Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

Where doing two partys this year:cool1:, we are holeding nothing back. We are doing rope drop the morining of,the morining after one day and I am playing golf at 7am the next. 10 days I am going to end up on fumes:lmao:

Can anyone point me to the link where you can buy the tickets with an AP discount? Can't seem to track it down.

The part I would be concerned about is making rope drop the next morning. I would never try that. Rather than take a short day the day OF the party, we take a late start the next day. It would probably be best to do both, but we don't like to take that much time out of our park plans.

We did a hard ticketed party once with ADR's at CRT around park opening the next morning. My daughter was 6. We ended up leaving the party around 10:45, and even then it was frustrating to see how much we had to walk right past without doing. And getting everyone up and out the door early the next......... was hard. And she looked very tired in all the photos we took!

I think that is one of the reasons I've vowed never to go commando on park visits. I think having one day where you do rope drop is good but to wake up early every morning is too much for me. I can't imagine how it will be for DD. HOWEVER DH is ALL about the COMMANDO! When we went to US this past summer he wanted to be up and out of the door at 8. Granted it was the first summer of HP but we were there for a week! I wanted to go take a swim in the pool one AM. Have break at night and just go shopping was out of the question.

I know it's hard to find that right balance within a family when one wants to go go go and the other likes to kick back. For the trip I described above, it was only 2 days at Disney for us, one at MK and one at AK. And we had just been to the beach the few days ahead of that where all we did was kick back. It was sort of a last minute decision for us to add the P&P Party, so we had very little room to maneuver our schedule.

Given the choice of a slow down day the day OF the party or the day after, I prefer the day after. Lots will choose both, but I go to Disney to be in the parks. We actually attend 2 parties now when we go so we can slow down and enjoy the atmosphere without worrying about what we'll miss. And then we don't stay all the way til midnight.

I'm the Energizer bunny when it comes to Disney, but under no circumstance would I do a party then plan on rope drop the next morning.

I think it depends on crowd levels. We we just there last week and going to rope drop was the best way to get on the most popular rides without too much of a wait. The first 2 hours we would ride twice as many rides as we could the rest of the day. Also kind of hot so an afternoon break to rest or swim was a must.

we are going to the party on 9/23.. its our first time and Im beyond excited!!!! thanks for posting all of this... i didnt realize all that would be goign on or that they give out ToT bags and i wont have to bring our own! Do adults normally dress up? We love halloween and plan on all of us going as pirates but if its really only kids, my husband and I wont go buy costumes. Im very excited to hear there is so much to do, like the dance parties with the characters and the meet and greets.. i realy need to read more on how to go about doing those... like how long before to get there and where to even go (sorry im new to all this lol)

I think we average maybe two rope drops on a 7 day trip. We are night owls though so we tend to take advantage of the EMH at night more than the early am ones. I agree crowd levels play a big part!

There were lots of adults dressed up too, lots of families go in theme costumes and all match.

You can get into the MK with you party ticket starting at 4:00pm, which is great because it saves you a day of regular, much more expensive park admission. They give each of you wristbands, which around 7pm the Castmembers will ask to see to verify that you are ticketed for the night. The Villians show is scheduled at different times during the night, the dance parties go on continuously and are a blast.

You will be given a map of where everything is, including the trick or treat trails when you enter the party so it's easy to find everything.

DRESS UP! :rotfl:Go for it. I think a pirate family will be very cute! I'm still not sure what we are all doing. DD has suddenly turned into this HUGE! Minnie Mouse fan. I was originally thinking Princess Tiana or Miss Piggy.

Go to magic Kingdom:rotfl:. I think with the ticket you can get in at 4 ( someone will tell me if I'm wrong).

What time zone are you coming from? If you're traveling from the west, this can work in your favor.

I've got little ones who are usually in bed by 8:30, but if we nap them in the afternoon and have a relaxing day, they can stay up for things pretty late. Plus, it will be earlier in our home time zone and we're going to the party the first night we're there before they are "adjusted"

Thats a great point. It's not that I don't want them to be up past bedtime, I just don't want crabby kids!!!! The excitement will get them revved up! Now to just convince my husband to spend an extra $200.00 on park tickets!:lmao:

Hey everyone, I thought I once saw a list of attractions that are typically not open during the party but couldn't remember where I saw it. Does anyone have a link or know specifically what closes during the party?

I've also seen some old news floating around the web about a "haunted" Liberty Belle ride and was wondering if they still do that. Thanks!

Also just looking back at some of the previous convo going on...

this is our first party too, but it is just my DH & I this trip...so we are actually going to be at DHS for RD that morning if all goes according to plan and tour a bit there, have a nice lunch at HBD at 12 pm then go back to our resort for a rest before changing into COSTUME but of course and heading into MK shortly after 4 pm. the next day we have a lesuirely day planned w/ a mid morning bfast at the Wave (we are staying BLT) and then off to AK/EP for a few other things....if our 4 kids were in tow, I wouldn't change to much on the day of but certaintly wouldn't plan much for day after...a resort break or or least a 1/2 day rest would be in order!

I'm going nuts trying to decide which party night to do on our trip. The best "fit" for our schedule would be to go to the party on Friday October 21st. This is also our last day of our trip. Is it going to be crazy crowded on that date, since its a non-discount night and so close to Halloween? My back up plan is to go Thursday the 20th.

We went in 09 on a Thursday, but it was early October during the great heat wave.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

We went last year on Tuesday Oct 19 and it was not crowded at all. Have fun!:goodvibes

I want to purchase advance tix for a certain date
How do you all buy them ???

We have breakfast, then swim, then a light lunch, then shower, then nap, get ready for MNSSHP, MK gate at 4, & stay until midnight. We live in central times zone. My kids are in bed my 8:30 at home but if we follow our PRE-MNSSHP plan then the do well. The next day we all sleep later almost to 7:30a.m. :rotfl2:

Its so easy:rotfl2:,we plan on staying in the park until 11/12 then I am getting up at at 5:30 to go play golf the the next morining, for both of our MNSSHP days). We are doing the party twice and and staying up untill past midnight most of our ten days:cool1: at the world, and getting up at 5/6am most morinings:cool1:. ya easy:rotfl2:. Oh well its going to be a long flight home we can make up our sleep then:cool1:

They didn't do the Liberty Belle last year and I was SO bummed. It was a major highlight from other years. I'm really hoping they bring it back this year, especially since Toontown has gone the way of the Dinosaur so there won't be the Wonderland Trick or Treat trail. I am hoping they put some characters on there, like Donald and Daisy since they no longer have a designated spot. It's the perfect place for them.
