my daughter!! Staying at POR and CAN NOT wait! :cool1:

WooHoo:banana::banana: POR is on my short list of places to stay. :thumbsup2

This is my personal triumph too. Although I just registered on Sat so I am definitely doing it. :scared1:

Right now my short list is POR CBR and AKL. DH and I are booked for POR in Dec for our anniversary but if that trip doesn't happen I will probably go ahead and stay at AKL, if we do go to POR and love it I will go back there, if not CBR it is. I should know if we are canceling in the next week or two and will book accordingly then.

I'm hoping to stay at AKL, but will have to see how money's looking. If that doesn't work out then we'll probably be at POR for the weekend.

Will probably be at POFQ.

Does anyone know when the paraphernalia comes out. I really want a princess in training shirt for an upcoming trip?
