Official 2010 College Football Discussion Thread

Go Hogs! I'm really hoping for a win today! :cheer2: Okay, right, I know. I think I really am hoping for a GOOD game today. Especially if it ends up with a "W" for the Razorbacks!

SC/Auburn - I'm pulling for SC - it's my home team locally.

WVU/LSU - I'll be rooting for LSU!

Wake/FSU - I'd like to see Wake pull it out, but feel like I'll be disappointed.

DH said Ohio State is playing someone lame today - I already forgot who he said - sorry if I'm offending someone's alma mater. However, DH will be watching Arkansas today. :rolleyes1

So I'm watching the Michigan-Bowling Green game this afternoon and they show the game time conditions and it's 55 degrees F (that's cool),

I cut grass this morning, weed whacked, edged, changed out flood lights, and worked in the 90 degree heat before the games came on.

I wish some of that 50F temps would come down south. :santa:

Nice comeback by Bama!

I didn't see much of the game since I was watching the Noles, but must have been a great second half of football.

It was a nice comeback. Bama was down I think 17-7 at the half and didn't pull ahead until the 4th quarter. Bama had 2 passes INT'd in the first half and Arky had 2 INT'd in the 2nd half.

So no panic. Another team falls victim to The Process. Getting ready for the Gators next week. Should be a great game. :cheer2:

PS-BTW, Texas lost to UCLA of all people. The UT fans will have a hard time with this one......

Yes, we are thank you very much. Your day will come also!

Everybody has a day coming. But it's unusual to see a top 10 team lose to an unranked opponent by this margin. If Ole Miss were to beat Bama by a wide margin this year I'd say the same.

Bama ED

I dare say that if Ole Miss beat the crimson and white by this margin, Ed would not show his postings on this board for months. Mary Anne, hold your head high. Texas has had a bad day for sure. Your coach has gone on national TV and apologized as such. They will recoup and come back stronger than ever.

Oh, yeah, UT fans hang in there! I feel for you. That had to be painful to watch - I couldn't believe it when I saw the score updates.

So, my Hogs hung in there pretty good. First three quarters, I was pretty happy. Last quarter - well, that's just par for the course. I would personally like to smack Mallett. When you throw the ball away, you really are supposed to throw it FAR AWAY. :headache: I'm sure he was trying not to get flagged for intentional grounding or something, but really? Ugh.
Oh, well. I'm proud that we made a good showing.

The games I am interested in this weekend:

-Va. Tech @ B.C.- I am rooting for B.C., but I think Va. Tech takes this one.

-'Bama @ Arkansas- Boy, I don't know. I haven't seen much of either team yet. Sorry Arkansas fans, but I'm pulling for 'Bama here. I'd like them to be undefeated when the Gators beat them (either next week or in the SEC Chompionship is fine with me, if not both).

-Wake @ FSU- I have seen enough of FSU so far this season to say they win this one easily.

-KY @ UF- I am looking for UF to loosen up on offense, and I expect them to win by at least two touchdowns.

-GA @ Miss. St.- Georgia is stinking up the place so far this year. I'd like to see Miss. St. win this one.

-SC @ Auburn- This is going to be a good game. I am shouting out a big War Eagle on this one. UF benefits if SC gets a loss here, so that is what I am hoping for. I am looking forward to seeing Chizik v. Spurrier and Newton v. Garcia.

-Oregon State v. Boise- OY! This crappy game is already being over-hyped (Did anyone see Dr. Lou last night?)- I hope I don't accidentally channel surf into this game. Dear Boise please go away. Now. I really, really, would love to see Boise lose this one. But, I'm afraid they won't.

-WV @ LSU- I have to go with the SEC here. Geaux Tigers!

Boy, that's a lot of football this weekend!

But next week looks even better!

TCD

Hmmmm.

The TCD wish-o-meter worked pretty good last weekend.

But, Boise is still hanging around.

And, just by coincidence, I'm sure, their upcoming opponent, Nevada, finds itself in the top 25. Oh boy! I'm sure ESPN will be drooling all over that one too.
Nah, not over-hyped at all.

Let's see, we have...

-Alabama at Arkansas

-USC at Auburn

-WVU at LSU

and probably a few more games that, at least to me, are going to be much more appealing and guess where Gameday will be set up?

You guessed it, Boise State.

