Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

i was not impressed at all with the model. she made it because of her looks...which bummed me out cuz that gal crystal (the one with the t-shirt about simon) didn't make it...she could sing better than the model!

the poor guy they showed practicing in the bathroom...he sounded so good in the bathroom...and then bombed his audition! i felt bad for him...

the dancy guy...he was odd...

i'm dying to know who simon was calling "clay aiken" on the previews for the next show...

I also couldn't believe what a good, unique voice the "pen salesman" guy had.

I though they said "Penney's salesman" -- it could be that I work for a company that is owned by JCPenney. But I really thought that's what they said...

i liked the pen salesman guy too...dh said something about him not looking at all like an american idol...i said, "remember clay aiken?" :teeth:

he was adorable after he made it through! i hope he goes far!

It was "pen" not Penny. One of the comment Simon made after the guy finished sining was, "OK, I bought your pen."

I taped the show and haven't finished watching it but I thought the heavy set girl with the ukelele had a nice voice. She just chose the wrong song to sing. That's probably what some of the other contestants problems are.

Didn't I see a preview for next Monday night? They are going to show us all of the people that made it through that we didn't get to see.

Yes, AI is on next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. I think we'll be able to see the ones they picked, as this week and last week we pretty much saw the "bad" ones.

I really want to see the person to whom Simon said "un-believable...it was Clay Aiken". Anyone who Simon says is unbelievable has got to be really unbelievable!!! Some of my favorites so far have been Dean Martin kid (he is so adorable, I just want to pinch his cheeks and give him a BIG hug!), Elvis kid, and "she bangs" kid. He was just so innocent, and a great sport. Of course, there won't ever be another Kieth! :p

The Clay Aiken sound alike was good and he did sound like Clay.

There was some good sounding voices on there tonight. Can't wait until tomorrow to see who get through.

First of all, the "Clay lookalike" was really very good, but I didn't think his voice sounded like Clay's; it had a different quality.
And who the heck does Simon think he is telling those girls to lose weight, when they look perfectly fine? Gosh, and you wonder where the unfortunate numbers of eating disorders come from; they come from people like him.

Hey Sara, how come you didn't tell me and Dad about this thread??

I haven't seen tonight's episode yet, rehearsal for my school's musical always gets in the way, but my dad taped it. Can't wait to see this Clay Aiken sound-alike!

Sorry, Elana, I though for sure you or daddy would have found this thread! ;)

The "clay sound alike" sounded good but I think Clay has a better voice. I think it's kind of pathetic when people beg to be moved on to the next round and it really cracks me up when they are rejected and they storm off swearing and saying how the judges wouldn't know talent if it bit them on the behind . I can't wait for tonight's show, I think it's going to be good.

alright...the clay sound alike was alright. at first glance, he faintly resembled clay...but once he got up to do his actual audition, he looked nothing like him. he had a great voice...but i have to agree with simon. he had a great voice and resembled clay slightly, but he has nothing anywhere near clay's personality!

i also really liked the pink and black gal...can't remember her name...but she always wears pink and black. she had a great voice!

and the gal...brianne or however it's spelled...i really liked her voice too.

OK, I'm ready for the competition to begin! I know they are in Hollywood this week. Does the "real" competition start next week with the top 32?

::yes:: I thought he looked like Clay a bit too! I don't think he will go very far, though. The "real" Clay is much better! I am ready for the auditions to be over too. Time for the competition.

I think the one who sang "Proud Mary" will go far - what was her name again?

That other guy who they said looked too old - another Ricky - that's what they told him, too.

I seriously think they need to close their eyes and listen to these people sometimes. ::yes::

Glad they focused more on the people who COULD sing last night - all those awful singers were beginning to get on my nerves...and if I had to hear Simon say "dreadful" one more time, I was gonna hurl!

The girl that won my vote last night (of those on last night) was the one who had just "finished working" on the Disney Cruise Line. . .that young woman can "sang"! I really need to take notes--I can never remember what they sang or their names! It's too early for names yet--I'll get better when there are only 12! :p

Okay, color me confused...

I checked the schedule on Fox.com, but there was nothing about American Idol being on last night (Monday). Did I miss an episode? That would really bum me out!

Yes, there was an episode of AI last night and it was not in the TV Guide. There is also a show on tonight, which I don't think is listed in the TV Guide either. I guess they decided last minute to put more shows on.

I'll remember that next time Clay tickets go on sale. "I thought for sure you'd know about it and buy the tickets yourself" :teeth:

Last nights audition recaps proved to me that sometimes AI is more about the comedy of the losers than focusing on the real talent. Most of the singers we heard last night were far better than anyone else we heard during the previous audition shows. But the producers seem more intent in making fun of the wannabes than highlighting the better performances. Of course now I have my ealry favorite and evreyone on this board should be pushing for her, since she's as close to the DIS family as you can get - a former DCL performer!

Btw, Sara and Elana, I believe she was one of the muses in Hercules when we went in July.
