OFFICIAL 2010 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) Tips and Tricks

Does any one know if Lanny and Wayne from Prep and Landing will be in the parks or at the party?

Someone help me out on this. I'm reading the MVMCP brochure and it says one thing, but I know how Disney does things so I'm reluctant to take the wording of the brochure at face value. It says:

"Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Party

Enjoy exclusive viewing of "Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season" Fireworks Spectacular and a dessert party beginning at 8:30 PM. Guests will enjoy a self-service buffet featuring a wide-range of sweets and beverages.

Space is limited, please visit any table-service restaurant or Guest Relations to secure a reservation."

I'm really confused about the bolded part. It reads as if you a.) don't need an ADR and b.) that it is included in the ticket cost or is complimentary and c.) all you have to do is waltz up to Guest Relations and you're in. I've been doing this WDW/ADR thing long enough to know it's not this simple, few things are complimentary and you practically need a reservation to use the ladies' room. I already have the Dessert Party booked for an earlier night, and I've learned through the DIS that the DP isn't available on MVMCP nights.
I've called Guest Services and they didn't know what I was talking about. ::sigh:: (no suprise)

Please, someone, help me decode this Disney-speak. I know it's just not that easy!

I believe this is just the regular fireworks dessert paty and no it is not free;)

We are going the night of the 7th - where did you find info stating it would be a busier night???? I figured since it was a Tuesday it would be safer than a weekend!

I thought the exact same thing. Wouldnt the 5th which is sunday be busier than Tuesday the 7th? Hmmmm anymore insight to the crowds for these two options? thanks!

I believe the thinking is that many guest arrive on Saturday or Sunday and once they hear about the party, they plan to go on Tuesday. How do you not know about the party before you leave home? I'm guessing that these are the same people, i.e. the vast majority of guests, who don't know how the fastpass system works and think that it's a good idea to walk into the parks at 10:30am.

Just wondering... do the characters only appear at the greeting locations and at the dance party areas?
Back in 2001, we went to the Holloween party and and characters were walking around.

From what I have read the thinking is since they are not offering an advance purchase ticket discount for Tuesday that they plan on that being a busy night. They do offer it though for Sunday though. This is the only reasoning we are using and we arrive on the 4th; way too excited to wait until the 7th :goodvibes

And in the past, it was the discount nights that sold out!

The bottom line is there is no way to tell in advance. Just pick the day that works with your touring plan and hope for the best!

Disney Tampa, Thanks so much for posting the video. This will be our first time at Disney for Christmas and we knew we didn't want to miss MVMCP but now we are more excited than ever!!!!!

The characters don't wander around much at all any more, party or not. They probably had trouble with them getting mobbed.

I know that we're not going to have time to do everything so what shows/things are not to miss.

I know we want to:
  1. Watch Holiday Wishes
  2. Watch the Late Christmas Parade
  3. Have Picture taken with Belle & the Beast
  4. Have Picture taken with Mickey & Minnie

I don't care if we do any rides or not, we have a couple other days planned for that. We are basically doing the party for party only things.

I see that there are spots for Special Event Merchandise. Now that the parties have started does anyone have pictures of this stuff?

What exctly is this "special merchandise" people are talking about? I have never heard of this before.

Merch you can only get at the party that usually has the party logo. I say 'usually' because if you utter the words 'always' or 'never' on the DIS, someone will, no doubt, swoop in to tell you that this one time, a million years ago on another planet, there was a special MVMCP shirt without the logo. ;)
