Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

I am soooo glad that Matt is gone - couldn't STAND him!! His stupid grinning, look at me- love me- I'm great attitude, mug for the camera every chance I get, let's stare down Simon then laught about it behavior finally caught up with him. He reminded me of Kimberly Caldwell from last season. I even thought his singing to Simon was a total joke just to put himself in the spotlight. On the other hand, I do think that musically Camille deserved to go last night, but am VERY HAPPY not to watch Matt anymore.

I think the reason Diana was in the bottom three tonight is because so many people just assume she's going to get a large percentage of the votes, that they don't vote for her...even if it was their favorite performance. There are some definite advantages to being an underdog on AI.

I was happy to see Matt hit the road. He was too cocky and always thought his comments to Simon were so funny. I could hardly stand to look at him sometimes. I was surprised that he got the boot tonight though as I thought he would probably hang in there another week.

My dh said the same thing about Diana. She is good already, and she went first, so people just forget to vote, or don't think they need to. I voted for her a couple of times, apparently it wasn't enough.

I totally agree on Matt!!!!!!!!!!

I still think the producers throw one of the popular people into the bottom 3 to try to keep viewers interested. I honestly don't think Diana got to the bottom 3 because she didn't get vote. I believe she got there so that the audience would get a surprise. They did it last year with Ruben.

I can't believe Camille (aka Popsicle girl) didn't get the axe. I call her popsicle girl because she seems to sand there like she's frozen. She also has this voice that is too soft and really raspy.

While I didn't care for Matt "I'm was a football star and when I'm 100 and die I'll have a football on my headstone" Rogers, he certainly didn't deserve to get the boot.

I hope Camille goes next week followed by Jennifer, then JPL.

I like John Stevens.

I didn't think Matt was going to be around much longer, but I didn't think he would be the one to go last night. I thought for sure it was going to be Camille.

I was THRILLED to see Diana in the bottom three. I mentioned in another thread that she is being exploited like the pageant queen she is here in Georgia. If I hear that "Keep voting for Snellville's Idol" announcement one more time... GRRRRR....

I see her as a machine like Simon does.

Glad to see Matt go, he's not up to the talent of the half of the contestants, but nowhere near as bad as Camille. I agree that she is stoney, it was mentioned in one of her fillmed profiles that she doesn't like the "celebrity" aspect of this business. Her mother mentioned she should reconsider her career if she is like that, I agree. There are enough people out there who DO want it!

I want to know WHO THE HECK IS VOTING FOR CAMILLE???? I have yet to talk to someone who actually like her.

I think next time they should change the voting to who you want booted off instead of who you want to stay. I think that would make things considerably less complicated and much more fair. People would have no need to vote for more than one person then either. Don't you think that makes much more sense?

So did I! IMO she is the worst, I have not enjoyed one single performance of hers. I guess she had more friends calling in than Matt.

I have a feeling that John S. will go far whether he wins this or not.(And I really don't think he will win) He has a wonderful voice-very classic he just needs to get his personality shining through. He might not be the typical "American Idol" but he'll do well. Anyone agree?

I think the whole entire Hawaii Islands are voting for her and maybe the asians, especially the Filipinos since she is Filipino. I don't vote (I never can get through the line) and I would never vote for her. Her voice is not strong enough and not good enough. I think Camille should go next.

My favorite is still...LaToya...Fantasia...Diana...and Jasmine. I also like Jon (RED). I think he has potential.

I can't see him winning, but I really think he will go far. I think he is a great kid and yes he needs his personality out there.

While I don't care of Matt's attitude, I do like his voice. If the guy in the military from last season, Josh?, can have a single cut, so can Matt. I think that Matt has a much better voice than him.

I agree with what Simon said, Matt picked the wrong song. I think that if he had sang something more upbeat, he might still be there.

Though I don't think Matt would have gone too many more rounds, I liked him and I liked his voice. Camille has had two bad perfomances in two weeks. I agree with previous posters that this has turned into nothing more than a popularity contest.

No one can tell me that Clay Aiken doesn't have MORE talent than Rueben Stoddard. I think that Rueben is a real sweetie, but there's no comparing his talent to Clay's.

Just my opinon...:)

I like John S. and not just because he's a local boy. He needs to let his personality show on stage though. I've noticed in the videos they do he is much more animated. Now Camille..(the stoneface) doesn't even stand out in the corny videos. AND if she doesn't like the whole celebrity thing then why is she doing this? Does she think if she would actually win that she would record a cd and not have to promote it?

If you don't want to do the "I'm famous" stuff and be ready for a whole life change then now is the time to get out.

So now the ratings will increase because people will tune in to see if Simon does it again! I noticed it and just thought it was unintentional. I didn't see it during his exchange with paula, I noticed it the second time when he caught it himself and changed fingers. I'll bet someone told him to be more aware of what he was doing.

I am one of the few who liked Matt - I saw him as confident - not cocky. My interest is definitely lowered now that he is gone.

I like Kim - but her song last night - sheesh! She was either shouting or whispering - I didn't get it.

Sorry I missed Simon's one-finger-salute. I didn't see it, but I sure can see that he would do it!

i like the idea of voting for the worst performer rather than the "favorite" that would stop the personality contest and focus more on who actually has more talent...camille was definetly the worst...2 weeks in a row. and simons little gesture would have went right over everyones head if the media would have let it be. there are a few great vgoices there this year but in my opinion none of them compare to clay from last season..

I definitely don't think that voting against someone is a good idea! If it was that way last season, Clay and Ruben would have both been gone sooner then just about everyone else. From the beginning it was clear that it was basically between Clay and Ruben. Most of the Ruben fans would gang up and vote for Clay to get him out and vice versa, to get rid of the competition. And then after the one was gone, his fans would go after the other in revenge. And the winner would have been someone who was just mediocre, with Clay and Ruben out from the very beginning!

So the way the voting is now is just fine. If they wanted to change anything, they should just make it so that you can only have one vote per phoneline.

Simon's 1-finger salute was definately unintentional. I saw it and didn't take offense. Remember, the Brits have different ways of showing that type of thing--it's not necessarily a universal sign.
