Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

I also thought it was cruel to get rid of four of the contestants right there on the stage. I really felt bad for Lisa.
ESP after Randy said she had one of the best voices. Ugh

Wasn't Lisa the one that Simon told to lose weight? Yet Jennifer is much heavier than Lisa and he never said anything to her. Nor did he ever say anything to Ruben last year. I honestly don't think the judges make sense in their criticisms most of the time.

I felt like yelling "NO-O-O!" when Randy told Lisa that she wasn't going to sing. I hope that the reason is that she is a judges pick. I couldn't believe they weren't letting her sing especially after hearing some of them last night.

I didn't vote, but if I had, I would have voted for Suzi first and then Kimberly. But someone needs to give Kimberly a lesson on clothes and makeup.

Looking forward to tonight's results.

I liked George Suzi and Jennifer last night. I thought the others were not very good.

I agreed. Last night wasted a half hour of everyone's life. What is the purpose of parading 4 people out to tell them that they dont get to sing. These people wasted their time and energy preparing a song "in case" they got to sing that night. They wasted the person training all of them, the costume people's time, the 4 kids time, and finally...my time watching that. Also, these kids had family come to watch them. I thought that was absurd.

Leah seems to "fake" to me. I think her Mom is really pushing this and is showing her how to make just the right moves. In my opinion she just doesn't have the right attitude for this competiton..it seems like she thinks she's better then everyone.

Jennifer..I don't get it, I really don't like her..I thought she did ok, but her expressions were so over the top..did anyone else notice some of them were Whitney faces. She must have been watching her movie The Bodyguard, because she made the same faces in that!

hahahaha

I too am confused about why they would parade those four out onto the stage just to tell them they weren't going to sing last night, especially Lisa who Randy felt had the best voice. I hope it's because they will be a judge's pick, but still that would only be three out of the four that they told weren't singing last night.
Also, is it just me, or does it seem like this year of AI is dragging? Between all of the audition shows and then the final rounds, it's taking forever to get to the final 12:rolleyes: I can't wait until next week when this show can finally start.

I think the problem with Leah is that she is this tiny, petite, young girl that keeps singing these soulful R&B songs that should be coming out of someone much older. The other problem is that the songs sound strange with Leah's accent. It sounds like a boot-legged version of an American hit being played in a foreign country. This may sound weird, but it seems to me her mother is trying to sell her to the highest bidder.

I, too, was shocked that Lisa was not allowed to sing. Now that I realize the four that didn't sing were not necessarily eliminated for good, I hope it was because Lisa was already a judge's pick.

I am quickly losing interest with this show. Maybe I'm spoiled by Clay and these contestants just show how really good he is, but nobody stands out like they did last year (I didn't see AI i). Kimberly Locke would have been the winner if she competed in this group.

Sara, my darling daughter, how can you vote for the pen salesman? He has no voice, no range and can't dance worth a damn. If you're voting for him because he's cute, answer me this, would you buy his CD? Not with my money :teeth:

I also am so underwhelmed this year. Once they finally do begin with the final 12, if a few don't step up to the plate and really
WOW me within the next two shows, I'll stop watching. It's become painful to watch.

the only one that's wowed me was diana from group 1. she sang "i've got the music in me" i think...she was very good!

i liked katie, but she chose the wrong song last night. and george was a riot! it was obvious that he and the pen salesman guy were having a great time out there on stage! they both brought a smile to my face...

jennifer's makeup bugs me...but she's got a good voice. wasn't she the former disney cruise line worker? you could see it in her performance...lol...

i like leah...but she needs to choose better songs...and i also thought that lisa would get through! it'll be interesting to see who goes through to the final 12 tonight...

I wasn't wowed by any of them, either. I like John, George and Matthew, though, just because I do!

Leah gives me the creeps for some reason, can't stand Katie or Diana... I'm with the judges, this group is a letdown!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like Leah. She gives me the creeps too...but for totally different reason. She could be the twin of my *itchy cousin Melissa. Looks like her, sings like her, even has hair like her..UGH

I think they need to get a new studio for this part of the competition. The music took over all of the vocals...it stunk!!

I also agree that the faces Jennifer was making....were horrible.

Jennifer = talented but overly dramatic:rolleyes:. Maybe because of her background (muse in Hercules on DCL).

Leah = like some of you, I just don't like her for some reason. She bugs me.

Matthew = I am 42. I am old enough to be his mother. I am happily married. Not the most talented of the bunch by far, but boy is he a cutie!:o

For some reason, I do like the pen salesman, Jon Peter...

LOL, Dodie! I'm nearly 48 and I like him, too. Something about that smile!

Jon Peter, I know, he dances like a jerk but he's got charisma! :p

2bemarried: I'm sorry about that cousin! At least WE can turn off the TV, you have to deal with her! :p

CABLE OUT: Yes, AGAIN in our area. What's up with that?
Starting to be a pain.

DROPPING THE FOUR: I really thought that this was a stupid idea also. They should have been able to perform and let the people decide if they should move on. It's not like they hadn't sung before this. We had to listen to everyone in show 2 at least let us hear these four guys( who we enjoyed) again.

Can't wait for tonight....

 Robin...luckily I only see her once a year :teeth:

Okay....Matt is cute....but how many of you noticed the fake smile he was dishing out...OMG..it was like a Jim Carrey smile..huge teeth and all.

Dodie & Robinrs, I totally agree about Matthew. He's a doll. He seemed nervous last night and I was hoping he'd sing better than he did. I'll be surprised if he makes it through.

What happened with them not picking Lisa? I thought she definitely had one of the better voices. I wonder if the judges are second guessing their picks after hearing last night's performances.

I could be wrong, but I think the judges pick 3 contestants tonight and America's vote will pick the 4th.

I too am getting tired by the slow pace of this year's endless preliminary rounds. Maybe it's just the "been there/seen that" of the show, but nothing seems to be a surprise to my family anymore.
I still adore Simon and Randy and Paula (in that order) but I hope the excitement level picks up soon!!!!

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I voted for Pen salesman just so that I can see some more of his crazy dances. At least he brought a smile to my face.:D I also liked George. I really wasn't impressed with anyone else
