Offical 2003 Stanley Cup Finals thread (Finals start on Pg. 17)

Congratulations to the 2003 Stanley Cup Champions, the New Jersey Devils. Any team who can come up with 3 shutouts over one team in a 7 game series certainly deserves to win. And, remember, the regular season does mean something. Without home ice, the Devils might not have won.

If any of you New Jersey fans get to see the Cup, post those pics!

And, congratulations to Jean-Sebastien Giguere for winning the Conn Smythe Trophy. Although he lacked the heroics in the finals, the way he got the Ducks there was one of the more memoriable runs in playoff history. Besides, I loved saying his name!

Ah, it is sad to see a season end. But, wait! The draft is June 21 and 22 in Nashville and all the anticipation and trades that brings. Teams can start signing Free Agents on July 1st. Camps open in September and the next season starts in early October. Heck, we'll be talking hockey again before you know it!! :teeth:

I want to thank everyone for participating in this thread. It was fun! Will definitely run it again next year! And, who knows, maybe Cinderella will win it next year?

Last word....if you can get NHL Center Ice, get it! It costs about as much as one good ticket to an NHL game and you get 90% of all NHL games televisied (local blackouts are enforced).

I'm not making excuses for NJ fans but I would cut them some slack on this one.

You sound like me when I told certain upset American DISner's to *ignore* the stupid Hab's fans when they booed the *Star Spangled Banner* during the Canadians-Islanders game in Montreal...;)

IMHO - there is never a justified reason for booing, none, nadda....zip!

am I the only one who is disappointed that Jersey won?!? I mean - don't get me wrong - I LOVE Jersey...IMHO Brodeur is one of the top goalie's and they have SEVERAL star players...but (there's always a but) they've won 3 already in the past 9 years?!? I just think it's nice to see a different team win it for a change, makes the game *less predictable*

Alas - no one can argue anymore that the Ducks didn't deserve to be there - I mean at least they showed up - played like hell and were not a *Cinderella story* as the media were making them out to be...they went 7 games to make for a great series and weren't *swept* (Im thinking Florida Panthers being swept by Detroit in the Stanley Cup finals a few years back here - now THAT was pathetic...)

Go Ducks Go! GREAT year guys...

Well I'm certainly not sick of seeing them win, and Brodeur is the THE top goalie. 3 in 9 years isn't so many, it's not like the Yankees winning 3 in 4 year years, plenty of other teams have won in those 9 years.
