Those are the dates that were printed on the back of the Official Storybook Program that every participant received at this year's race, so I wouldn't think that Disney would publish it if those weren't the correct dates.

Hi Everyone -

I called Disney Endurance today, I had a question about this past 1/2 (its an amazing experience).

I also asked when the 1/2 was going to OPEN for 2011!!

Well, it will be open on May 1st - so mark your calendars!!

and count me in for next year too:cool1:

Thanks for this info - marking my calendar!!!!

No problem!:thumbsup2 I totally understand that feeling of needing to book DVC! I just wish we could know what the host resorts are sooner rather than later!!

I know! I just booked AKV since that is one of my home resorts. It would be nice to be able to stay there and see the animals but, if not, I'll just take this as an opportunity to try a new resort and keep my fingers crossed at the 7 month mark. First race, first studio, first solo trip, maybe first time at a resort -- a lot of firsts for me in March! :cool2:

You won't have that issue most likely. It was so cold that I really didn't see anyone sweating until maybe the very end when it finally started to warm up. Have you ever worn a sports headband to keep the sweat under control?

This year was unusually cool. Even in January we have had some really hot times. You'll still want to be prepared for heat next year.

Pam - i'll miss seeing you in January but woo hoo fro a Princess trip adn and awesome cruise!

Whoo hoo!!! Very exciting!!

I'm in for the Princess half too!!! I can't believe it!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!

I was going to stay at POP but will see what the host value hotel will be since I won't have a vehicle I will need to rely on disney transit.

I don't even know if I am going alone or with my fam. I will have to talk to DH. I seriously doubt he is going to let me go without him. :rotfl:

ooooh! i really, really want to do this! of course, it will take some training as i am currently a couch potato. :rotfl: i have lots of time to prepare though! and what better motivation than a trip to WDW! :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone, I am joining along as well. I am crossing my fingers that my plan works out and my mom and I will be attending the princess 1/2. My mom will be on the sidelines while I run. We will use the trip as a much needed girls weekend. I am new to all this so I have a few questions. Do you have to stay at a host resort and why? Is it ok come saturday and not friday or do you miss alot? I was thinking getting to disney early sat. and leaving tuesday. I need these minor details to try to convince my mom that this is a great idea. She is not a crazed disney fanatic like us so she needs a little work.
Thanks for any suggestions and I look forward to talking with you all on here.

I'm a lot like you! I'll be going with my mom as well and she'll also be on the sidelines cheering me on! We'll be staying at a race hotel just because I don't want to find my own transportation on race day. Ill come in fri night just so both of us can do the 5k on sat morning and we'll likely leave on tuesday too. I don't see myself touring disney full force after running my first half! Your idea sounds fine to me!

Congratulations - and good luck convincing mom!

- you don't have to stay at a host resort, but if you don't you just need transportation - at about 4am in the morning! (so rent a car, or schedule a taxi, etc...this year, we had our car, worked out fine) if you aren't at a host hotel. If you choose to stay at a "host hotel" - they offer transportation for you to the expo/and event. Keep in mind you'll be getting there super early race day (ex: 4am, race starts 2 hours later) - and they close roads, so that's your choice -- host hotel/their transportation --- other hotel/your own transportation.

- the expo this year was both on Friday and Saturday - either day is fine, and you won't miss anything

wow we are almost identical!:thumbsup2 Maybe once I actually convince my mom to go I can talk her into friday night. Are you and your mom walking the 5K? I think from reading it sounds like a host hotel is the way to go. Do you know when they announce the hotels?

Thanks so much for the advice. It is very helpful. I am crossing my fingers. Hopefully she makes the decision soon so I can get going planning and running of course!

Hi there I am going with my daughter also, however, I am the one pushing her to go. We ran the 1/2 marathon in Disneyland last year and I am ready to do the Coast to Coast next year. She not to sure about the whole thing, but I still have some time for her to see it my way. I am planning to stay a week after the race. Has any one been there after the race? How are the crowds?

Wow..this sounds awesome! I am just starting to work on getting back into excercise after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I know I will have to take it slow but I think mentally I need to know that I can accomplish this. This will definitely help with the motivation!

I'm not going to be able to make it in 2011, financial reasons, but here's hoping for the 2012 Princesses! :lovestruc I am struggling to loose postpartum weight, so instead of focusing on lbs I'm focusing on being able to run this in my Happy Place! So an ideal itinerary would have me to the expo on Friday rather than Saturday right? I'm hoping the Poly stays as a host hotel so I can walk from SOG to the pickup. Keep it coming ladies, I'm looking to loose 80 lbs. currently can't jog for more than a minute, but I'm trying! That medal is looking sweet!

Just an update to let everyone know. I am doing it! My mom has agreed that if I start training she will take me to disney! I am so excited. I am so thrilled that this can be the first 1/2 that I do what place could be any better. I have started my journal and am going to join the incredibles team.
