Ok....for all you fellow cruisers. I have been keeping up with this Hurricane since we leave for Florida in 4 days and leave for our cruise NEXT SATURDAY! As of now, the projection path is towards the US. It is a slow mover. If you look at the projection maps....My guess would be...we will be doing the western. :(

Hurricane Frances

Don't fret just yet! It's still early and there are lots of possibilities for the track of this storm, this is just one of the probabilities! Take a deep breath let's see where the next couple of days take us...

Erin :D

I'm officially joining this thread, Travis so I can join you in this nervousness!

As long as no one is hurt and there is no significant loss of property then not much to worry about. Actually, given all safe and sound, I find it kind of exciting being on the September 4, 2004 Magic cruise. Life is full of these unexpected challenges.

My guess is we'll be just fine. :D

Here's another weather site that has hurricane information
Accuweather Hurricane Center

You can click on the name of the tropical storm/hurricane to get info for that specific storm.

If you click on the Atlantic Basin section of the map you will see a satellite image - that you can then animate.

Sure hope Frances doesn't muck up our day at Castaway Cay on Saturday (9/4) ... I've been looking forward to spending the day there since I booked way back in '02 .

Having just been through Charley here in Orlando and not expecting it ... my advice is don't worry another minute! There is no way to tell what these storms are going to do...that sounds like bad news, doesn't it?! The good news is that the weather center was so off on Charley that I think they will REALLY watch this one to better project its path. (Is that good news?)

Bottom line...don't worry...you're going crusin'!!
:sunny:

I am hoping it stays away from my house. I really don't feel like dealing with insurance companies, replacing everything, being without electricity, etc. LOL.

Good luck to all you cruisers.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news as I am, too, a 9/4 cruiser, but the storm strengthened to a Category 3 hurricane according to the bulletin issued about 10 minutes ago.

:scared: :worship: :worship: Please oh please GO NORTH! :worship: :worship: :sad2:

I wonder if we would call Disney and ask them what there plans will be. More then likely, it's too early for them to tell.

Hmm how about, please don't hit land? Go out to sea.

I don't mean to be rude, but after seeing what just happened here, I don't wish the hurricane on anyone. I understand you all do not want your crusie changed, but there is more to it than that. Just think about all the people who lost their homes in Charley, and even worse, those who lost their lives.

I am supposed to fly to Washington DC next weekend, and right now I don't plan to if the storm is headed our way. So believe me when I say, I understand about changes in plans.

Just watched the local news here in Orlando. Looks like she is going to be a big one...expected to be a cat 4 in a day or two. Miss Jasmine I am with you. Let's pray that she gets pulled out to sea by a front or something. Even though I was one of the lucky ones and only lost power for a week, I witnessed first hand the devastation and chaos a hurricane can bring. Out to sea, Frances, out to sea!!!!

Please oh please GO NORTH!
I;m always hoping the hurricanes head north and come ashore at Washington DC. I Don't have anything against the normal folks that live there, just the ones we elect and send there. They need a big dose of reality!!

We just got our pool done and screen room done :(

I would appreciate NO hurricane on the Space Coast and for it to head out to the middle of the Atlantic and Dissipate--

Can we get some nice deep plunging cold front that swoops to the SE US--please oh please--?

:worship: :worship: Out to Sea...Out to Sea :worship: :worship:

Is that better? :) When I said go North, that is what I meant. Who would ever want or wish a hurricane on anyone :( Charley wasn't even a BIG one and look at the damage it did! Soo sad :(

I hope and pray this one does not go where charley did. That would just be awful! :(

oh travis, we knew you meant no harm. i dont know much about hurricanes but seems that rarely do hurricanes go in a straight line from this far back. lets hope by tues or wed, it turns back and stay far far from land.

i am sooooo excited yet kind of worried...but im looking forward to my cruise and know we will be on it in 1 week!@

just checked out www.weather.com

track of hurricane Frances is very uncertain, but if it hits U.S., it could be next Saturday....still plenty of time and distance for it to steer north...

Does travel insurance cover missing your cruise because of a hurricane??? I booked a DCL 6 years ago for my honeymoon. Got a call 2 months before the trip and was told that the ship was not ready. Now we have our first DCL booked for next week! It figures.......

ACK!!! Not DC ... I live just outside of DC ... besides we got hit by Isabel last summer ... out to sea, out to sea!!!!

DS was in Jamaica for Charley, then was in the Outer Banks, NC when the next one hit (can't remember it's name) ... so he really doesn't want to go cruising with Frances ...
