Offical free dining watch 2008

I've only ever heard...when someone is being grumpy you say who p i s s e d in your post toasties. Hope I don't get in trouble:rolleyes1

Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but for us the cereal is Corn Flakes, and the bodily function is from the back end. So, not only did I initially mix up the whole cliche, I technically used it in the wrong manner. But yeah, we'd say "who (bleeped) in your Corn Flakes?"

Interesting little thread hijack we've got goint here! pirate:

Last year it wasn't officially announced until April last year. The dates were rumored on these boards starting on 3/21/07.

If I remember right.... it wasn't even officially advertised until the day it was released? Although there were signs before it happened... such as the Chef Goofy appearing on the Disney Website with a dead link that said something about free dining

been announced by now? I mean april 10th is 3 weeks away. I'm sitting on my deposit, waiting, but wanting to make my reservation now! In the past from what I have read it's been announced waaay before the 3 week mark. Ugh, you never believe how many times i've been checking the boards!

:surfweb:

Can I still add FDDP if I've booked a room only reservation? Does anyone know the code to AP DDP (for purchase) the CM I just booked with couldn't find it and asked me if I knew it???

You will have to do a package... they won't do free DDP w/o a package... I know most folks usually do 1 day non hoppers but free dining requires package deal

Does anyone know where the rumors came from? Last year there was info on the Disney Podcast. I haven't heard anything like that yet. Has anyone?

It was known on March 16th with the dates last year....
Getting kind of late rumor wise with only the 10th known thus far.
Dates should have been leaked by now..........

If I have a room booked already and want to just add free dining should I upgrade to a package now and then apply the dining for free, or should I wait to make my room a package the day I call for free dining. I want to keep my original reservation and dates if possible. Thanks for any advice.

You just can't "add free dining" or "change to free dining". The free dining package will have a specific code and will be restricted in the number of rooms available to that code. You will have CHANGE from your current reservation to the new Free Dining package. I would be prepared to be flexible when you call.

Oh, do you mean because you can book up to 10 days past the 180 day mark if you have a reservation? Because I booked all of my Adr's and I don't have a reservation anywhere yet. But I'm hoping I will soon............:goodvibes

Oh, see I never even thought to make ressies with out having already booked my room. I'll keep that in mind for the future. Just curious, what do you say when they ask where you are staying? Boy if I had thought of that getting those 2 extra days ressies would have been a whole lot easier! LOL

Thank you for re-posting this. Hm... if this year follows the same pattern based on last year, then it would look like 8/17 is when they would have it for the General Public/Visa holders, which I am soooooo hoping for! I'll keep wishing!!! pixiedust:

I just say I haven't booked anything yet because I'm not sure of our dates. Ofcourse, they don't know, that is because they haven't told me the dates of free dining yet! :rotfl: Well..........at least I'm telling the truth! ;)

That would be what I would wish for as well, except that the "other" site was predicting 8/26 - 9/22. So that is probably closer to the truth.

That's what the dates were for last year so I wouldn't count on those.

OK, guys, I have a question:

We're already booked from Aug 13-19th. (We were the lucky recipients of one of the PIN codes.)

If free dining does coincide with our trip, we won't use it; we make out just as well (within $30; I forget which way) with our 40% off.

But what does free dining to to the crowds? Is it, as I suspect, a huge draw that pulls lots of extra people into the parks?

Not that I can do anything about it, just curious.

So if I already have reservations for my room I can't get the free dining without changing them? I can't change my dates, my principal approved me being off that week!!!!!!!!! What can I do to get the free dining? HELP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! Is free dining offered at all the resorts or just at the moderate & value resorts?

I'm soooooo :confused3

If I wasn't trying to lose weight for my September trip, I would so be in the kitchen right now digging for chips & guzzling a 2 liter of Mtn Dew or Sunkist (my drinks of choice) but I'll try to fight the urge (please say a prayer for me or the chips:laughing: ).

Free dining is offered for the most point at all resorts. But there is a limited # rooms that qualify for free dining. It also depend on prior bookings. If POP has alot of bookings before the promotion there will be less room set aside for free dining, but if ressie are dowm at WL then there will be more rooms there.

As for any ressies made before the code comes out... once the code comes out, you will call and tell the CM you already have a ressie but you would like the free dining promotion. They will cancel your old ressie and make you a new one with the code. Just remember their may or may not be availability at your first choice, you may have to choose another hotel.

The only way you can get free dining is during the dates they offer. Good Luck to you.

Keep in mind that sometimes a discount on dining is offered so watch for that. Free would be great, but discounted is next best thing. Last May 2007 we got 40% off the DDP when we booked for POP.

Just was on the phone with Dis re this May's trip ressies. No discount DDP yet for May. But we will keep checking. New ressies can be adjusted if we find out there is a discount and call Dis back.

That week in August is fairly iffy in terms of being eligible for Free Dining - but you don't need to worry about that with the 40% code.

That week is also mostly prior to August 18, the date considered to be when almost all the kids are back to school in the U.S. - which means it won't be as slow as late August, or the truly slow first weeks of September.

So, Free Dining at that time might only be for UK visitors - not a huge impact.

However, it will be busy enough that you should make use of some kind of touring advice/plans. Most of the info you need can be found on these boards. You could also invest in one of the annual guidebooks. While a lot of the info will seem redundant to what you will find out here, it's kind of nice to have a handy ANYTIME reference.
