Offical 2003 Stanley Cup Finals thread (Finals start on Pg. 17)

No overtime needed. The Devils got the job done tonight in a hostile environment! Supamaki, PROPS to your team. I was rooting for them tonight. In an earlier post, I predicted the Devils-Sens going 7 and the Devs winning. Now for my cup prediction......

The Devils are banged up and I see them losing to the DUCKS in 6 games. The Devils home game dominance has been broken so I see them (the Ducks) "stealing one in Jersey and possibly 2 with J.S.G in the nets. Then the series will take a turn for the worse when they head to California. Hell, it could be a SWEEP for the Ducks! MAN, HOCKEY IS GREAT!!!!!

Game On!!!!!

I think it might be over in 5. NJ will probably win the 2nd game & then after that it might be over.

Ducks in 5 or 6? Are you kidding? There's a HUGE difference between a hot goaltender and a great goaltender. The Ducks had a seive in Cujo, trust me, as a Devils fan I know all about Cujo, then had 2 OT winners in Dallas that could have gone either way, but seeing as Dallas forgot how to play defense in the playoffs, it wasn't surprising, and then ran into a Wild team that was just happy to be there. Devils may not win the cup, but it won't be a cake walk for the Ducks.

I predict Devils in 6

Can anyone perdict this one? If the Ducks hadn't made it look so easy I think everyone would be putting their money on the Devils. The Devils are battled tested and have the injuries to prove it. The Ducks are more than rested and will probably have a tough time in Game 1 adjusting back to playing. Both teams rely heavily on team defense and solid goaltending. We are in for a string of low scoring games with some multiple overtimes thrown in for fun and drama. In a way, I see this like the Ducks-Wild series (well, Lemaire did perfect his system when he coached the Devils) were one mistake could lead to a game winning goal.<br><br>So, in true wishy-washy-ism, if the series ends in 4 or 5 games, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks will be first the first team in NHL history to be named after a Hollywood movie to win the Stanley Cup. If the series goes 6 or 7 games, the New Jersey Devils will be bringing home their third Stanley Cup Championship!</TD></TR></TABLE>

Antnee! Welcome back for the finals!
You going to any games, I'll be at game 2!

1 down, 3 to go. Ducks looked bad tonight. If that's all they bring it's gonna be a short series

I was at Game 1
hopefully Ill be at game 5 to watch them WIN the cup @ home

I think it's great that both of Jersey's teams are in the finals for their respective sports. I think the Devils are going all the way. The guy from the Ducks had a good couple weeks, but Brodeur has been an awesome goalie for how long? I think he showed his greatness tonight when he shut the ducks out. Can't wait to see how the Nets do.

I went to game one & I'm going again tonight!
GOOOOOOOOO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, you people make me so jealous!!! I've been to a few NHL games in Montreal and Buffalo but never a playoff game, let alone a Stanley Cup Finals game.

Enjoy them!!! Maybe someday my Canadiens will get their act back together and I'll go up to the Old Forum...I mean, Molson...no, it's the Bell Center now. Gee, just be done with it and call it the New Montreal Forum sponored by Bell. Yea, I could live with that.

But, on to the game at hand. Now, we'll see what the Ducks are made of. Can the rookie coach turn his team around in 48 hours? Yes they looked rusty but there was some total break downs in their own end. JSG did his job but his team very seldom cleared the rebounds.

Devils looked good but feel they still need take this game to win the series.

Could someone tell the guy with the Duck Hunting sign, the Duck should be Donald and not Daffy. A character mix would have been funnier. Still love the reference. Will be interesting to see what the Anaheim fans come up with on Saturday. :teeth:

Game day!! Nothing better than game day!
Yes we shall see what the Ducks are made of. They haven't been hit the way the Devils hit. The Ducks need to take a page from Ottawa's playbook and send in 2 guys to forecheck, if the Dev's came come out of their zone unopposed, it's going to be a short series.

I'll take some salt and a little ketchup for my crow please!

Man, the Devils are proving that they are nothing short of a well oiled machine. Total dominance is the only way to describe what they are doing against a team that glided through the west. Looks as if the pixie dust has run out for the Disney team. The Ducks would probably be ecstatic with a goal on their home ice at this point.

Boy, was I ever wrong with my prediction. I sit corrected!:o

Saturday night I will be in Ocean City Maryland then it's off to Dover for NASCAR on Sunday and Atlantic City on Monday so you won't see me here until at least Monday night. Good luck to both the Devils and Ducks fans.

GAME ON!!!

Jeff are you going to have a helping of the crow that's being served??

Devils in 4.
The Ducks decided to go see The Lion King on Broadway the night before the game. They're just happy to be in the finals and not trying to win.

I would like nothing more than a sweep by the Devils.:D