And, there's a pretty big game in Tuscaloosa on this coming Saturday night.

But game day has chosen to go to Oregon.

It's pretty clear ESPN is bent about CBS's deal with the SEC.

BTW- Congrats to the 'Noles. Nice shutout! They will have to be back in the top 25 after they beat Virginia this week. They should be there already.

So no panic. Another team falls victim to The Process. Getting ready for the Gators next week. Should be a great game. :cheer2:

Bama ED

Yes a big game indeed!

Is there anything like the SEC?

'Bama plays Arkansas, Florida, and then South Carolina in three successive weeks. Quite a challenge.

I'm not sure Florida can stop Ingram.

And, from what I've seen so far, Florida will not win a shoot-out with 'Bama.

Florida's defense will be key.

Florida has speed, but not size. If Ingram has a big game, it's over for Florida.

Wish Coach Mark Richt would go on national tv and announce his resignation....

What an embarrassment!

Richt is as good as gone.

Between Eastern Washington's red turf and the "smurf turf" at BSU, I need a double eye transplant.

Can't people just make green turf? Grass is green right? Photosynthesis? I understand it is turf and you don't need organic things to make their own food, but for the love of football, enough!:3dglasses

OK, back to your regularly scheduled predictions and bantering.

Hey- Where are the predictions and bantering?

The weekend is here!

We have nationally televised games tonight and tomorrow night.

Ho-hum on both of those.

Here's what interests me for Saturday:

Miami @ Clemson- Miami
FSU @ Virgina- FSU
Texas @ OK- I don't know- both of these teams have struggled. I would think Texas will be back strong to make a case that last week was a fluke.
Tenn. @ LSU- Poor Coach Dooley. That Lane Kiffen jerk really left this program in a shambles. Tigers roll again.
Va. Tech @ NC State- I think NC State gets whooped here.

And then, there is the game which I have been waiting for since last December . . .

Florida at Alabama!

Unfortunately, I have to say Alabama will take this one. I can't see the Gators defense stopping Alabama's running game, and Florida is not equipped to engage in a shoot-out. Plus, Nick Saban owns Urban Meyer. Hopefully, Florida will be back in the SECCG with one loss, and depending on what else happens, they still have a shot at the big dance.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you.

Alabama has certainly had it's moments of not-so-inspirational play. But, like the Gators of a couple years ago, they have the ability to turn it on at will when needed. Just ask Arkansas. When the game is on the line, they make the plays and the breaks start going their way. That doesn't just happen. It comes from a high level of talent and exceptional coaching.

The Gators exhibited those qualities until some point during the 2009 season. And ever sense, I always have the feeling that something ain't quite right. They don't seem to have the killer instinct, nor the ability to turn it on at will. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see a close, back and forth game until the 4th quarter. And then I expect Alabama to put it away.

But I hope I'm wrong.

But I hope I'm wrong.

You and me both.

But, a loss here may be the best thing that happens to the Gators.

It may wake old Urban and the boys up, and give them motivation to step their game up.

I think this weekend's Bama-Florida game will be close. I haven't watched a great deal of Florida this year but they appear to have gotten better with each passing week. I want to see Bama win but the thing is regardless of who loses I don't think it will hurt them too much in the polls unless it's a blowout. And if Florida keeps improving weekly then any potential rematch in the SEC Conf Champ game will be a doozy.

BTW, I was walking through the break area at work one day last week and ESPN's College Football Live show was wrapping up on the TV there and they were showing this YouTube clip and the host was chuckling. It's nice to know some young families still raise their children correctly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRty9niJxe0

The high here Saturday will be only 78F and sunny during the day so when the sun goes down and UA-UF tee it up it should be a beautiful night.

Have a great time at the game!

I don't know how many of you watched the video that Deb posted here: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=37792277&postcount=4

But, it is so true. Especially this week. I've been listening to sports radio here, and the conventional wisdom expressed by many of the callers is that Urban has been intentionally concealing UF's real offense to date this year, so he can break it out on 'Bama. As if. If that is true, then Urban is a master of mind games, and he has done a really good job intentionally making the Gator offense look inept.

I still say that the Gators are not yet ready for 'Bama.

Anything can happen.

But, I don't see UF coming out of this with a "W."

Those are the same people that believe the moon landings were actually staged in the Utah desert, 9/11 was an inside job, and Nancy Pelosi is human.
