Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

Scooter girl drove me crazy--that wacky personality is very annoying. I wouldn't think she was eliminated just because she was boring. Maybe the judges saw something else about her, emmotional instability. It was awfully unfair to move pool girl forward, she lacked commitment. I didn't think the brothers were very good.
This year the kids seem to be awfully disrespectful and the ego. Whew! I just can't connect to anyone yet.

Just a thought, if I may. Because AI lasts so long maybe we could start a new thread each show rather then a zillion pages????

i dont know what the boys name was that sang "unchained melody" for his audition said he preformed for the pope...i cant believe he didnt make the final 32... i totally agree with whoever said that they should make these kids sing more tunes that are with their age... next weeks choices ? the dcl girl and the shy dancer boy... i missed last night because of the bachlorette. amn that makes me mad, i forgot all about AI....

Did the guy who Simon kept saying looked too old and to "think young" make it? I couldn't tell and I did think he had one of the better voices.

As far as them singing more contemporary songs, I think they purposely pick older songs the kids probably don't know all the words to as a way to demonstrate who can memorize lyrics fast and under pressure since that's what the rest of the competition entails. Helps them weed out some. That sad, some of the folks who did terrible in that regard got through anyway and others didn't, so there must be a lot more we don't see.

I pick pink hair girl and rose bowl football guy to move on....
...we miss scooter girl and pen salesman boy

...she was a scooter girl, they said see ya later girl, she wasn't good enough for them.....

Pen Salesman made it through. He's Jon-Peter Lewis.

While I agree that Nicole Tieri had a great voice, I was beginning to wonder how much of her act was put on. I don't like the fakes and that's why I'm with my daughter on Johnny, the ref-headed kid. His age may work against him though - only due to lack of experience. Some of the other contestants had real performance credentials, like Jennifer Hudson.

Good-bye Michael Cowan. What a *******. If his ego was any bigger, they'd have had to move out of the theater. And thank goodness Alan is gone. I was afraid when I saw him in the group with Nicole, it meant he was going through. If ALan's going meant Nicole's had to go, oh well, se la vis.

You are cracking me up with this quote! I couldn't have said it any better myself! He kept saying, "But you've seen me do it better before. I sang Unchained Melody beautifully. It was my group's fault that I forgot the words." Whine, whine, whine! Gimme a BREAK!

Maybe Scooter Girl will be back as a Wild Card. Didn't each judge get to pick a wild card as well as the audience? If I remember correctly, Clay was a wild card last season.

George was the name of the dude with the great voice who they said looked "old" - did he go through? Guess I'll stop being lazy and check the link. ;)

Erskine and Amy both gave me goose pimples last night - thought they were excellent.

That first girl group deserved the standing o they received - awesome routine for them.

I like Johnny, but I'm not sure if he can Harry Connick Jr. his way through the competition. He's 16, though - got to give him credit for getting this far - he's the youngest now, isn't he?

It cracked me up when they kept showing one of the brothers complaining that his group wouldn't practice. They showed them practicing hard and then breaking for some sleep - which seemed like a smart move to me. Sure enough, they sailed while he floundered. Then he still tried to blame them saying they wouldn't practice!

That girl with the army shirt, I wonder how she sounds, never heard her sing yet. Did anyone else?

It seems quite unfair that many of the 32 contestants have received no air time while some have received a ton. Americans have already picked their favourites in talent and character from what they have seen so far. I feel sorry for those poor contestants who now have to win over America with one performance. It doesn't seem right.

The girl with the Army shirt, is she the one that they called the Loner? I like her.

I don't know what I am going to do next week. There are four to five in that group that I like, Fantasia, Jennifer, Marque, Erskine and Katie. How ever will I be able to choose?

I honestly think that there are better voices to choose from this time than last year, but we shall see how they do in next week's show.

I think that the Wild Card contestants come from the final 32, I'm not sure, but I think that's how it is.

She's gotta smokin' voice, but that's it. She has to be more animated. She also has to be willing to work on her appearance, cuz right now she's wicked severe! She was complaining about her groupmates wanting her to dance! She says,"I'm a white girl,we don't dance" This chick has some personality issues . I would love her to really breakout ,I don't think its gonna happen. Remember, the winner has to have "something" to make America fall in love with them. I don't think this kid has that.

"The girl with the Army shirt, is she the one that they called the Loner? I like her."

Have we ever heard her sing???? I can't remember her voice at all!!

WHY did the brothers make it through??? Did I MISS something? They performed abysmally with the groups and that hyped up rivalry by the producers is nauseating. Personally I don't find it attractive to dis a relative....

Scooter girl does have a great voice, as Paula said "star quality". But she does have emotional problems, which I'm sure would rear it's ugly head if she made it later on in the contest. You have to be very confident to make it thru the criticism and the voting process... I'd hate to see THAT meltdown!

The 3 ladies that performed under the mother's direction were INCREDIBLE! Lots of the others showed how immature they can be when they're left to handle business on their own.

I agree. So, who knows, maybe my current favorites for next week will change once they perform.

Not only the final 32. I believe Carmen or Trenyce was brought back and she hadn't made it through to the 32.

Btw, I forgot about George. I was disappointed he didn't go through. Very solid voice. The "looks too old" excuse doesn't wash. DIdn't they say that about Ricky last year?

As far as the lack of air time goes, maybe they figured that the remaining 32 will have enough of a chance for air time in the future, so they wanted to highlight some of the more entertaining singers that didn't go through.

I'm just so glad Alan didn't get through. I just hope they don't bring him back for the wildcard. I didn' t care for his looks or his voice, but the worst thing about him was his attitude.

I like Katie so far, but it's too soon to tell.
