Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

This is what thought was interesting about the discount page,
it said...

Admission to Disneyland® Park up to 3 hours prior to Mickey's Halloween Party start time. Early access to Park begins at 3pm on Monday and Tuesday nights and 4pm on Friday nights.
.....hmmmmmm. I have only ever read 4 pm access.

I was checking because we are going to a Friday party at MK in Sept. I would gladly switch my Tuesday night reservation to another day if there was a deal to go to the party on Tuesday and save a few dollars with a Chase discount.

We're hoping to be there November 1 for our first party! DD will be 4 then, so I don't think she will mind going the day after Halloween. I hope not! Our trip dates are Oct 29-Nov 5, and I definitely don't want to try the party on the 31st. I'm afraid of huge crowds.

Wish us luck! I was going to go to MVMCP this past December on a trip with my best friend, but she got sick that day. I encountered some great CMs that got me a refund, though! I literally cried as I handed over my credit card for that refund.

yes, you see non-disney costumes. Last year my boys went as Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort-once my youngest realized they weren't laughing at him (they got a ton of attention as a pair, along with"you are at the wrong park") they had a blast. Unfortunately, I have even seen some not so apprioate bunny costumes, kwim?? The majority will be Disney based costumes but it doesn't really matter, but being in costume does make it more fun for us-the first year DH and myself just went with shirts and felt a little underdressed once we got there.

Has anyone seen a character lineup for this year's party yet? It has hit me we are finally getting close so time to start planning.

Does anyone ever go in a non-Disney costume, like, oh, a Universal character?

'Sup Tacoma! Lovely weather we're having this time of year, LOL!

My daughter would have worn her Hogwarts robes, but it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hot, even at night. We have the felt robe, great quality, but she would have been a little pool of 7 year old sweat in it. Even the polyester ones would have been bad. I think it was still like 85 degrees at 10pm last Sept. You can see the pic in ticker of what she wore, we were fine all night in that.

They give you a bag when you get your wristband. The bags aren't huge, but we found them to be just fine.

There are a lot of pictures from the party over on the info side of the DIS:

If you want more than the plastic ones they hand out they sell really cute ones in all the shops in the parks that have Halloween merch as well. We bought an orange felt one with a pumpkin head Mickey on it pretty inexpensively, and it was great! People saw what we were carrying and went to get their own as well, LOL.

Good to know! And what a great costume idea for the two of them. :)

Bizarre weather, that's for sure. Yesterday down here (I've been noticing more and more that the 30 miles between cities can make a huge difference in what we're experiencing in weather!) it started off like Fall, but by 7pm the sun was shining so bright it felt like a bright morning!

pool of 7 year old sweat...that's how my son would be!

He was thinking of HP, but that would have required that I go to universal earlier in our trip than intended, to buy them...or order them online (my husband promised him THE Universal robes last year, I do not know why, crazy-man), and the sizing blah blah. Plus, the heat.

Then we came up with the idea of him being an agent with MIB. :) We've modified the suit outfit to just nice (Goodwill) black pants and shirt and "noisy cricket" and hmm I wish we'd gotten a neurolator last year (is that what they are called?).

And since I posted last night we've come up with the idea that hubby and I will be, not just ANY old aliens-in-disguise, but Disney aliens-in-disguise. :)

September is actually still pretty hot....85 sounds about normal to me, even at night...it won't be in the 70's and high 60's until October. Novemeber 10 degrees down, December 10 degrees down. It's Florida, it doesn't get very cold until January, still only 40s and 50s then. 30's at night.

wOOt!! Awesome! I love hearing about first-timers! You guys are gonna have so much fun! Any reservations your DD has about going the day after Halloween will melt away the second she sees MK all lit up in wonderful Halloween colors! Don't forget...even if you're going just for the party, party-guests will be allowed in as early as 4:00 pm...so three extra hours of magic!! Have a great time!!:dance3::banana:

For anyone making their costume/wanting to save a little money:
If there is a JoAnn Fabrics in your area they will be having a major sale this weekend! Did anyone else get all those 40% coupons in the mail? You can combine them to make your own sale. I'm gonna go either Fri. or Sat. and pick up all of the rest of my costume supplies at almost half off! Anyone who's making their costume might like to look into this :)

My DD and I are doing a mommy / daughter trip and hope to go to the Sunday October 23rd party. I don't normally dress up for Halloween but thought I might this year if I could think of coordinating costumes for us. My DD will be 9. Any ideas?
Also this will be our first time in October. What is the temp normally like? I know September is hot hot hot! and always have dressed DD in a summer costume. Last time she was Lilo with a grass skirt and red tank top.

Just wondering will the monorail be running on the nights of the party or are they considered extra hours?

I don't think it's considered extra hours, but unless another park is open until 12am via nonEMH I doubt they will be running that late. Should be able to get there via monorail though, just not back necessarily.

Some folks on the now 100 page long monorail thread have actually heard form Disney to address their questions. This is a huge issue whether one is attending the party, staying at a monorail resort, or even just eating at one of the monorail resorts on a party night. The latest response from a Disney rep was that they hadn't fully considered the parties when making their decision to close the monorail 1 hour after regular closing time at the MK. Stay tuned.

Boy, that is the understatement of the century right there.
