I am definitely waiting for our temps to come back down. Hopefully I will be able to train outside come late October. Just realize you can put more clothing on than you can take off. I have several cold weather compression shirts I use. I also have a couple lighter weight long sleeve running shirts I use under my running jacket for those in between temps. I can't do the heat thing though. Tomorrow's heat index is 110 here and the overnight lows are still in the upper 70's, so there is no getting up before the heat to run.

I live in Alabama, too. I ran yesterday morning and felt like I started to sweat as soon as I opened the door and that was a 5 am!!! I am ready for some cooler weather too!!!!

Lets talk fuel belts! I am really interested in the Amphipod due to the versatility of moving bottles around. Anyone have experiences with this brand?

I am a handheld girl also and take my Nathan QuickDraw Plus on every run. With my longer distances though, I am needing a belt for more fluids AND pouches for gel, keys, cellphone, etc .storage. I HATE the thought of belts, but am finding that I am going to have to use one.

I have the fuel belt mono. It has one 10 oz bottle, and even that I find kind of irritating. It does move around, though, which is nice.

I hold my phone so the handheld isn't an option, unfortunately.

Last year I just had the spi belt and used the course water.

I am also a hat girl, although I have moved to a visor for the summer. Evidently you lose a lot of heat through your head, so a hat can trap that? :confused3 I am not a fan of how visors look really, but I have to have the brim or the sun bothers me to no end.

I've been using the Amphipod Full Tilt Velocity. (http://www.amphipod.com/320/320.html) When I first saw it, I didn't even consider it becuase it looked so bulky to me in the store but when none of the other belts were fitting me comfortably I tried it and it was like it was custom made to fit right in my lower back. It's very lightweight, comfortable, and the bottle is very easy to get in and out. There is also a zipper pouch that easily holds my car key, ipod, cell phone and the excess slack from my headphone wire.

I am in! A bunch of my friends and I decided to do this this year- It kind of has been on my bucket list and this is a good time so we are in!
I will take any advice about it all since I am a newbie! I started walking about 3 months ago & do 3 miles every day and resting on the weekends. I want to mix that up a bit.
What nutrition shuld i be concerned about?
I don't really want to run, I prefer walking but will run or rathe job some of it so that I keep my speed up. I do a 15 minute mile now & want to shorten that to 13 minutes.
I need a good sports bra and shoes - who can recommend what?
Thanks for any help!

I just got an amphipod run-lite. It came with 4 bottles, but I'm only using 2. I MUCH prefer it to a handheld. I love that the bottles can be either horizontal or vertical. I'm still playing with different setups, but so far I like it. While I'd love to run without it, I know I need to carry water, and I just can't do a handheld. I figure like anything new, it will just take some time to get used to it.

How does the sizing run with the Amphipod? I have a 29" waist and ASSUMING that I would get the small. Sound right?

I am toying with the idea of using a belt. I always take my iphone for safety and entertainment and it would nice to stash it in a belt. I tried the arm thing and couldn't stand it! Also have been wondering about staying off site. Has anyone here stayed off site and just drove to Epcot in the am? I can get a great deal at an off site suite where my whole group can stay cheaper than one room at an all star.

I live in Florida and it has been so humid and hot no matter when I go! I try to go later at night if I am doing street time. If not, it is inside the gym in the ac. I can't wait for fall weather. I am just hoping it is not as cold this winter as last. It was really uncharacteristically cold for awhile this year.

I need to get somthing better to hold my iphone and anything else I have with me on my runs. I had bought a cheap hydration belt at target. Works great for walking. But running it is awful and just getting worse. I have stopped carrying the water since it annoyed me.

Get a SPIbelt. Fits right on your hip and never moves.

I use the i-fitness belt with the single pouch and it was straps for your number (bib)....its small, good for the gels....otherwise I usually hold things...I don't think I want to use anything with to much added weight.

Kat, are you using a tech hat or a baseball cap?

I was using a tech hat, moved to a tech visor. It's really hot down here, though... usually at least in the upper 70s and 80%+ humidity when we start our long runs at 6:30 on SatAM, and it just goes up from there.

I will probably use a hat once it gets cooler, though.

Yeah, I had to do that too. Not a fan, but we are required to carry water and it's allright. I like it better now that I've lost a little more weight and it fits around my hips. When it was around my waist I would sometimes get stomachaches.

I would go to a running store or a Dick's and try different ones on. You may find you want the bigger size and want it to fit around your hips and not your waist.

Welcome!

I would recommend going to a running store and getting fitted for shoes, or you can also google "running shoe fit" and find ways to "fit" yourself at home (using water and wet footprint analysis).

Sports bra... I love the Champion Dual Dry underwire ones, that you can get on their website. Style 6242 is my favorite. I am slightly bigger chested (36D, was DD), and the underwire versions really help keep things where they belong. :)

I will PM you.

How does the SPIbelt work with the headphones? The only good think about my current belt is the window so I can see my pace and how long i have been doing my run.

Do you use the iPhone? I use the MayMyRun app which announces my pace/distance every half mile (you can set it to whatever you want), so I don't even need to look.

Does it do it through your headphones? I might need to look at that one (assuming it's made for Android) instead of RunKeeper... is it a free app?
